The story continues right from the event of book #3, Bring On The Night. Ciara has only been turned into a vampire and it is now the wedding day for her (human) best-friend, Lori, and her (human) boss, David. Except a call from Jim, saying "Code Black", changes everything ...

I only found out from another reviewer that this novella was supposed to be a full-length book, except the author was only contracted for 4 books. So instead, she decided to make a free novella in order for ev...more

This was a pretty good novella. Definitely needs to be read before reading book 4 in the series. I can tell that it's a segue between events.

Oh man, Jim. I should have known that he'd end up this way, but I wasn't expecting this. Why in the hell is he so obsessed with Ciara, anyway? He said they have a cosmic connection. Talk about crazy talk.

I like that she was able to meet some of her family members. Even with what she kept from them, it seemed like they forgave her in the end. She did come t...more

In an unprecedented move, Jeri Smith-Ready publishes an essential piece of her WVMP Radio series in an e-book novella format. Longtime fans of this urban fantasy series, including me, have been eagerly awaiting LET IT BLEED. The verdict? While a refreshing dip back into the WVMP Radio world, LET IT BLEED’s novella length does make it feel a bit rushed and incomplete.

As ever, Ciara’s witty narration carries readers’ enjoyment of the story, but—and this may just be me—I wonder if the series may be...more

I appreciate Smith-Ready's willingness to write great quality stories even if she's letting anybody read it for free on her website. Let it Bleed is certainly important to the overall plot of the WVMP series, since major changes occur, especially with Jim and Monroe. This novella also features a tie-in storyline from Smith-Ready's short story published in Eternal: More Love Stories with Bite. After recently skimming through a bunch of new authors, reading a trusted author whom I've read for year...more

This little novella has so many pivotal actions in it I was short of breath ! Truly amazing addition to the series. If you read this series you do not want to miss this book. Of course Dexter,(vampire dog) one of my favorite characters got his four paws in. The WVMP gang is there and they are in for a rough ride. There is romance, blood, visiting extended family members ( can be the scariest of all, LOL), totally bonkers friend, a wedding, broken bones, stakes through the heart, a lot of blood a...more

If I understand correctly, this novella was originally meant to be book four in this series with book five coming along later to wrap the whole thing up. The author, I think, only had a contract through book four, so in order to guarantee her readers get the complete story, she opted to whittle this book down and make book five into book four. She then made this novella available to her fans for free in e-book format.

I think that's an awesome thing for her to do. :D

I also think that if you've re...more

4 1/2 stars! A fascinating return to the world of WVMP and those vampires who have found a sanctuary at the radio station. Ciara is adapting to the radical changes in her life but her friend Lori is not quite comfortable with the new version of her best friend. The chaos engendered by the vampire Jim escalates as he spirals out of control, threatening all that Ciara values. Unfamiliar family ties involving the nomadic Travellers complicate an already complex situation as the amazing properties o...more

I love novellas. I love taking little mini journeys into some of my favorite literary worlds. I love the extra information a reader can gain from them and I love that reading them in one sitting is practically nothing and I love the escape they provide for a few hours.Normally novellas are not a necessary part of a series, however that is not the case with Let It Bleed. This novella is an integral part of the series and the events of this book will...more

A fun stop into the WVMP world, the free novella that Ms. Smith-Ready put up on her website as a filler till the next full length novel came out felt like a full length novel. Lots of meat, not a lot of filler and a great progression with the characters. I would recommended it even to people who haven't read the rest of the series as a way to see if this is a series for you. Yes you have to backtrack if you start reading the whole series afterwards but I swear this is well worth it. Jeri's vamps...more

Excerpt from my review - originally published at Offbeat YA.

Pros: Original take on the overused vampire theme. Interesting, mostly tridimensional characters.
Cons: Abundance of gore. A graphic sex scene. Nonetheless...slightly boring.
Will appeal to: Those who like this series...duh.

So, well - the cat is out of the box. I was extremely careful not to spoil anything in my review of Bring on the Night (the previous chapter of this series), but since the very blurb for this one is a tattle-tale, the...more

Let It Bleed (WVMP Radio # 3.5) is a nice little bridge that covers the gap between what happened in Bring on the Night and what will happen in Lust for Life. If you haven't read this series before, uhm, why not? It has everything UF fans love. Really awesome characters, romance, suspense, mystery, and yes, humor. I would seriously recommend reading this series in order (Wicked Game, Bad to the Bone, Bring on the Night, and of course, Let it Bleed.)

Ugh. There is honestly not much I can say about Let It Bleed without spoiling the story. I'll just say...things happen. BIG, BIG THINGS. There's death (!), blood (duh), sexy times (YES!), and most of all, Shane and Ciara. These two -- they're my favorite. The risks they take for one another, the team they have formed into, the pure love they share. I just can't... I love them. Oh, and just when I think I can't possibly love Shane more, he goes and plays an acoustic version of "Everlong". Only fa...more

This was a fun one, one that I think will bridge the last 2 books in a great way. Ciarra is still struggling with the recent changes to her life. At times she is ok, at others she is in meltdown mode. It is a good thing that she has people that care about her around her. Although some of them care a little too much. That part of the story shocked me, along with some of the consequences that came along with it.

I really liked how the short story from Eternal: More Love Stories with Bite played a b...more

I hadn't intended to read this, not because of dislike for the series, it's quite the contrary I really like the series, but due to time constraints. To many books and not enough time. The thing is when I started reading Lust for Life they were talking about this happening and that happening and I go wait... hold the phone, who did what now. So I went back and read this and I'm so happy that I did. It's a great in between to keep the story rolling.
Lots of interesting stuff going on, we see more...more

This novella is about half the size of a full novel, but definitely moves the story line of the series forward. This was a good story, as well as a good refresher as to what was going on before sitting down to read the final novel in this series.

I also really appreciate the lengths the author went to to give us a complete series when the publisher refused a book five.

Let It Bleed lives u to it's name. The story allows a glimpse into Ciara's maternal family members and bridges the gap neatly between books 3 and 4. This series just keeps getting more interesting and with only one book to go I am curious to find out if Ciara ever gets her HEA.

I love the WVMP world and it was wonderful to rejoin it again even if only for a short time. And how wonderful is the author to give it to us for free!! Lots of very important moments happen in this short story, and I look forward to where the story goes from here.

For the most part, novellas usually stink...just an author's way of getting us to fork out money for boring content. Let it Bleed is definitely an exception to that rule. It was an action packed story with tons of emotions and plot stuffed into a tiny package.

This is a really fun novella and a significant piece of the WVMP puzzle, so if you're a fan of the series (and you should be!) make your way to the author's website and download the story, at very least before you read the 4th book in November 2012. It's free, so there's no reason not to do it. This is a big transition story, it's the one where Ciara deals with her new situation. And her friends deal with it too. Some well, some not so well. Plus they're all dealing with their normal levels of c...more

This story takes place between books 3 and 4 of the WVMP series so don't read it unless you've read book 3 as it's a continuation of the story - not an offshoot tale.

Excellent WVMP novella! Always love Ciara, Shane, and the gang. Sorry for this part of the story end, but super stoked to start book 4 which I received from the publisher last week. Woohoo!!

Like the other books in the series, this was awesome!!
It's got love, friendship, love, blood, sex, music! What more can you ask?

If you're following this series, this is a must-read! It's an action-packed novella that feels like a full-length novel.

Continues in the same style. Action in a perfect mix of slower parts. Unpredictable so you never know what is waiting on the next page. Makes you want to never put it down.

That was OMG AWESOME!!! for all you WVMP fans out there this is a MUST. Can't wait for Lust For Life out on 27th November.

Let me start by saying that if you haven't read this series yet you are MISSING OUT, big time. Absolutely love the characters, and the plots are always incredibly interesting.

This is a pivotal instalment in the series, and it leads up to the final book, Lust for Life, which will be released this fall. So many great moments in this one, which I can't mention without being spoiler-y for the series, and there's crazy jaw dropping action as well.

Basically: love, love loveeeeeee, and I can't WAIT for...more

Really good. I'm enjoying this series immensely & sad that it will end after the next book.
Kim
The downside to reading all the available books at once...you feel sort of flat knowing there's still a wait for the last one.

Awesome novella. Review to come.
