I am debating my shelf between a 3 or a 4 star <-

The second book of The Dark Ink Chronicles, “Everdark” by Elle Jasper continues the story of Riley a tatoo artists beeing attacked from both those Romania vampires Valerian and Victorian. The results of this attack if Rilley to have both in her DND the stigoi blood and the results for her and the people arround her are become deadly because not only She has a connection with one of the brother Victorian, causing problems with her relationship w...more

Everdark is the second book in the Dark Ink Chronicles by Elle Jasper. The story follows Riley Poe a famous Savannah tattoo artist who now finds that she is recovering from being bitten by two vampires; Valerian and Victorian Arcos. Unlike her brother Seth who nearly became a newling vampire during the events of Afterlight, Riley has the venom of two strigoi vampires coursing throughout her body, changing her DNA, and giving...more

So this is more of a filler book, a connector between books one and three. It was good. We get to watch Riley grow and become something strong, but the book didn't really lead anywhere. There isn't an overall plot and it won't be long before I forget this book all together. Again, I was entertained and I will read book three but there was just nothing memorable about this story. Make sure you watch for my video review, which will be posted here: http://bit.ly/RN2j5n

Riley Poe is tattoo artist in her hometown of Savannah. She works with her best friend Nyx Foster. Riley also takes care of her fifteen year old brother Seth. Riley is in love with Eli Dupre. They are on Da Gullah Island to help Riley, Seth, and Seth's friends overcome and accept vampric tendencies they all have now. Riley is still haunted by Victorian Arcos in dreams which she has no control over. Eli wants Riley and Seth to train with his whole family in case he's not with her for her own prot...more

I really wish I could say that this book was better than Afterlight, but it wasn’t. All of the things I disliked about the first book were in Everdark as well, only worse. For starters, I think this book totally ruined whatever spark Eli and Riley had in the first book. All I get from these two is sex, her thinking about how hot he is, and him being possessive of her. Now I don’t mind a little possessiveness in a man, but with Eli, it’s too much. And he (along with a couple of other characters),...more

Urgh this book annoyed me a lot.(view spoiler)[
I really thought the first few chapters where unnecessary. Her "rehab" could've been explained in a chapter.
I got tired of always hearing about how hot/sexy/breathtaking/zomg! Eli was and how she couldn't contain herself whenever he looked at or touched her.

I understand that sex scenes spice a book up but really just once would have sufficed. Explaining in detail every single sex scene got boring. If those scenes where taken out the book wouldn't be

Everdark is the second installment of Elle Jasper’s Dark Ink Chronicles series that follows reformed troublemaker and now tattoo artist Riley Poe.

Everdark picks up where Afterlight left off. Riley has been bitten by both Arcos brothers, Valerian and Victorian, and she has been taken to Da Island for healing. Her rehab has taken longer than initially expected and when she is finally recuperated she discovers her vampiric tendencies. Eli quickly throw...more

No spoilers. Here is just my annoyances with the book as a whole. I'm early twenties and I got so annoyed with the whole "bro", "dude" nonsense considering that they are supposed to be 200+ years old. They really didn't act like someone from the 18th century. Eli especially for me was annoying considering he was very insecure and immature all the time. Almost every time they were together he had to establish his dominance and say how much she is his. Plus, I know already that you find feisty gir...more

Riley's entire life was turned upside down when her brother was almost changed into a vampire in the last book. In order to save him she almost lost her life and now has some vampiric tendencies that can be hard to control. She's different from any of the others who were taken as she was bitten by not just one, but two of them. She still has her Dupre lover, Eli, at her side, but when one of the brothers who bit her starts messing with her dreams and her mind things get a little strained. Meanwh...more

Before I write a review I like to mention what I liked about the book because if I didn't like something about it then I would never have finished it.

I like that it has a punk/goth atmosphere, the Hoodoo, the different mythos of vampires, that it takes place in Savannah, that she is raising her brother, that owns her own business, and can kick ass.

Now what I don't like is that I keep feeling like I'm reading a Punk/Goth Twilight but naughty. The over protective jealous boyfriend vampire, being a...more

The second book of The Dark Ink Chronicles, “Everdark” by Elle Jasper continues the story of Riley, a badass tattoo artist. The story starts when Riley is recovering from her attack by Valerian and Victorian, two Romanian vampires. Now she has some weird powers because of their biting and she tries to continue her life even if she has a weird mind connection with Victorian, a situation that bothers a lot her boyfriend (and vampire) Eli. Of course, the danger is more real than ever for her and fo...more

Alright. So I'm a little disappointed in Everdark. The story of Riley Poe and her gang of vamps became a little redundant. I was in denial about how redundant because I LOVED Afterlight and was so stoked about reading the sequel.

Aside from the introduction of Noah Miles, the characters are basically the same...except for Valerian who is somehow inhabiting someone elses body and Grim who is basically the Preacher-man of Charleston to a T.

Everything else, the same. Eli and Riley have a lot more...more

Riley Poe, my favorite tattooed bad-ass and the love of Eli Dupre's, life is back. But now girlfriend has got "tendencies" thanks to Valerian and Victorian Arcos's near death attack on her. They are the sadistic vampire brothers that were raised from their entombment in Afterlight. This installment leaves Riley fighting for her life as well as her sanity all while keeping up with her hotter than hell vampire boyfriend. It seems that some of the newlings made by the Arcoses are killing everything...more

Another strong novel my Elle Jasper. The story picks up right were the first book leaves off and is action packed. The relationship between Riley and Eli is built upon and a new conflict is added by another one-sided romantic interest for Riley. The one nit I have about this book is the authors approached to increasing Riley's use of profanity. Unlike the first novel, this novel was broken into a lot of parts. At the beginning of each there is a quote from someone of the authors choosing that is...more

Everdark picks up again right after the ending of Afterlight. Riley has been bitten by not one but two vampires with the strongest bloodline ever known. She awakens at a detox camp where she has been for several weeks going through withdrawals like a drug addiction. Riley now has special abilities. She can run faster, jump from building tops, fight just as good as a vampire and will live for a very long time. Along with Eli and his family she now hunts rogue vampires. Her brother Seth also now h...more

This a tale of love and meh. The first book of the Dark Ink Chronicles, Afterlight, came out last year and when I stumbled on it, I gobbled it up and wanted to read the sequel immediately. Fast forward six months later and to Everdark. Which by the end had me teetering between the cliff hanger ending rush and a strange ambivalence regarding the rest of the book.

Elle Jasper desperately needed a structural editor and proof reader for this second book and I'm not sure why she didn't get one from Si...more

Now, bad-ass Riley Poe has vampiric tendencies and is, somehow, even more bad-ass.
Riley is one of my favorite main characters. She is very independent, and doesn't need a man to protect her, even before she had 2 ancient vampires out to get her blood. Eli is a bit too overprotective of her in my opinion. I often find myself wishing he would back off some.
After everything that happened in book 1, Afterlight, I was thrilled to get to know...more

This book is probably a 3.5/5 for me. I enjoyed it but not as much as the first one.

The beginning of the book seemed to drag out and I found myself getting bored with repetitive scenes they could have been cut out. The end half is where it picks up and I loved it.

Eli is struggling with his possessiveness, he doesn't want anyone else touching what is his. At times it got annoying but I still love him. A new character in this book I adored, Noah Miles who is another vampire from out of town who h...more

This is probably not a good thing and authors probably hate people like me, but I judge a book by how difficult it is to put down. If I'm constantly looking at the percentage at the bottom of the Kindle, wondering how much more I have to read, then it's not a great book by my standards. If I'm willing to stay up until 3 AM just to finish reading it, then it's good.

I can't say why I didn't think this book was great. It's plot was interesting enough. I think it was too wordy about things I wasn't...more

I would like this series so much more if Riley wasn't so stupid 75% of the time. She makes me want to punch her and get her to think logically. She's tough but in this world of vampires and other creatures she isn't all that. She knows this yet continues to act like a 5 year old and doesn't listen to anyone. If I was Eli I'd kick her to the curb. This is another series where I don't get the fascination with the main female character. Yes she's tough and has hot tattoos. So far that's about the d...more

I gave it 3.5 stars

I absolutely LOVED AFTERLIGHT and could not wait to get my hands on EVERDARK. Riley and Eli's relationship is a bit easier now but it seems like they consume each other and have a hard time being at all apart and it ended up being a bit annoying having them all over eachother at every moment. Riley is also fighting against the venom that is now in her system from the attack on her from Valerian and Victorian at the end of boo...more

I liked this one ALOT better than the first. I loved that we got to see more of the Dupres in action and get to know them a little better. They just fascinate me. Interestign twist with the Arcoses that I didn;t see coming. Even though I do love him, Eli kind of got on my nerves in this one. I mean, I know that situation would suck, but I feel like he shouldn't take it out on Riley. It's not like she wants it. Noah was a fun character and I look forward to getting to know him better. I was just...more

In this book Riley deals with her emotions for Eli and her found power/strength. She gets a little big head in this book because of her new found abilities. She wants to deal with every bad guy by herself and she still doesn't learn from her mistake...after the incident with her best friend. Riley and Victorian goes back and forth...from dream to mind speaking to in person. The whole Victorian situation is really a cluster. Eli and Riley are on a whole nother level when it comes to intimacy...it...more

This is the second book in the Riley Poe series, we find out more about the vampires that have taken over the two towns and the changes that are happening to Riley. She has all sorts of weird things happening to her and doesn't bother to tell anyone about it, what was more annoying is everyone was keeping secrets from her too that if they all would have just sat down and had some full disclosure some of the stupid decisions wouldn't have happened. I'm slowly getting fed up with this strong bad g...more

Everdark- Book Two in the Dark Ink Chronicles Series
This is one of those series that you are going to either enjoy or feel is trite. I fall into the enjoy category, and feel that the unique properties of this story far outweigh the trope genre expectations that are fulfilled. It is, however, most definitely a gritty urban fantasy and paranormal romance; meaning lots of ass-kicking and lots of sex.
Picking up right where Afterlight, the first book in the series, left off—Everdark pulls us in as...more

Riley is back and she is just as much as a badass as before. The story is interesting and Riley’s life only gets more dangerous as her tendencies start to show. Although she is just as "wicked" I can’t say this book was as good as the first. Some of the plot dragged until finally the action showed up, but when it did, it wasn’t a disappointment. The fighting and love scenes are fun and make this book worthwhile to read. I can’t wait until the third book comes out because Riley’s life is far from...more

I still think that the main character Riley Poe has too few consequensences for everything she gets up to. She doesn't listen to anyone. But I do like the Dupre family vampires. They work together well. Maybe they will have a larger role in books to come. It is strange to keep reading a series when you don't really like the main character. She thinks she is so mature because of all she went through in her youth but she has not learned to listen to others and that everyone needs help sometimes to...more

Elle Jasper spent her youth buried in the pages of Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, and Stephen King. Growing up on the salt marshes of Savannah, Georgia, she was always fascinated by the city’s ancient cobblestones, eerie church spires and Gothic Revival architect—as well as the dark, not-so-publicized side of Savannah, both steeped in tumultuous history. After an education at Armstron...more
