I found this weaker than the first book in the series - too much convenience and the introduction of a number of characters that I didn't really care about. Plus Moon-types abound and I would have liked something fresh and new. Very readable and engaging but not something that stands-out.

While I thought the first book was a lot like The Warrior's Apprentice , this second installment of the Vatta's War series is darker. I liked it and I'm intrigued to see where the story ends up.
