Graphic Novel from the Bloodraven Universe

Wizard takes place in the world of Bloodraven, in the lands on the northern side of the great mountain range where Bloodraven’s ogre brethren live. Erckle. Once you get past the extremely gruesome and graphic beginning of rape, torture, human roasting and cannibalism the going gets much easier with a river trip and hot, graphic jungle sex. Be warned though that the ending demands follow-up which seems to be a long time coming. Lots of stars for the cool graphics which are better viewed on anything much larger than a cell phone screen.

I thought Bloodraven was both beautiful and brutal but the brutality was offset by a sense of power and a surprising love story which was the heart of the story. It was one of my favorite reads of 2010. I purchased Wizard soon after I finished Bloodraven when I learned it was set in the same world but it took me until now to work up the courage to actually read it.

If you’ve read Bloodraven you know it’s not for the faint of heart, particularly the earlier scenes, but Wizard takes things to a new

I think that I would have enjoyed this book even more if I had read it before Bloodraven. It gives a tremendous amount of background in very vivid, graphic detail. I mean lets pull out every plug down and earthy. This story would have been a 5 if not for the drawings.

This is a combination graphic novel with a novelette (written text) to expand the story. Although I did like it, it was not as good as her other graphic novel "Bloodraven." This is set in the same world, but takes place many years earlier with different characters. The story opens with the aftermath of a battle between two nations. Warrior Ferris is captured and the enemy take sadistic pleasure trying to break him. My main issue with the story was the graphic torture (both visually and written). ...more

I read this immediately after I was done Bloodraven since they take place in the same universe. As mentioned, this book is extremely graphical and not recommended for the faint of heart. I had to endure and quickly read through the beginning, which was hard but well rewarding afterwards ;D It's very short and leaves you wondering about many things. Nonetheless it was a good quick read.

Hmm.. So did anyone else notice the incredible similarities that strikes Estalan as Elvardo? Such as their pale
Did I really just read (and look at illustrations of) pages and pages of graphic torture porn just to get more Elvardo?

Yes, yes, I did. I mean, I read the warnings and I know the author, and I'm not easy to squick, but... squick? lol. The later parts were great, because let's face it, Elvardo is awesome and just needs to rule the world already, and I was sad it was so short. But yeah, going to need to go obtain some brainbleach for some of the early bits o_O

(Favourite part? When Elvardo idly mag

Well, That was a quick read. Yes, a horrible lot of torture at the start, but no worse than Game of Thrones. 80% of the accompanying illustrations are gorgeous, 10 % are stunningly erotic, and the final 10% are just plain sick! The actual story was left on a cliff hanger, we really never did find out much about the Wizard and his true intentions, but he and Ferris were very hot!..i want more, sick puppy that I am!

First of all, i had no idea it was illustrated to a degree, so that blew me away. It was apparently done by one single person, and i have no idea just how much time and effort it went into the creation of it, but it looks really good. I was pleasantly surprised.

A second surprise came in the way of content. I was expecting some darker elements, but this has taken it to a whole different level. The descriptions of t

While I enjoyed the artwork and story, some of book was rather gruesome and squicked me out. Plenty of non con, torture and nasty bits. But, gorgeous artwork and liked the story. Best read on something larger than iphone or sony ereader as the text is small. iPad or buy in book form. 3 and a 1/2-4 stars.

I didn't like it at all. It was like a horror movie and the images didn't help. I mean half of the book was torture after torture and it was DISGUSTING. I don't want to know that kind of torture. I almost vomited in some parts. They were that bad.
This book just wasn't in my taste

I like reading novels and manga, but sadly combining these kind of story telling methods in 1 book doesn't seem to work for me.
So while Nunn has written another good story, I didn't enjoy readig it.

I guess I'm one of the "squicky" ones---I couldn't get past the first 10 pages---maybe I'll come back another time, but I don't think so.
