I like Valdez. He's always been a main character and provided comic releaf. So I miss him.

But I like Rafe. Why on earth did his character change so much just because he's no longer a dog? I like Valdez. He's always been a main character and provided comic releaf. So I miss him.

But I like Rafe. Why on earth did his character change so much just because he's no longer a dog? Even the author realizes she changed his character drastically becxause there's a throw-away line where Rafe admits that Valdez was a "persona he wore while in the dog suit." For five years he pretended to be someone he wasn't? I find that hard to believe. It's easier to believe that the author just wanted to write a new character without creating one.

I also usually dislike Jerry. He isn't good for Glory. He always wants to control her. He never supports or believes in her. She can do better. No woman deserves a man who thinks she can't survive without him.

So why does Glory stay with Jerry when Rafe is her best friend? Rafe believes in her, supports her, and protects her without coddling her. He's also way hotter than Jerry (or at least he is written that way.)

Glory should be with her best friend - the guy she never keeps secrets from. In every book there has been something Glory couldn't tell Jerry because she knew he'd overreact. She can always tell Rafe the important things. I don't understand why the author tried to dance around all that in this book. I just feel bad for Glory. She tries to be a strong woman and then she just isn't.

Finally, even Glory was a bit frustrating in this book. In the first book she was determined to be on her own two feet. Jerry gifted her a new car and she refused it. She kept her clunker. But in this book she willingly took a free car, free insurance, and free gas? All from her worst enemy? And yet she believes she is strong and independent just because it didn't come from Jerry?

Most of the books I love have strong, independent women as main characters. Those are the qualities I admire when I read, but Glory just doesn't have that vibe anymore. So while parts of the book were enjoyable, most of it was just disappointing. (less)

Light-hearted and zany, this hilarious vampire series is a hoot. Readers who enjoy the paranormal romances books by Kerrelyn Sparks will definitely enjoy this one too!

Glory St. Clair is a vampire who declared independence from her handsome maker Jeremy Blade. Jeremy is the love of Glory's life. He wants to marry her and shower her with his riches but, unfortunately, he also smothers her. Jeremy turned Glory into a vampire in the 1600's and his old fashioned views of women are stifling. Glory realizes that she has to try to stand on her own 2 feet, so she has separated from him. But her good friend Flo is getting married and her husband to-be has asked Jeremy to be his best man! In addition, a past love interest named Ray is also coming to town on unrelated business and Jeremy and Ray hate each other! Plus, her best-friend and ex-furry guardian, Rafe has now transformed into a good-looking guy who is sending out flirtations to Glory. And she can't but help notice how hunky he is. But Rafe's ex- wife is bent on causing trouble for her.

When she thinks things couldn't get worse she is attacked by 2 humans bent on murdering her because she had to kill their father (a vampire slayer) in self defense. And she has been put in charge of throwing bachelorette party! Will Glory survive the stress?

Glory grows on you. I liked that she is not the typical thin heroine and has plenty of curves. Glory is a bit self-conscious about her looks and mourns that she was turned vampire when she feels she was overweight. Because of this she lacks some self-confidence and is very relatable. I also liked that she is very girly and feisty. Her main squeeze, Jeremy, is very sexy and I enjoyed them together. The entire casts of characters are also fun to read. Even the villains are caricatures that are amusing in their own ways. But this story also had some surprising twists that kept it fast-paced and upbeat. I really wanted to know how the long relationship between Glory and Jeremy would turn out. I felt they were good for each other but has issues that needed to be resolved.

This is an entertaining series. Glory's love life is a mess, and it is fun to read her trying to juggle all her relationships and death threats. Quirky, optimistic and unabashedly cheerful, this book will lighten your mood and keep you wanting more.

The best one so far! We learn more about the hot and sexy Rafe. He's a little more then just a shifter. Glory still up to her "I'm independent" tricks. Between running her vintage clothing shop, planning her best friend’s bachelorette party, dodging vampire hunters, and dealing with the bitchy matter of demon possession, Glory is trying to sort through the conundrum of amorous men and decide who will keep her heart.

This is the sixth book in Gerry Bartlett’s Real Vampire series. It’s written in first person and is what I would describe as urban fantasy meets chick lit. The story is about Glory’s journey to become her own woman with hilarious outtakes along the way.

It took several chapters for me to get into the story. Characters had several names that were often interchanged and that gets confusing for a new reader, especially in the beginning. However, fans of the series should have no problems with the nicknames and aliases.

One gross out factor was when Glory shifts into a roach. Ewww and ick was all I could think while I shivered through the scene and having flashbacks of reading The Metamorphosis by Frank Kafta in college. Again, double ick.

And moving on to other things…

Glory gets her groove on with her roommate/former bodyguard, Rafael Valdez, while her on/off again lover, Jeremy Blade, is out of town. A smokin’ hot shifter, Rafe has been in love Glory for five years and with Blade out of the picture he’s going all out to prove it.

The problem is, Glory and Blade aren’t on a “break.” So, she’d cheating on him and blames her infidelity on the bitchy demon temporarily inhabiting her body. Glory admits that she’s always been attracted to Rafe, but she’d been able to control herself until she became possessed. As a modern woman, I didn’t care for this type of “out.” People, and vampires, can make mistakes. I think we’re way past the age of the “the devil made me do it.”

I did like the way that Glory tried to handle her other problems herself, not wanting to rely on her friends, and lovers, to take care of everything for her. Kudos for that although it wasn’t enough for me to empathize with her when she was waffling between men. In the end, she hurt several men who adored her. Since I’m a romantic at heart, this bothered me, a lot.

Glory does fess up to her indiscretion as soon as Blade returns and then has to work through the consequences. Through this, she learns that she truly does love Blade and he’s the one she wants to stick with.
In the end, all I could think about was poor Rafe.

Glory is always in some love triangle, and although I have liked a lot of books in this series sometimes they don't go far enough for me. They heat things up with the men but never take that leap over the edge. I can't say that about this book, it was hot and went far enough for me and attached appropriate emotions to every action.

Fun, fast read like all the Real Vampires books. Glory finds she still has the hots for Rafe, Ray, Jerry and few others. Now she somehow ended up being demon possessed. She blames it on that. What I really like about this book is that for half of it circumstances happened to cause Glory to loose her inhibitions about so much, which made it fun to read. She let her customers know just what she thought about what they picked. With all the men in her life she did things she normally wouldn't have. I absolutely love this series and this book didn't disappoint! Glory St. Clair is the vampire for every woman. When she was turned, it was during a time when women were known to be voluptuous instead of stick thin. She has 3 men all vying for her affections which makes for a fun series. :)

Glory's got herself in another gigantic mess and tries to get out of it, but can't avoid some casualties.

Things in her mind get a little clearer after these new adventures of hers and she manages to make some overdue decisions (concerning the men in her life and their role in it, mostly).
