Recommends it for: those who plans to come to Germany
It's an ideal book if you plan to travel around Germany by yourself. The 1st chapter gives you an overview of GErmany. Subsequent chapters will go into the different states in Germany. There are many detailed walking tour plans for different states in Germany. Dining places mentioned in LP are definitely worth trying.
I only read the Berlin, Munich, and Dresden-specific parts, as well as the general information and history section. Very useful in planning out my trip and figuring out how much time I needed in each area.
Would recommend to anyone traveling to Germany - or get Lonely Planet books if you're traveling anywhere! They're awesome!

Recommends it for: People going to Germany who don't have any German friends
Berlin. Berlin. I have to get back to Berlin.

And... this book is available through the woeful DC public library system.
I had a different Lonely Planet edition of Germany, and only looked at a small part of it.
Always recommend lonely planet travel books!
