Austin thinks driving a 1989 Geo Spectrum fourteen hundred miles in the middle of winter is a bad idea. But he would never forgive himself if the man he loved, Zach Roth, got himself killed in Idaho, so he agrees to go.

Zachary Roth is going to his parents' home in Boulder, Colorado for Hanukkah. He is taking his boyfriend of six month, mechanic Austin Jenker, with him to meet the family for the first time. Zach's method of transportation is a 1989 Geo Spectrum, and it makes Austin a bit pissy. But Austin will never forgive himself if Zach is killed driving the Spectrum in the middle of winter from Seattle to Boulder. Soon though, the two men realize that this road-trip will be more intense than anything they h...more
This is a sweet story involving a small Jewish city planner named Zach, a large non-Jewish mechanic named Austin, and a road trip from Hell that takes place during Hanukkah. Zach and Austin are at that stage where things are getting serious, but Zach has had bad experiences in the past and he's afraid to trust himself or Austin. Austin has asked Zach to move in with him several times, but Zach keeps begging off. He knows that Austin has a short temper; and although he tends towards large men for...more
Zach needs to deliver his grandmother's car to her new home in Colorado. He's invited his relatively new boyfriend of six months along for the ride. Austin wants to move their relationship to the next level and get a place together but Zach is worried that they're moving too fast. He's hoping that the road trip will help iron out his concerns regarding Austin's hot temper and help him to make the right decision.

Austin is a hunky, 6'5"/240 lbs., mechanic who won't back down in a fight. While Austin admittedly is quick to anger, he is completely smitten with and a teddy-bear for his BF, Zach. Zach is a 30-year-old twink who's a city-planner; he's a nerdy, bibliophile who has fallen hard for Austin.

I’m sure that for the fans of the urban fantasy genre, Astrid Amara is probably one of the goddess of that field, but I have to admit that I absolutely love her light comedy romance: this is the third I read of her seasonal romances and they are one better than the other.
In this one, Zach and Austin are quite a recent couple, just six months into their relationship and they are still on the boyfriends stage; true, Austin would like to move on the next level, but Zach is reluctant, he is scare t...more

I’m still catching up on all the holiday stories in my queue and this fun, adorable story jumps out. The writing is very good and the emotion is clearly translated through the men, their relationship, the struggles, and the quiet moments. There is hot sex and a lot of it but it also feels like the story is tempered and doesn’t need to include every single scene. I liked that balance and it helps create a more interesting dynamic within the relationship. The story is a bit over the top but never...more
Family duty has led to Zach agreeing to drive his Grandmother’s ancient car over a thousand miles across country to her new home near Zach’s parents. Austin, Zach’s mechanic boyfriend isn’t too impressed with the rustbucket, especially when it blows a gasket and strands them in Idaho. It turns out that a car needing repair is the least of their worries on this trip, leading to the pair having to face up to where their relationship is heading.

Another well written interesting story from Astrid Amara.
First and foremost we have the wonderful romance between Zach and Austin. My heart belonged to Austin I must admit. Although there is a wonderfully emotional scene near the end from Zach that had me tearing up but in a good way lol.
There is a touch of suspense that again adds to the story without taking it over. In my opinion its handled perfectly, being both detailed enough without dragging things out.

This Chanukah fic starts with an established couple: Zach and Austin. They're an engaging pair with realistic problems to overcome. Zach is crazy optimistic most of the time, but the thought of moving in with Austin terrifies him. And Austin must learn to think before acting--and to stop bringing up condo-hunting every two seconds!
Their road trip together makes for a fine holiday adventure--as long as you can forgive them for poor choices along the way. (Austin, you're a mechanic. Check out that...more

My first Hanukkah story! If I'd been thinking, I'd have saved this one for December, but oh well. If you can have Christmas in July then I guess you can have Hanukkah in July, too!
A cute story about two guys, a road trip, a hand full of disasters, and meeting the folks for the first time. Zach's got some clearly defined issues about the relationship, which he's able to work out over the course of the story. Austin has a few issues, too, which he's willing to work on keep Zach. I was not only expecting delays on this road trip adventure, I was expecting rollicking good times, funny situations & characters experiencing some kind of epiphany. This doesn't quite fulfill that. It's more of a light hanukkah holiday story. The two main characters zach & Austin start their road trip when they are at a crossroad in their relationship where they have to make a decision on whether they should take it to the next level. Zach is the eternal optimist of the duo, but he's st...more
I really enjoyed the premise of this story – two guys (boyfriends) on a road trip to meet up with one of their families for the holiday. In this case, Zach is trying to be the hero and deliver his grandmother’s very old car to her. He takes his boyfriend Austin along for the ride thinking he can do his good deed, they can have a bit of an adventure, and Zach can introduce Austin to his family for the first time. Great thought, but everything sort of goes to hell in a hand basket!

Zach and Austin have been dating for a while and Austin wants him to move in. Zach has had some bad dating experiences and is leery but decides that a road trip might be just the thing to see if they are compatible and also means he can deliver his Grandmother's car to Denver. Austin is NOT thrilled given the age of the car, plus it's winter as they are going to celebrate Hanukkah with Zach's family. And really, everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. The car breaks down, they are...more

I really enjoyed this short story. Austin and Zach have been together for a while. Austin would like for the two of them to move in together, but Zach doesn't seem to want to take this step. He has been in a few relatonships that bordered on abuse and he is afraid of taking the wrong decision. Even if Austin has a temper, Zach can see how cherished he is by his lover. The long trip they take to deliver Zach's grandma's car to her will force them to know their lover better and to overcome the dou...more

This story packed a lot in for such a relatively short novella, and wins points for being a road trip in a granny car with crocheted seat covers! Austin and Zach were both interesting individuals with great chemistry and there was enough conflict and excitement in the plot to keep me turning the pages quickly. This was my first read of Astrid Amara's work, but I'll definitely read more from her in the future. Recommended to anyone who enjoys sweet and sexy contemporary m/m romances.

This was really adorable and fun! It's a very easy read - I had an EXTREMELY quiet shift day at work, so pulled my Kindle out of my handbag and managed to read the whole story by the end of my shift. I wasn't being lazy, I swear. But when you work mid-week shifts at a museum and have zero people walking through the door, you'd bring your Kindle to work too ;)

Love Ahead: Expect Delays by Astrid Amara is a light-hearted and sexy little novella. A simple favor turns into an adventure laden road trip from Washington to Colorado that proves to be a turning point in Zach and Austin’s six month relationship. This is the story about Zach and Austin, whi take a road trip to drive the car of Zach´s grandmother from Seattle to Boulder, Colorado. They have been together about six months, and although Austin knows he is in the relationship for the long haul, Zach is unsure. He hopes that this trip will give him the answer.
Some parts of this book felt a little over the top. So many things happen to the guys during their trip. It starts with little things and then snowballs into bigger things.

Zach and Aaron undertake a road trip to Zach's parents for Hannuka, 6 months into their relationship.
Murphy's law applies to this trip, everything that can go wrong does! But along the way they find that sometimes
being polar opposites is exactly the right thing to be.
Fun, sweet story!

LOVE this story! Zach and Austin were on a road trip, in Zach's Bubbie's old car, on their way to Zach's parents house to celebrate Hanukkah. In less than ten days they experienced bad weather, robberies, blown gasket, got in an almost-fight, run-ins with police, some questionably funky smell motels, and of course hawt sex, before finally reaching their destination.

An entertaining holiday-road-trip story with very well played opposites attract theme. The dialogue was believable, the characters three dimensional and easy to understand and like, the sex smoking and the romance still in its vulnerable stages.

I love this author's contemporary romances. This book is no exception. This couple have been together already for 6 months and while I usually like seeing the 'beginning' of relationships in romance novels, this story wraps you up in the building love and uncertainty that the 2 men feel about each other as their relationship progresses to that next level... or not! The 'road trip' plot is fraught with setbacks and the various side characters/villians they meet along the way all contribute to swa...more
