This is definitely not a book to read before reading Shadowland or Shadowland: Daredevil, but for a reader interested in spending a little more time with some of the characters from the main story, these tie-in issues are perfectly fine. The collection starts with a Bullseye one-shot that actually has a terrific opening scene before devolving into a pretty standard crime story (which is aided by Bullseye's commentary but then scuttled by a foolish revelation in the last two pages).

Bullseye story: utter crap. Elektra: superfluous and unimaginative. Ghost Rider story was good but still didn't make any difference to my enjoyment of Shadowland - unimportant filler. Spider-man and Shang-Chi had great art - first-rate action - but like all one-shots, the conflict wraps up too neatly and quickly to have any lasting impact.

Daughters of the Shadow: starts out almost gritty, then descends into maudlin silly emotive backtracking, and leads into an interesting premise (The Nail). Th...more
This is the "odds and ends" collection of the Shadowland crossover. It collects 4 special one shots that tied into the event and a three-issue miniseries.

Bullseye: Dead on a Rival (John Layman & Sean Chen) is completely stupid, just a shining axample of a bad comic. Nothing to see here. *

Shadowland: Elektra (Zeb Wells & Emma Rios) was an interesting experiment. In the middle of a bloody battle, Elektra constantly "zones out" to receive spiritual messageas from Master Izo, I loved the ar...more
There were a couple cool stories in here, the Ghost Rider and Bullseye stories for instance. But, not having read the main Shadowland story in Daredevil it seemed kind of random with only a little backstory for me to follow. This came out during a time I wasn't getting comics so if I had read the Shadowland story itself it would have been a little more enjoyable.

Oh wait, is the book over? Yep, that's what you missed. The Elektra issue was good.

I've been writing comics for a long time, and games, and-- well, I write, so there's always *something.* But now I've gotten into modern-day YA novels with the Alex Van Helsing series.
