Chumley's heartfelt exploration of this tradition is rightfully called a pilgrimage, which takes him to Egypt, Rumania, Greece, and Russia. Beautiful photography documents his visits, and his storytelling relates the best spiritual wisdom he gained from monks and clerics who rarely speak to the wider world, although they pray, without ceasing, for it.

This book was a study of The Jesus Prayer which is said in the monasteries of the Byzantine Rite. It was fascinating to follow the tour as they went from Greece to Romania to Russia and other places. Some of these monasteries have been in existence since the 3rd century. They also made a movie and it too was great.
