Wow. I am ashamed to have this book in my update. Let me just say that I tried to sign up for badreads.com to appropriately describe Blood Red by Heather Graham, but they rejected my review due to sexual content and language.

To sum up, main character Lauren Crow (again with the auburn hair, ugh) and her two imaginatively-named friends Deanna and Heidi go to New Orleans for a bachelorette party weekend. They run into Mark Davidson who [SPOILER ALERT] predictably turns out to be a vampire and [/SP

My Mom dropped off Blood Red by Heather Graham and it is exactly what I would pick up for myself. Three friends are in New Orleans for a bachelorette weekend and they become involved in Vampire intrigue. A Vampire decides they are his prey and pursuits them almost succeeding in killing them but a vampire hunter (who I imagine as looking like Danny Pino) saves them. At first the women don't believe his stories of vampires but then they see the evidence with their own eyes.

I thought I'd give Heather Graham another chance but again was disappointed. I couldn't finish Blood Red. The story is uncompelling, the characters bland and the dialogue awful. Some authors just shouldn't attempt paranormal romance.

I didn't think this was part of a series, but now I'm not quite sure what to put it under. Some of the characters are recurring, especially from the novels that Graham wrote as Shannon Drake.

Nevertheless, this was another awesome book! Terrific cast of characters! I could understand Lauren's predicament. Going to a city you and your best friends adore, just to become scared out of your mind and be told that vampires really do exist. Yeah, I think I'd have reacted the same way. 'Reality' gave her

Blood Red is not your typical romance/thriller. It wasn't what I'd normally pick up, but I really enjoyed it. Three women are in New Orleans for a wild batchelorette weekend and find themselves the target of a vampire. The Vampire chases them and almost succeeds in killing them all, except for a tall, dark and handsome vampire chaser. At first the women don't believe his tales of vampires-until they see the evidence with their own eyes. What follows is a battle between good and evil where everyo ...more

This book starts out good. You have a spooky prelude and first chapter start, then you go in to reading about three women having a bachelorette party in the New Orleans, they go to see a voodoo queen or a fortune teller, they get spooked there and the teller tells them to leave town, but you know predictable they stay. I kept reading for a while and got to board with the storyline, it was way to predictable and just didn’t have enough boost to keep me interested. Plus the vampires was not like I ...more

BLOOD RED was my first Heather Graham book and have to confess that I only picked it up because I needed a book set in New Orleans for a reading challenge. Then when I saw the story contained romance, mystery and vampires how could I refuse! Lauren is pretty a smart heroine which is just as well because her two friends get themselves glamoured by vampires very quickly and not only does she have to protect herself but look out for them as well while trying not to tell them there are vampires runn ...more

I actucally really enjoyed this one. Thought at times, i really wanted to hit Lauren in the head at the beginning for her being so stupid, then again you never know what going to happen. and Heidi....stupid blonde. I wonder if her and her fiance decide to get married or not.

While I do enjoy Heather Grahams vampire novels, I do not enjoy them as much as her paranormal novels. The writing is still good but the plot just never pulls me in the same way that her other novels do. However, I do still enjoy reading them. Blood Red is another fast paced novel that has some good characters and a solid plot that is well written. The trio of girls, including Lauren, the main character in this book are written in such a way that it was hard to connect with them, at least for me ...more

Three friends head to New Orleans to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of one. After visiting a fortune teller, more and more weird things start happening to these women with them being pulled into the center of a dangerous plot by a serial killer. Involves vampires seeking revenge for events which took place around 150 years ago.

All I can say is this was "meh". Not terrible but evoked no emotion from me whatsoever--no fear, no angst, no chemistry, nothing. The story didn't pull me in. I wasn't dr

Always on the look out for one specific vampire, Mark Davidson came to New Orleans, he was not expecting to see a face from his past in the women he met new. Soon to be bride, Heidi Weiss with her friends Lauren Crow and Deanna Marin arrived in New Orleans for a long anticipated bachelorette weekend. Having grown up in the area, Lauren got the job of tour guide to her friends, including going to see a psychic (she picked Susan Beauvais). The image she had seen in the crystal ball scared both Lau ...more

I liked this one mostly because of the relationship between the girls. The start of the book was their girls weekend out, one last hurrah before one of them gets married. Heidi, the bride, wants them all to get their fortune told so they stop by someone and each one of them gets it told by a different way, tarrot cards, palm reading, and crystal ball. It is in the crystal ball that starts all the trouble for them. While looking into the ball Lauren sees a man and somehow he sees her to. Later th ...more

INQUIETANTE!

What a great trip back to New Orleans. Now that I've read this one, I sort of want to re-read the previous books.

I loved Sean/Maggie's book, and it was great to see them back in action. I remember Bobby, but I'm having trouble remembering Stacey and the others.

Mark & Lauren make a great couple, once they clear the necessary hurdles. I really liked Deanna & Heidi too.

So I was excited to read another vampire book since I finished the Stephanie Meyer books last month. This book was actually pretty entertaining although I liked eclipse tons more. It was a really easy read and it reminded me of Buffy the Vampire series. Basically, three girlfriends go to New Orleans for a girls bachelorette weekend. They go to a fortune teller for fun and end up getting some strange readings. The fortune teller tells them to leave town but they laugh it off as a rouse. One if th ...more

Love, Love Heather Graham. Blood Red was an awesome read, super sexy, fast-paced and lots of plot twits. I love the characters and location (New Orleans) and the fact that it was a vampire novel just won me over. I can't wait to read more from Heather she just knows how to grab your attention and her books are absolutely page-turners.

I rate this book 4.5 stars!!

Another miss for me.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar

I like Heather Grahams books because of the Irish flavor she adds to her stories. I didn't realize this one was in the vampire series but I like a good vampire story from time to time!
Good story. Keeps you guessing and reading!
If you like this genre, it's a good book!

I was surprised by the negative reviews of this book. I don't read vampire books generally, I just don't care for them but I started to read this and I liked it, vampires and all. I review books by whether they entertained me or not and this one did.
Cara
A friend recommended this book because it was her favorite. Wow do we have different taste in books. The story was predictable and boring and basically just a trashy romance novel. I didn't realize this when I started. I should've politely skipped this one.

Tolles Buch !

I really wanted to like this book. I had a hard time sticking with it, but I did finish it. I just didn't care for Lauren's character. This will in no way keep me from reading other books by Heather Graham. I do enjoy her stuff.

Funny thing I kept remember what was going to happen before I read it, then realized I had already read it ughhh oh well, it was worth a second read....

Good vampire book, set in New Orleans. Did get a little frustrated with the heroine when she would go off on her own even when she knew vampires were after her. Lots of supporting characters, both human and vampire. And of course, you have both the good and bad vampires. Love the use of the Water Pistol with Holy Water as a weapon. And the vampires don't just go "poof" when you kill them, they decompose depending on how long they have been a vampire, which to me seems more logical than all vampi ...more

This was a different type of vampire book. It came across as more of a contemporary suspense than a paranormal novel. Heather Graham is good at writing romantic suspense and that is what she stuck to while throwing in a few paranormal elements into the story. In doing this Ms. Graham not only gives her core readers what they look for in her books but alos gives her an opportunity to grab the attention of readers who like paranormal romance. There were a few surprises in the story that I didn't s ...more

I love Heather Graham's books. They are fun and relaxing. They contain enough paranormal to keep me interested.

Without a doubt in my mind this is one of the best books I have ever read,Heather Graham didnt screw up the Vampire Legends even though she did add a little Imagination into the Mix.I'm happy to have had the pleasure of reading this Book. And I was sad to see it end.But it was not too short and it entertained me and kept me at the edge of my seat at times. Not to mention the twist she adds near the end when the final battle happens that caught even me by surprise.Although I did have my suspicions ...more
