Goodreads Summary:

High school junior Francesca Manning is an outsider, an aspiring writer and secret devourer of celebrity gossip mags. A fake essay to Seventeen wins her the celeb-schmoozing opportunity of a lifetime, but after the plane crashes, she's stranded on a desert island with five of the most clueless, self-involved headcases to escape Hollywood. When her father left her mother to live with an airhead, Fran understood. ANYONE would have trouble living with Fran's mother. But when her father told her the airhead was pregnant, Fran had to kill him...at least on paper. She submitted an essay entitled, "Good-bye Father: A Daughter's Loss" to Seventeen Magazine's "My Life" essay contest. She didn't expect to win.

When she got the phone call, Fran was astounded. Since she lied about her father's demise, she knows she ca More...

Being stuck on a deserted island with 5 celebrities should be glamorous, romantic, and much more, but it isn't! You couldn't find people with fewer survival skills if you tired! Being marooned on an island somewhere off the coast of madagascar with these people makes me really want to go home even though everything there is messed up too. Being stuck on this island is like being on a group therapy edition of Survivor! If I'm stuck here much longer, these self-involved head cases might drive me More...

Let me begin by saying this review is going to have a lot of spoilers. At least, I think it will. So be forewarned.

To Begin:

"Are You Going to Kiss Me Now?" looked pretty promising from the reviews here on Goodreads. People said it was laugh-out-loud funny...they found the main character, Francesca, relatable. I'll admit, I found myself laughing more than once while reading this book. (Notable: Milan comes barreling after Francesca when she is trying to save the turtle...)

Are You Going To Kiss Me Now? is a very well written book. In this review I am going to go through characters, what I liked and didn't like, initial thoughts, and after thought. This review will touch basis with possible spoilers, but I won't spoil anything! Promise!

Okay so let's start with the plotline. This story is about a girl named Francesca who is stranded on an island with 5 celebrities and their hilarious efforts to get off. Honestly the summary that Goodreads provides is all you need t

This was extremely entertaining--I read it at one sitting, which tells you it held my attention. It's over the top,but in an age where someone as useless as Kim Kardassian can get famous simply for being famous, the cult of celebrity itself has gone over the top.

The fake celebrities and the stand in for Perez Hilton are well drawn and Francesca is a funny narrator. However, this is going to date faster than most of the real celebrities and fads that it mentions. Glad I was able to buy it in pape More...

What would it be like to be stranded on an island? What would it be like to be stranded on an island with a bunch of skill-less celebrities? Such is the premise of this novel about survival - both in the wilderness and in Hollywood.

When Francesca hears that her father is having a baby with his new girlfriend during a separation from her mother, her writes a fictional story in which she's dealing with his death - a story that wins her a trip to Africa with a bunch of celebrities. All she has to d More...

Are You Going to Kiss Me Now is an entertaining read that had me literally laughing out loud on many occasions. Definitely one for the beach it’s a story built for casual entertainment.

After having a bit of a familial spat Frannie writes an essay for a contest in Seventeen Magazine. Fraudulently representing a catastrophic situation within it’s text she is stunned when she wins the contest. Now heading out for a philanthropic trip to trip to Africa with a group of celebrities she’s trying to dev More...

I first fell in love with Sloane Tanen's work when someone bought me "Hatched" - the little witty chicks and pregnancy book (which makes a fabulous baby shower gift, btw) :) This is her first YA novel and I'm thrilled to be on the same Sourcebooks Fire author list with her. In our celebrity-drenched culture, this novel is not only funny, it's really relevant.

I really loved this book. It's more than just funny; it's laugh out loud hilarious. The characters are relatable (I'm obsessed with tabloids too, Francesca! You're not alone) and fresh; some of my favorite characters EVER out of all of the books i've read. Both the book and the humor were original. "Are You Going to Kiss Me Now?" was a twist on anything I would expect, complete with some shockers and plenty of secrets that are constantly being let out... Gosh, it's a real page turner! ARE YOU GOING TO KISS ME NOW?, by Sloane Tanen, is a hilarious and fun adventure about being stranded on an island with celebrities. Francesca may not be a celebrity but soon realizes her life may not be so different from her famous fellow strandees.

Right from the start I loved this book. Tanen made me fall in love with Francesca. Francesca was no celebrity debutant, she had frizzy red hair and her figure was far from the rail-thin celebrities she secretly adored. Her attitude and smarts made m More...

I'm lovin' all the great summer reads I've been sent lately. Are You Going To Kiss Me Now? was the funniest novel I've read in a long time. It took me back to the day when Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie started The Simple Life. Posh celebrities and their lifestyles crack me up. If they only knew how the other half of us live, right? This novel had the same kind of humor. I literally wanted to reach in and smack some of the characters for being so dumb.

One word... Hilarious! It made me laugh so hard quite a few times. It is one of silliest books I have read so far. Well, it was silly, but not in a bad way. It might be neither very realistic nor original, but it sure was the kind of book I would read after reading an emotional one. It was that entertaining.

Francesca was so adorable with her wild red hair and sassy attitude. I liked how she adapted herself to the surrounding environment, but not the fact that she "killed" her father. Being with More...

At First Sight:
The concept of this book is strangely hilarious. I mean, who would get stranded on a desert island with five other celebrities? I was attracted by the fact that it seemed very funny and just interesting. I wanted to know where Francesca would end and how everything would play out.

It's just like Survivor, except they are not there on purpose. It is just like Gilligan's Island, except they do not have an endless supply of wardrobe and a Professor. It is just like Lost, except I never watched Lost so I can't tell you why it isn't just like Lost, but I suspect it's a lot funnier than Lost was. It's actually quite like Madagascar, except the hippo character is jonesing for a cigarette and the giraffe can't take his eyes off the lion's ass.

The first thing I have to say about this book is that everything about it was misleading. The cover, the title, the synopsis... they are pointed to a fun, romantic comedy. In reality, what I got was a book full of bickering and I would say zero romance.

Its has been about a month or two since I finished reading Are You Going to Kiss Me Now? and I can honestly I say there is still a ton of mixed feelings present about this book. While it was not at all what I was expecting, I found myself glued to More...

As one of the characters remarks, this is sort of a mashup of Lord of the Flies and the National Enquirer (more like TMZ, I'd say, but whatev). It took me a little while to warm up to this one, mostly because the MC Francesca is kind of a pain in the butt. Also, boy, she has a lot of nicknames, not really confusing, just kind of wtf (it's cute that she notices it, too). But, I digress. Because irrespective of what name she's going by (Bam?), she pretty much stays a pain in the butt through the w More...

I found Sloane Tanen's "Are You Going to Kiss Me Now" an endearing departure from some of the overly romantic YA fiction you'd find today.

The main character, Francesca, through some unsavory means, finds herself on a flight filled with celebrities. When the plane goes down on a deserted island, that's when the real fun begins. I loved the different personalities for each of the celebrities. Some had obvious real-world inspirations, while others seemed like combinations of people you'd see daily More...

Are You Going To Kiss Me Now? is an enjoyable, lighthearted read.

Sixteen year old Francesca Manning wins an essay contest for Seventeen magazine (never mind the non-fiction piece she wrote is fraudulent.) Her prize is the opportunity of a lifetime--traveling to Africa on a humanitarian mission with five celebrities. Sounds exciting, eh? Not so fast. These celebrities are over-the-top, self-absorbed, pampered, complaining beasts.

Francesca finds out soon enough, the ‘prize’ is more like a punishm More...

Francesca Manning is an average girl, who wishes her life was a little better. She is secretly addicted to celebrity gossip magazines, so when the prize in Seventeen magazine for a writing contest is to go to a disadvantaged country with a whole bunch of celebrities she embellishes just a little bit to win. For instance, maybe her Dad isn't really dead like she said he was. Of course, nothing turns out the way she thought it would. For one thing all of the celebrities are jerks. Then they all ge More...

I absolutely loved this book. Everything from the premise to the characters was amazing! The idea was what first caught me. I think everybody has thought about being stranded on a deserted island with your favorite celebrity. Unlike fantasies this story didn't play out all kumbaya and friendship circles. There was constant fighting and everyone had their flaws and past problems. Most of the characters in this book were jerks. They all had despicable traits to them, but there was something very r More...

Are you looking for a dumb but fun book? DING DING DING DING, have I found a winner for you! In fact, it starts with a winner - of a Seventeen essay contest. Of course, Francesca's essay is more James Frey than Bossypants, but who's counting? Not her! Not when the first place distinction means she gets to travel to Africa on a humanitarian mission with some bonafide teen celebrities. Sort of.
