Vampire in Atlantis (Warriors of Poseidon #7)

Alyssa Day (Goodreads Author)
The most unexpected of all allies to Poseidon's warriors has proven to be the fiercest-Daniel, a vampire and Night Guild mage. But even the strongest alliance can be destroyed when a vampire's oath crosses paths with a maiden's quest, and an eleven-thousand-year-old desire is reborn.

I rated it like this because the rest of the characters are so amazing and the plot is really interesting, but I could have rated it even lower.
This installment is about our amazing DANIEL. Men, I have been waiting to read his book since the beginning of the series, I have been in love with Daniel forever, only my love for Alaric was stronger. Our amazing hero has been a tortured soul for 11.000 years and has been trying to be good this last years, trying to redeem himself. He only loved once an...more

Vampire Daniel, a sometimes ally to the Warriors of Poseidon, is feeling the weight of all his centuries and has decided to face the sun, but instead of death he finds a new reason to live in the woman he'd thought was lost to him.

“Vampire in Atlantis” is the seventh book (plus two novellas) in Alyssa Day’s Warriors of the Poseidon series. The next book in this wonderful series will be released in May, 2012. “Vampire in Atlantis” is Daniel’s book, and many of us have been waiting for this.
The story picks up with Daniel now ready to give up on life, and face the dawn. Daniel's whole existence has been about atoning for his early years of being a vampire when he was all about killing and maiming. He spent 9000 years underg...more

Seventh in the Warriors of Poseidon paranormal romance series about the elite guards for the High Prince of Atlantis and their allies. The couple focus is on Daniel and Serai. The jewel focus is on the Emperor.
It's been 11 years since the vampires came out to the world.
My Take
Okay, Daniel has worked really hard to get to this point. He's finally in charge, governmentally, of all the vampires in the U.S. And the first thing he's going to do is resign?? Now, where does this make any sense?? Nor do...more

Paranormal Romance - June 7th, 2011
4 1/2 stars
This amazing book has a super charged heroine bent on saving her friends. As part of the author’s Warrior’s of Poseidon paranormal series this book can be read alone, although many characters return.
Serai was part of a small group of young Atlantean women who were ‘persuaded’ to be put in stasis for the good of their future. She was destined to marry the King of their people. However, while in and out of a semi state...more

I'm not finished yet, but I think this one is the weakest book of the whole series.
I really love Alyssa Day's books! The Warriors of Poseidon is one of the best Paranrmal Romance Series out there! But I cannot love this installment... Daniel is quite a lovable male! He's interesting being an 11thousand years old vampire... But Serai! She just gets on my nerves all the time! Great paranormal romance with an action plot. Some series are like TV sitcoms, they go stale rather quickly. Not this one! Alyssa Day manages to give each book its own fresh view of the world while moving the series story arc along and resolving the main story line.
The hero is Daniel who has played an enigmatic role through several of the previous books. We've known him by several names [Daniel/Devon/Drakos/Demetrios] and in several roles - most recently he had become the vampire head of state....more

In this seventh book of the Warriors of Poseidon series the whole gang is back with a couple of additions. Set in Day's wonderfully crafted world, this time there are the usual vampires, shapeshifters, Atlantean warriors, wizards and witches plus a sorceress, "virginsicles" and the Emperor gem.
The vampire Daniel (a.k.a. Drakos and Devon) takes the lead this time. For years he's thought his first love, Serai of Atlantis, was dead. Daniel is lucky. He's been given a second chance. Will he make the...more

I have to say that after the last two books in the Warriors of Poseidon series, this one pales in comparison. While still a good story, at times the dialogue between the main characters or other Atlantean warriors felt choppy and forced. Likewise, it took me a long time to warm up to the romance between Daniel and Serai. With that said, the couple grew on me over the course of the book, so that by the time the heroic sacrifices are made and the climax occurs, I felt the sting of injustice in my...more
I didn't hate this installment like I have the last few. In fact, I rather enjoyed reading about Daniel and Serai! (I even got my wish and was pleasantly surprised by the intellectual dialogue found here!!!!!) Daniel being the 11,000 year old vampire ally to the Atlantians and Serai being one of the maidens trapped in crystal stasis for 11,000 years waiting to be married off to a prince for breeding.

Probably my favorite so far. Daniel has been around since the early books in this series and one had to wonder why he was so helpful. Turns out he really shouldn't have been, or maybe he should. I am still not sure how I feel about it. Daniel was turned vampire 11,000 years ago; the same time ago that Atlantis fell into the sea. Serai is was trapped in stasis for the past 11,000 years. She and Daniel have been separated for that long, meeting only hours before they were separated. Serai awakens...more

Best book in the series so far. The love between the hero and heroine was there from the beginning and just grew throughout the book. The story line was interesting and kept my interest through the entire book.
Daniel was a great hero and I've liked him since he first appeared in this series. It was great to finally read his story.
As to some of the other stories in the book, Ivy, the dark sorceress (who wasn't all entirely dark) and Nicholas, the evil vampire (who wasn't all entirely evil, eithe...more

Fist off I love Alyssa and I love this series, but I simply could not stand Serai, she drove me nuts. I really could not stand the way she constantly jumped to conclusions especially about the Atlantian men (whom I love). I have enjoyed reading about Daniel ever since the beginning and I was sure that when he found his HEA I would be thrilled. I just think he could have done so much better than Serai or possibly she needed to come off a little softer, I am not really sure why she rubbed me the w...more
Another good Warriors of Atlantis story - even though Daniel is a vampire!
Daniel/Devon/Dracos has appeared in several of the earlier books as a friend of the warriors, but this is his story and that of Serai whom he loved eleven thousand years ago (!! wow 11,000 years to still love one's first love !!) Although Daniel is kind and strong, he still thinks he isn't good enough for a princess of Atlantis; Serai has kept her love for Daniel throughout (wow, again), but refuses (in her new life) to b...more

Alyssa Day takes the reader on a vampire/Atlantian adventure. Novel is well written. Most readers of her work will enjoy this novel. If you have never read her work, then start with book one, otherwise this book will be a little off to follow. You'll need to start with the first novel in this series in order to properly follow the plot and actions going on around these two characters who after 11,000 years find each other again and bond for all eternity.

If there was ever a better titled book for me than VAMPIRE IN ATLANTIS, I haven’t heard it. I’m obsessed with Plato’s fabled island (I have an entire section of my bookshelf devoted to books about it) and I live and breath vampires. In Day’s Warriors of Poseidon series, Atlantis still exists safely under the sea, it’s warriors charged by Poseidon to protect humanity and recover the stones from his trident to raise Atlantis once again.

OK back to what I expect from the Warriors of Poseidon books. Good not great. The two characters had chemistry, the plot was good. There was definite humor, perhaps the most humorous of the series for me. The problem, the wrap up was a little forced/contrived.
There were just parts I had issue with that made it just good, not great.

Quick & Dirty: Strong characters and great world building draw you in and keep you strapped to your chair, turning pages. Fast paced with notable action and steamy love scenes.
Opening Sentence: Daniel looked out at the sea of red eyes glaring back at him in the vast oak-and-marble chamber of the Primus and wondered, not for the first time, why the hell he’d ever wanted to be the ruler of the North American Vampires.

I didn't get a lot of reading done while rehabing because I found that I just couldn't concentrate. I did however get caught up on one long running series and that is the Warriors of Poseidon by Alyssa Day. I was two books behind so now I am all caught up and soo ready for Alaric's book. I am ready to see the big man be happy. In the mean time here is what I thought of Vampire in Atlantis.

Another sequel I had been looking forward to reading and excited to slip right back into. It was interesting to have the main male lead not be one of the warriors from Atlantis, and I was excited to get to know Daniel a bit better. His reunion with Serai happened very quickly, but still flowed well once the book got going. I enjoyed having a majority of the characters return, but was a little disappointed that Alexios and Grace didn't even get a mention, as well as Denal, but here's hoping for t...more
Daniel had lived over 11,000 years. He was the Primator of vampires in the U.S. Congress and he was tired and ready to face the dawn. Serai had spent the last 11,000 years in a type of suspended animation. Promised to the Atlantean Royal Prince Conlan, she has been left in her stasis to hear those around her live their lives. When the stasis magic is interrupted Serai breaks free of her stasis and Atlantis with Daniel in tow.

I have always loved Daniel from the very beginning. There was always something about him. His ever changing names to to different roles that he play throughout the books. He was one of the men/vampires I couldn't quite pin down.
This story was not as action packed as some of the other books in this series. I think that this was more about the romance for Daniel and Serai. It was about thousand of years of unending love that they shared. I loved their story. I was kinda confused in the beginning ab...more

Honestly speaking Vampire in Atlantis is one of the best books in the series!!! Day really outdid herself writing this book. You havent read the series you have no idea what you are missing. I am so glad I was brought into this exciting world that Day has created. It special and unique. I couldn't help myself just to fall head over heels in love.

One of the problems with having a favorite author is having high expectations. Alyssa Day's Warriors of Poseidon series was my first paranormal read ever. Add that to the fact that her books just get better and better (I mean I never thought she'd be able to top Brennan's!) and once you put all that together, well, that's just a lot of pressure for this book to have. So what happens if this book isn't awesome? I hate that nervous feeling I get as I crack open a new book fro...more

I liked this book the best.
Serai was cool. Finally, someone to tell the guys to back off and quit with the posturing long enough to see that someone other than their sword wielding holiness can do something. :P
Nicholas, Ivy and Ian were good together. I hope Nicholas takes over as Primus. I wonder how that's going to work if he does and if Conlan will work with him? Hmmm...

Imagine being 11000 years old, going to "sleep" in your your 20's and awaking in the present. Then finding out within hours of waking & escaping that you and your 11000 year old love basically get to ssave the world in the next few days. Alyssa's series keeps getting better and better with each book, and I can't wait to see where she'll go with the next one. Thank-you Alyssa for the GREAT read.
