Jody, Rockoholic’s main character, is Jackson’s biggest fan. When her best friend Mac gives Jody a ticket to The Regulator’s gig she jumps at the chance to go. After queuing up outside all day Jody gets to see just three songs before she hits her head and is taken to the nurse’s room.
Mac drives her home, plus one – Jackson , who is so high on drugs at the time he thinks that Jody's Curly Wurly is a knife. Yes, you read that right!

Rockoholic is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a very long time. This book had the ability to make me laugh out loud at three in the morning – I had to stuff a pillow over my face to stop myself from waking anyone up! And when you’re sitting in your bedroom with a book in one hand, clasping a pillow to your face with the other and laughing yourself silly, this can only mean that you’ve just read a very, very good book.

Original review at http://inkscratchers.blogspot.com/
After reading both of her books, I'm beginning to wonder what goes on in C.J. Skuse's head... whatever it is, it's pretty random!
I recieved this book from Chicken House because I saw a really good review for it on another blog, but for some reason, i've put it off for quite a while.

I’m going to start this review by saying that Rockoholic by C. J. Skuse is one of the funniest, most entertaining and highly original books I’ve read in a long time.
To be quite honest, when I first read the synopsis I thought the book sounded good but I honestly didn’t know whether I’d like it. I mean, I’m a bit past my boy band loving days although I do remember what it was like to have a crush on Ronan Keating *cringing as we speak* and I won’t tell you about the time I had front ro More...

Jody is a massive fan of a band called The Regulators, in particular their lead singer, Jackson Gatlin. And by massive fan, we're talking OBSSESSED. She's vegetarian because in an interview Jackson says he is, she reads the same books Jackson reads, she buys zebra things because on Wikiepedia it says Jackson likes zebras; she truly believes he's the guy for her ... if only he knew she existed. Maybe he'll notice her when she goes to a Regs concert.

I really wish goodreads did a .5... this would be a 4.5!
Jody is obsessed. Her favourite band is The Regulators, and her favourite person in the world is lead singer Jackson Gatlin. She wants to be a part of his life, like he is her life. As with most 17 year old girls things in life don’t make sense, like for instance why her grandad had to die and why her parents are getting a divorce, so Jackson and the band help her through the hard times. Trouble is The Regulators aren’t a More...

I picked this one up because I was in the mood for something light, girly and a little romance-y and I have to say it didn't disappoint! Rockoholic tells the story of Jody, a hardcore fan of the singer of The Regulators, Jackson Gatlin. She goes to the concert, only to find herself kidnapping him and taking him back to her home town of Nuffing-on-the-Wold. (The first time I saw the name, I actually thought it was a joke. But no, it's the actual name the author gave Jody's home town.) So, she hid

This book is a great example of how book blogging has changed me. Never in a million years had I not started blogging would I ever have read something like Rockoholic. I wasn't interested if it wasn't paranormal. But, since I've started blogging, I'm a lot more open to other genres, especially realistic and contemporary fiction, so I decided to give this one a go, see if I liked it.

I picked up Rockaholic having heard a lot about it from my fellow UK Book Bloggers about how funny it was and at the time, that was just what I wanted! I have to admit I do hardly laugh at books, even when they are funny and I find it funny I don’t actually LOL I just have a little giggle inside! Well Rockaholic did make me LOL, not as much as I hoped as half way through things turned a bit more serious but at the beginning I was giggling quite a lot.

I got this book to review on the Amazon Vine program as I’d heard lots of fab things about it from my blogger friends. I started reading this book when I was having a pretty miserable day and needed cheering up and boy did it do the job!
Rockoholic starts off with main character Jody at her beloved granddad’s funeral her granddad was Jody’s idol. Not the typical grandfather figure he loved rock and roll, would moon bathe and wanted his funeral to be called a “body barbeque” and we autom More...

Funny and clever, Skuse's ROCKAHOLIC breathes a breath of fresh air into adolescent-fandom. Her characters bubble with life (and I think Grandad might be my new hero) and they push the story into all sorts of wonderful unexpected places. Bloody brilliant.

When I first came across Rockoholic I thought nah, it’s not for me. A book about a girl obsessed with a rock star? Not my cup of tea. I’m not really into music in a big way and can honestly say I’ve never obsessed over anyone in a band. But I kept coming across it on the book review blogs and the more I read, the more intrigued I was, so when I got the opportunity to review it I jumped at it.

I'd been wanting to read Skuse's second novel for a while so when it arrived along with a Curly Wurly I knew I was in for a treat. The Curly Wurly is integral to the story so you must eat one while you're reading (any excuse). C J Skuse is a really talented author and her books are very funny. At the same time though it doesn't feel like she's trying too hard to make us laugh, which is a really good thing.
The book also feels really relevant. It's predominantly about a girl called Jody More...

Rockoholic is a stunner of a book. This was my first book to read by C J Skuse so I was pretty excited. From the bright attractive cover, the funny yet thrilling plot and the awesome characters, everything was completed wonderfully. I loved this book!
We meet Jody, the girl who is head over heels over one particular rock star- Jackson. When she gets hold of a few tickets for his concert, she makes sure she's the first to get there. But then, she gets herself caught in a funny situatio More...

Oh Man - I loved this book! I really liked the look of it when I first heard about it but I wasn't expecting it to be that good!
The story follows Jody and Mac. Jody is completely obsessed with a band called The Regulators and their lead singer Jackson Gatlin. Mac is her best friend and when Jody goes to see The Regulators preform she manages to accidentally kidnap Jackson, making Mac an accomplice in the process. But will Jackson be everything Jody thinks he will be?

‘The accidental kidnapping of the decade’ is certainly one way to describe the plot of this book, when I read the description of Rockaholic – my first reaction was this could never happen. But the more and more the story moves on and when looking at the place their heads these two individuals find themselves in the more bizarrely believable the story becomes.

I am in love with this book. It makes me smile, just looking at the cover. I read it last night on the way back from a Simon and Schuster event in London (which was awesome, by the way). Even though it was late at night, I was tired, hot and crushed against the window by the girl next to me (who was drinking gin - GIN, the one alcoholic beverage that makes me retch at the mere smell) I couldn't help but grin the whole way home.

How much did I adore Rockoholic by CJ Skuse?! I love the characters and the premise and how hugely entertaining and funny it is while still touching on some serious topics. I thought the whole novel was really well done and I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Claire from Chicken House for sending me this book for review! It is excellent.

Before picking up this book I had not heard of the author before so started it with no real expectations about what it would be like.
The story follows Jody a teenage girl who goes to see in concert her favourite band, and more importantly, her idol Jackson Gaitlin. A variety of things go wrong and by the end of the evening Jody ends up kidnapping Jackson and taking him home to hide out from the press in her Granddad's garage.
I liked several things about this book. Firstly More...

What a funny book this was.
Even though the story is complete bizarre, the main character is somehow relatable that you find yourself drawn into every choice she make.
I would love to see this turned into a movie.
