This book reads like a whodunit, but almost surreptitiously it is a profoundly accurate introduction to A Course in Miracles. It accomplishes the impossible in this respect, and it has proven to be helpful both as an introduction for newcomers to the Course, as well as a refresher for long time students, not to mention it has helped many people who've become stuck in their work with the Course through an avalanche of commentaries which distort the Course, and introduce contradictions into its cr...more
Though I'm not on board with all the ideas presented here, this book does offer some beautiful thoughts.
"Under the Holy Spirit's thought system, the proper response to any situation is always love. When you think with the Holy Spirit, you're consistent in your attitude, which is love," (p.213).
"...you can experience the peace of God now" (p.254).

If you are ready for it, this book will start the process to radically change your life. There are several politically incorrect things about this book that will put some readers off however if you can look past those surface things, you'll find something you've been looking for your whole life.
Such an odd book as a whole but still had an amazing message if you can keep an open mind while reading. Don't forget everything's made of atoms which have electrons which quantum jump(which means they leave time and space and comes back in a different spot but Does Not move through space), so everything is constantly dissapearing and reappearing and our brain just EDITS it all for us. If this book was supposed to bring me peace- it didn't. I do agree that we should not identify with the ego, but we should try to lovingly watch it as our higher self and say 'even though I am not this illusion I love this illusion', thus gently detaching through acceptance, but still seeing the beauty of our journey. I have contacted my spirit guide and read many books about ascended masters. I felt that the guides, Arten and Pursah, spoke too harshly for me. They seemed to be pushing people to...more
Gary Renard's recollection of two ascended masters who appeared to him to teach him about existence through the principles of "A Course in Miracles." Regardless of whether or not you take his account as factual, this book will clear up any negative preconceptions you have with the Christian language and terms used as learning tools in "A Course in Miracles. If you've had experience with "A Course in Miracles," and couldn't get past that stigma, or if you simply could not...more
this book introduced me to A Course In Miracles that I now live by - it is a wonderful read for those following ACIM or for those interested in finding meaning to all that is
Wow wow wow, It is amazing, I have never read any spiritual book like this before. It wasn't until this book that I heard of a course in miracles. I have read alot of spirituality books and buddhist version of enlightment and all sorts but nothing rang more true for me than this book.
If anyone has no prior knowledge of a course in miracles, this is probably the best place to start. As I said before, I have never heard of ACIM, I have heard sayings that "you are a part of God and...more

This book follows perspectives based on A Course in Miracles. It is a dialogue format between Gary Renard and two straight-talking spirits intent on teaching Gary how to see life differently, how to wake up to the truth of who he is. It is spirituality taught in a human format using Gary's sometimes cocky language and two spirits' return of same humor. Above all, this book presents clear answers to questions involving life, the living, death, and reality, which invites readers to rethink their...more
This is an awesome read... but only if you're ready for it! :-)
Wonder what the infamous "Course in Miracles" is all about? What I tell people is that this is sort of the Cliff Notes version, in a very conversational tone.
Even so, I found that even though I tend to tear through books, this one I had to take in half hour doses at a time (I would read it on the elliptical), because I would often need a few days to digest some of the stuff in here... very palatable, b...more

This book is very strange and abstract. Much like the Osho book I picked it up purely because it sounded interesting to me at the time, and it was interesting. In fact, I had to put it down about half way through because it was just getting to be too much for me... too deep...
But I eventually picked it up and finished it and it really twists your mind around with regards to perception and how you look at this world and plane of being. Definitely worth looking at if you have ever wond...more

I began, when I 1st heard of this book, with a negative bias: for one thing, I dislike the pictures of Gary R. I'd seen [though this *pettiness* makes me wince].
I still detect judgments against Gary in my mind ... but boy! did I ever devour the book.
I feel safest, naturally, with the direct quotes from the course; but the Gary-dependent parts of the book helped me too.
Do I "believe in" Pursah & Arten? I honestly don't know; maybe sometimes; but of cours...more

This book was a recomendation by a dear friend. I began reading it late yesterday. The first chapter was interesting and I felt there was truth to it. As I continued reading, I marked several passages, and additional reading recommendations. However, the further I got into the book, the more I thought I was reading a script for an infomercial for ACIM. Forgiveness and love are universal messages. This may be the right teaching for some, but I prefer Tolle.
I'm so grateful that someone recommended this book to me five years ago. It's a great explanation of the basics of "A Course in Miracles," a self-study course on the reliquishment of a thought-system based on fear, and the acceptance of a thought-system based on love. I had picked up the Course several times in my life but couldn't get into it. Half way through "Dissappearance," I went out and bought the Course and have been studying it since. Gary Renard breaks down the l...more
This book brought me joy, pain, happiness, despair, insight, and anger. It has cogent explanations and descriptions about life. I was seduced by this book; I was intrigued by this book. I could only tolerate reading small portions every day, sometimes taking a day off. It's very powerful and mind-blowing. You'll never view the world the same way after reading it.
This is a GREAT book if you have any interest in the Course in Miracles. It is purist non-dualism, just as the Course in Miracles was, and not like the rash of new-agey books that are supposedly based on the Course in Miracles yet are decidedly not non-dualistic.
Summary: Neither you nor I nor the world nor the universe even exists. God did not create any of it. In fact, it is all but a dream from which awakening IS God (or Love or Happiness Itself or whatever you choose to call nons...more

A great and goofy introduction to ACIM. I laughed out loud and couldn't put it down. It found its way into my life when I most needed it, like a best friend. I didn't buy it when I first saw it at the bookstore almost five (?) years ago now, but a few months later it came automatically when I forgot to respond to my book club choice.
Nonfiction: Metaphysics. Unsuspecting Renard has two nice looking people materialize on his couch who tell him to listen up because they are going to dictate a book to him. This book. Weird, but engaging. The message: Pay attention to A Course in Miracles. The weird visitors explain the Course to make it accessible. Plus lots of interesting tidbits from the ether.
I really liked this at first, then I got really depressed because it made me feel like life is pointless. By the end, it bothered me a lot, and I decided that he is a fraud. His message about forgiveness is good, but it's a little wacko at the end. Read it as a "fiction" book, and you'll be fine.
the central premise this book stands on is channeling. while i don't believe in literal channeling of specific individuals (we are all channelers in some sense), i suspended my skepticism in order to receive the lessons-of which there were many. i found the author's irreverent tone and self-aggrandizement somewhat annoying at times. also, he had "too convenient" excuses for his inability to provide proof of his "visitations." contrarily, this book opened the door to my cur...more
This is a great way to open the door to studying "The Course in Miracles". Gary gives it to the reader in layman's terms so you can begin to understand "The Big Blue Book". This course of study is for anyone who is looking for a spiritual belief system with the foundation of unconditional love.
Although Gary's writing style or sense of humor is not my favorite, this book definitely got me thinking! Most of what he said rang true on a spiritual level. Almost every other metaphysical book I've read and love has the same information that he has in this one book! I loved it!
Very interesting; a different perspective that I appreciate on some biblical stories. I struggled with the theme that wove heavily throughout the book i.e., A Course In Miracles. I have no interest in ACIM. But, I loved the bottom line message, forgiveness.
This book rocked my world!
I am forever changed. I have become a more serious student of A Course In Miracles since reading it. I have found more peace and compassion and patience because of this book.
ANd by the way, I took me 2 years to complete!! No lie!!1

i have to take this bit by bit, it's very highly spoken and the thoughts presented take a bit of thinking about, so i'm taking my time and mulling as i go :-)
i will probably read it 3 or 4 times before i fully grasp all the ideas ...very good book .

Excellent book. Exactly what I've been searching for my entire life! If you liked Conversations with God trilogy, Power of Now, a New Earth, you'll love this.
Awesome and life-changing ~ question everything and let ego control nothing. Ego is not real anyhow..
I have completely read through this twice. And will begin it again sometime, as it greatly helps in digesting A Course In Miracles ~

Recommends it for:
anyone looking to get their mind blown
Best mind blower about the nature of the universe. If you don't get lost in Gary's personality or hung up on whether it is "true" or not, it packs a consciousness-shattering punch and opens up huge worlds of truth and liberation.
I can't provide a star rating because I couldn't finish this book because it freaked me out too much. It takes the worldview I am used to and turns it inside out. I may try again later, because it had some very interesting ideas.
This book was my introduction to A Course in Miracles. For me, it was a mini Course in Miracles for Dummies. I got a lot out of this book. I have since read Gary Renard's second book and have been to 3 of his conferences.
