A very interesting premise of an attempt to steal the declaration of independence and burn in. I felt this novel was often rather uneven and lacked the sustained dramatic tension that was the hallmark of Archer's earlier novels. An interesting fact that I learned from the novel was that the declaration of independence actually has a spelling error, proving that the founding fathers were human after all.

Lots of thrilling and mind bending intrigue in this one. Not a huge fan of Archer in the past I came at this one fresh (I had honestly forgotten that I wasnt a fan in my younger years and I am starting to appreciate Archer's ability to start a saga in my dotage)
This book appeals to anyone who enjoyed Ocean's 11 of "The Usual Suspects" Lets hope they make it a movie and not a cheesy mini-series.

My second Archer book (after Kane and Abel). The story is set mainly in 1994 Iraq under Saddam Hussein. The basic plot is about Iraqi officials paying off someone to steal the US constitution and the US sending an undercover operative to retrieve it. The novel gives the reader a taste of the life and conditions of 1994 Iraq. It keeps one absorbed till the end. I give this novel a 3.5.

This book takes place in 1994 during the Clinton administration. It is about Saddaum Hussein trying to hire an American mafia figure to steal one of the most valued piece of American heritage. I just read this in 2007, and it was funny to me how all the issues with Iraq, still haven't quite changed. Good book!!

Another book I read along time ago, but one I will probably read again. It is about stealing the Constitution of the United States and holding it ransom. I remember seeing National Treasure for the first time wondering if they got their inpiration for a great movie from this fantastic book.

LOVED this one - great story, full of complex twists and turns, plus some romance thrown in. One of Archer's best.
