What a spectacular new look into the Demonica and Lords of Deliverance series. It made me hungry for the next Lords of Deliverance book and had me wanting to re-read the entire Demonica series.

If you've never read the Demonica and Lord of Deliverance series, I'll try to quickly recap before I continue...more I will only be reviewing one of the anthologies, Vampire Fight Club. Not for lack of enthusiasm, but because I've only read Larissa Ione's series. I'm not exactly familiar with any of the worlds from the varying authors in the book, so until I do I will only review the first story :) So with that...

Welcome to the wonderful world of Demonica! ^-^ One of my favorite of the Adult PNR genre. If you've never read the Demonica and Lord of Deliverance series, I'll try to quickly recap before I continue with the characters in this book. Demonica starts off with Pleasure Unbound, where we are introduced to Eidolon and his two brothers, Shade and Wraith, sex demons also known as Seminus demons. Their world is mostly focused in Underworld General Hospital, more specifically, a demon hospital, where any species can go to get treated where they otherwise couldn't in the human realm. The brothers not only work at UGH (yes, I know, I know :P), they own Underworld General, built it themselves. In the world of Demonica, humans live alongside demons of all kinds (though they're oblivious to any of them, unless they're in the know of course) ; not only that, but there's also vampires, weres, cat shifters, and canine shifters as well.

Well, I hope you have an idea of what Demonica is now :) The reason I brought it up, is because Vampire Fight Club introduces us to Vladlena, or rather, allows us her POV in the world of Demonica. She is a nurse at Underworld General, and hyena shifter, who has difficulty shifting to animal form. Also, we are introduced for the first time to Nate, a special kind of vampire who manages the Vampire Club. He's what's called a "daywalker" because he is the only vampire, that he knows of, who can walk in the sunlight.

Now, the actual name of the club where Nate works at is called Trust. Here, vampires and humans, mingle, dance, have sex, that sort of stuff. But unbeknownst to the humans, vampires, as well as most of the staff at Trust, underground, there is an arena where fights are held, and the bloodier and deadlier, the better. Anyone dies there, their bodies get tossed to a back alley elsewhere.

Nate's character was hilarious, I lol'ed throughout his entire POV. He's cold, and ruthless, but in comes Vladlena and he verges on sarcasm and wry humor. She rekindles his love of life and heart he'd long since thought was no longer a part of him. Vladlena is a strong, determined, if a bit naive female. I thought she'd get on my nerves for being a snoop, but she had strong reasons for doing so, (view spoiler) and she had backbone, so that helped. Lol We are also reacquainted with the sem-brothers, and that's always fun :)

I enjoy reading Larissa's books. She has a way of making you feel like you're a part of that world, like her characters are real. This story was an integral part of her Lords of Deliverance series. And with Lethal Rider coming out soon, I'm sure there'll be more answers to the story behind Nate's sire. Though, by the description he gave when he'd first seen him, one can guess who it is, but not how he's able to create vampires.

For now, that's all, but I will continue to read the other stories in Supernatural, once I've learned more of the authors' worlds.(less)

Vampire Fight Club -
This one, I couldn't even finish. I cared not one whit for Nathan or Vladlena and her undercover mission to the Vampire Fight Club. This is the story that proved to me it was the Sem Brothers that made me like the Demonica books. As short as it was, it still wasn't something I wanted to take the time to read.

I like to read anthologies once in awhile to try to find new authors to read. there are always good and bad in each set, and this one was no different. I understand now that all these stories are in the middle of series, but I appreciate when an author eases you into a story with some background so the reader isn't completely lost from the beginning. I loved all of the books! I even found 2 new authors that I will be looking into as well. Loved the dragon story and can't wait to get my hands on more of G. A. Aiken's books in this series. The humanity along with the brutality combined together in the dragons was fascinating!
Jacob's story was haunting and lovely. When darkness comes was unexpected as well. I was pleasantly surprised with the lot. I knew to love Larissa's book, and I came away having enjoyed every one. What I wasn't expecting a...more

I'm sorry but I didn't like the story at all. I often have a problem with short stories because due to the small amount of pages it makes writing a convincing story very difficult. Unfortunately, Ione didn't succeed here. Full of clichés, predictable, no chemistry between the main characters...

5 Stars :I got this specifically for the Demonica Short "Vampire Fight Club" and was not disappointed. Vladlena (Lena) a nurse shifter at UG goes ubndercover to avenge her brother's death and instead finds love with the leading suspect Nate, a daywalking vampire. I loved the suspense and mystery surrounding Lena's inability to shift as well as Nate's ability to walk in daylight and their romance was perfect.

I’ve read and enjoyed books by all these authors, but my favorites are easily Larissa Ione and G.A. Aiken, and their stories in this collection are also my favorites. I feel like this is one of the stronger anthologies I’ve seen lately, as all four of the novellas are well done.

My only criticism of the collection as a whole is of the cover. When I saw the early review of Supernatural at The Fiction Vixen, I assumed that the book was either self-published or only being released in eBook form, because the cover is NOT attractive. I was stunned (but in a good way) when I saw in Target in mass market paperback. Hopefully the cover won’t turn you off, because these four authors have written engaging novellas that fit in nicely with their different series.

Larissa Ione “Vampire Fight Club” Set in the world of Ione’s Demonica and Lords of Deliverance series, this is my overwhelming favorite of the stories. Nathan Sabine is a daywalker, a vampire who can walk in the sun. He runs Gladius, a blood arena for supernaturals, and when a hyena shifter dies in the arena, Nate thinks nothing of it. Unfortunately for him, the hyena survives his trip to Underground General long enough to tell his sister Vladlena (Lena) Paskelkov the name of the vampire club Thirst, the front for Gladius. Lena goes undercover at the club to avenge her brother, but she and Nate find themselves fighting their attraction to one another. The first few pages into the novella I wasn’t sure how it fit into Ione’s series, but that was quickly resolved and the rest was smooth sailing. Ione mentions in a short note to the reader that we’ll learn more about Nate’s Daywalker state in future Lords of Deliverance books. I can’t wait!

Alexandra Ivy “Darkness Eternal” I’ve read several of Ivy’s books in the Guardians of Eternity series, but it’s been a while and I’m not caught up on the series, so this novella was at times a bit difficult to follow. However, I enjoyed the story of Kata, trapped in a dark room for over 200 years by her evil vampire sister Marika. Kata’s daughter, Laylah, has convinced the vampires that Kata must be rescued, and the vampire Uriel does just that. When Uriel finds Kata, they learn that the two will need to travel to hell to save her life. While Kata has no desire to spend time with a vampire after being imprisoned by one for centuries, her time with Uriel convinces her otherwise. This was the most convoluted of the novellas, no doubt because I’m a little out of touch with the series.

Jacquelyn Frank “Kane” This novella takes place at the same time as Frank’s first book in the Nightwalkers series, Jacob, my favorite in the series. Unlike Ivy’s novella, however, you can easily follow along without having read any of the series. Kane is a mind demon, and Jacob’s younger brother. When Kane begins to stalk a human woman, Corrine, and then uses his abilities to manipulate minds to talk to her, demon enforcer Jacob intervenes, as demons are strictly forbidden from touching humans. Unfortunately, it turns out that Corrine is part druid, and Kane’s touch has begun the imprinting process, which requires that the two remain in contact to exchange energy. Kane’s enforced absence nearly kills her, but the two are reunited in time to save her life. My only complaint about this novella is that almost the entire story takes place in bed, with the two conversing. It drags a bit, but if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll enjoy learning how Kane and Corrine met.

G.A. Aiken “Dragon on Top” Shelly Laurenston writes about dragon shifters under the pseudonym G.A. Aiken, and her books always crack me up. This novella focuses on dragon shifter Ghleanna the Decimator, sister to Bercelak the Black. As a member of the Cadwaladr clan, Ghleanna is majorly kick-ass, but she’s recently been dumped by a less than worthy dragon, and she’s been wallowing in self-pity ever since. When Ghleanna’s sister-in-law, the queen of the Fire Dragons, decides to send negotiator Bram to arrange a treaty with the Sand Dragons, she decides that Ghleanna should accompany him. Bram has had a crush on Ghleanna for centuries, but she barely notices him, and she’s not thrilled to be babysitting another royal dragon. Bram manages to win her over, though, and the two make an interesting pair. You don’t usually see a beta male in the role of the hero, but Bram is a great example of one and a real sweetheart. Ghleanna is pretty rough and tumble, and the interaction between her and her brothers is a hoot. I think you can read this story without having read any of the books in the series, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you have.(less)

It's obvious these stories in Supernatural are from the different authors' on going series. I am more familiar with the books of Jacquelyn Frank and G.A. Aiken, so I'm afraid I jumped to their stories first. My main reason for getting this book was for Jacquelyn Frank's "Kane", who is the younger brother of Enforcer Jacob, whose story was the beginning of the Nightwalkers series. In that...more I think I enjoy anthologies more when there are only 4 or 5 authors, compared to those with a dozen or more. It's obvious these stories in Supernatural are from the different authors' on going series. I am more familiar with the books of Jacquelyn Frank and G.A. Aiken, so I'm afraid I jumped to their stories first. My main reason for getting this book was for Jacquelyn Frank's "Kane", who is the younger brother of Enforcer Jacob, whose story was the beginning of the Nightwalkers series. In that story, Kane had been caught by his brother for following after a human woman that he was attracted to, and that was against Demon Law. Events that transpired in "Jacob" proved that the woman he was drawn, Corinne, is actually part Druid, a race of magical beings that complement (and many become bonded lifemates) the Demon race. . When Kane touches Corinne, and then is denied being with her, she starts to wither and die, until they are reunited and feed each other energy she needs to survive. This story shares how he was drawn to her, and what they went through when Jacob realizes who Corinne really is to Jacob, and how they can save her!

"Dragon on Top" is another fun story from G.A. Aiken, and features a matchmaking dragon queen trying to put together one of her fighting warrior Cadwalder in-laws with a royal dragon who is known as the peacemaker. Her excuse to get them together? Having Gleanna accompany Bram to the desert dragons with an alliance proposal. A few of her brothers accompany them, a pesky ex of hers proves nastier than ever, and sea dragons may be their only hope, which may not be a good thing!

Back to the beginning, Larissa Ione's "Vampire Fight Club" has medic Vladlena wanting to avenge her brother's death before she dies herself. It seems if a shapeshifter is not able to shift by a certain birthday, they die a painful death. Going undercover to work at a club with a dangerously sexy vampire in charge is a big risk, and it proves to be a risk for Nathan, who has his own agenda, as well. Lena awakens something in Nathan, and Demonic forces are building a violent wave towards the apocolypse, and the risk is even greater when they fall for each other!

"Darkness Eternal" by Alexander Ivy has a gypsy woman named Kata imprisoned by an evil vampiress for centuries, and when Uriel is sent by his vampire king to rescue her, he is surprised to see she is not a willing "maiden in distress". When she is dragged into the underworld, he grabs on to her and is dragged down with her. Yet even in the perils of hell, they awaken a desire in each other that is hard to ignore! One demon seems to be on their side, but the evil vampire that had held her captured, is now after Kata in hell as well!

All 4 of these stories were page turning fun! Some had darker stories to tell, but all had great stories that were easy to connect with the different characters!

Anthology by several really good PNR authors. I hadn't read anything by Larissa Ione (at least that I remembered) but her story got me interested in her series, so I went off looking for them. I've now started the Demonica series, and will be working my way through so that I can find out more about the characters in her story.

Vampire Fight Club - Larissa Ione 5*****
I believe this may be the first thing I have read of Larissa Ione. This starts out with Nate in a fight club that he obviously hates. Where he has just witnessed a Hyena being slaughtered. He doesn't understand why the poor sap did not just shift and protect himself.

He barely blurts out "Thirst Club" then convulses and dies. She asks where he was found. Somehow this starts an investigation into Nate's Club.
After Lena gets hired as a medic she becomes nosy. Nate becomes obsessed with her. He must have her she is the first woman that has made him feel anything in years.
Lena must convince Nate that she is just here for a job. But he doesn't buy it. And when his boss a demon wants Nate to use Lena as a sacrifice because she is a virgin be about explodes on the spot.
I will be reading this author again!

Darkness Eternal - Alexander Ivy 4****
Uriel is Victor's second in command. And what Victor say's goes. So when Victor sends Uriel on a errand he doesn't expect to end up in Kata's tomb.
Kata has been imprisoned for nearly two hundred years beneath Stonehenge. She was put their by her evil twin and a Russian mage. The join forces to plot their creepy plan by trapping a powerful Jinn with her. Expecting the Jinn to rape and impregnate her.
When she and the Jinn have a child they will be used to call forth the Dark Lord from Hell to Earth. Those plans do not quite work out as planned. (this all takes place in a previous book)
Now alone some almost two hundred years later Uriel is sent to rescue her. But they end up in Hell. This is their story. I quite enjoyed Uriel and the sacrifice he was willing to give up for his mate. Good story...

Kane - Jacquelyn Frank 3***
When Kane touched a human he literally signed her death warrant. Now a week later she is in a coma and fighting for her life. Kane is a demon and it is a hard time the Samhain moon is tonight. Corrine will die tonight if Kane is not with her. Imprinted mates must be together. So the elders do something drastic. They will somehow bond Kane so tightly to the bed and put Corrine in this same bed. Then they lock them in this room. Imagine this? I will leave the rest to your imagination.

Dragon on Top - G.A. Aiken 2**
Ghleanna is a Dragon Warrior who is bored, and thinks she is heart-broken NOT!! She is the sister of Bercelak the Queen's consort. She is sent with Bram to the Sand Dragons to sort out a truce for the queen. Bram is known as the peace maker.

I picked up this anthology because I am a fan of Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Enternity series. But I have seen the names Larissa Ione and Jacqueline Frank often as suggested reading when I purchase my e-books, so I was happy to see them grouped together since it would give me a great excuse to try these authors.

I liked three of the stories and DNFed 1.

"Vampire Fight Club". Great story and I have to admit Larissa Ione is a very good writer. I only read the first in the Demonica series, but I had no problem in following this novella and remembering the world.

"Darkness Eternal". It was a nice enough story. But even if I read two of Ivy's books, I remembered nothing of them. So missing link.

This was a solid 4 star anthology. I enjoyed every novella length story in this book.

Dragon On Top by G.A. Aiken was a great story. I loved the new Fin dragons and really enjoyed this romance. (4.5/5) stars

I only read the first two stories (Larisa Ione and Alexandra Ivy) because they were part of series that I was already reading. I liked them both but they weren't all that and more. It was nice for Alexandra Ivy to have a story where the guy didn't have an overly used pet name and and equally over used favorite curse word/phrase.

"Vampire Dance Club"..... very good novella. Liked it a lot. Had mixed feelings at the beginning, but turned out great. Another great one by Larissa Ione.

"Darkness Eternal"... Hated it. Was glad it was a Novella. Felt too fake... (I know coming from a parnormal romance lover).... I like a little fight at least between the two characters.

"Kane"..... way better than the one before. It's funny how this one took place in the same amount of time the previous one... but this one is just way better......more
