3.5 stars. I’m not much a “Blaze” reader, but this one was pretty much like a Harlequin Presents with a whole lot more sex; the sophisticated, sexually aggressive heroine is even a virgin. Ah, good old Harlequin.
Seven years previously, a young, lonely, Jessie quickly married a stranger, to help him with a business deal. She was powerfully attracted to Joshua, but he didn’t even learn her real name and never saw her again. Now Jessie wants a baby and she wants it born in wedlock. So she sets out...more

As much as I love romance, I almost never read these types of Harlequin series romance books, because I usually find them too sappy, over the top, and dare I admit... poorly written for my tastes. But after hearing some good things about this one and noticing that it had a somewhat normal title, (as opposed to those "The Greek Billionaire Prince and his Virgin Secretary Mistress" type names) I decided to give it a try. And what do you know, I was pleasantly suprised! Not to say that I didn't hav...more

I "discovered" it on Colleen's favorites list here!
WHEW! Colleen sure knows her steamy books! This was the first I've read by Cherry Adair and you can be sure I'll be getting more. You just have to love the leading lady, and though the hero seems to be pretty unredeemable in the beginning, he thaws enough to make you start to care pretty soon. The intimate scenes ... very well written and the chemistry was palpable. The only think that kept it from being worth 5 stars (to me) was, I would have LOVED some more time after the climactic HEA moment...more

Premise : hero Joshua Falcon has to marry by midnight in order to gain control of the family business. He's fairly desperate and proposes to a waitress at a dinner called Jessie. She is wearing an I'd card from the last person who wore the uniform whose name is Vera and he does not appear to pay sufficient attention at the wedding ceremony to note her real name. He then goes off on his merry way, making financial provision for 'vera'.

This was a 3.5 star book. Considering the conditions, it had lots of potential.
A marriage of convenience between the H/h, a 7 year separation, a heroine who wants a legitimate baby, a case of [purposely] mistaken identity, a drawn out seduction and non-consummating lust, followed by absolutely ridiculously hot love scenes, a cold-hearted hero warming up,some angst and finally a HEA.
It fails in only one way - flow. I've heard great things about Ms. Adair, but this is my first book by her, so thi...more

This book is the first Blaze title I've read, but not the first one I've bought. It was very interesting and it was intense and I liked that the language wasn't as flowery as the majority of the romance books I read. But what bothered me was (view spoiler)...more
I was slow getting into it. The story was kind of predictable. But it was good. At times I felt for Joshua and the pain he endured, the lack of love in his life, the betrayals women dealt on him, and the way he loved Jessie without even knowing so himself.
Jessie deceived him, but she did nothing less than collecting what belonged to her. At first I couldn't understand why she wasn't upfront with him, but then they wouldn't have gotten to know each other the way they did, and fall in love the way...more

Only in Harlequin´s World. =)
Seven years ago Joshua and Jessie married to save his share in his company, now she wants to collect on his promise to be there for her when she ever wanted/needed anything. The thing is, she wants a baby, and when they meet again for the first time in years, he doesn´t know that she is his wife. All he knows is that he wants her for a mistress. 3,5 Stars

Almost 4 stars. It was pretty decent, and I was emotionally invested in the characters. I agree with another reviewer who said this was HP-like even though under the Blaze title. Mostly I felt like it was a little too long and I wasn't sure what the point of all the scenes were. But still a decent read.
I have this paperback on hold because I'm still reading Tempted...but seriously considering this afterwards...

The hero was an ass who didn't redeem himself at all in my eyes, the heroine got on my nerves, and the story was lacking in substance and flow. Not the best by this author.
This was a great novel. The girl get the good guy and he makes everything right. Not to much sex and the sex scenes were mostly clean.
I remember reading this book several years ago, and it was good then and good now.
Really enjoyed this HQN Blaze story.
Admired the heroine and her taming of 'The Glacier'.
