The opening scene had me laughing nonstop. It was reminiscent of a Jory type of thing from A Matter of Time, although Caesar is nothing like Jory. It was just one of those comical, I'm in the middle of this and doing something ridiculous and it keeps getting worse but it's really not my fault but everyone's upset so please rescue me kind of thing.

This one was way better than the first one. The premise is as zany and the humour is as madcap as before. Even better, I could actually see Ceasar and Dan as a couple and their romance was both credible and hot, something which the first book failed to pull off. Although I wish that the snark had been a little dialled down, it had some real laugh out loud moments.

There is no other way for me to describe what I loved about this book other than...It completely charmed me.

I loved the first one, but I think this one was even better for me. This book starts six weeks after the first book. Ce and Dan have been seeing each other and things are getting serious...Dan is pretty open about how much he wants to be with Ceasar.

It's loopy and funny AND I LOVE HIS FAMILY...Teeno and Veeto! Most of all I love Dan and Ce. I don't know how they manage to be totally kinky...more

I loved this installment as much as the first. It is just about non-stop action from beginning to end with funny one liners and hot sex in more strange places. Dan and Ce continue to sizzle. They make such a great couple and even though they rarely manage to make it to a bed, their sex is super hot. Come to think of it, they rarely even have full blown sex, and it never feels like it is missing from the story.

Other reviewers have expressed perfectly what’s to love about this series, I defer to them.

Not as focussed to start with somehow as Catch Me If You Can but a rollicking good time was had by all (well, me) once it took off. For some reason I objected to the first scene, but I got over myself, thankfully. There were a couple of threads I would have loved to have seen tied up differently at the end (for my own selfish satisfaction)*, but small gripes, I can't wait for more!

This is the second book in the Romano and Albright series and also the second book of LB Gregg’s I’ve read. I really like her writing style and think I appreciate it even more after reading the second book in the series. Trust Me If You Dare reads like a comic romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously. There’s not much to the story actually, outside of the accidents, coincidences, public groping, and emotional denial but that’s ok since the story is just so much fun to read.

I really like her writing style and think I appreciate it even more after reading the second book in the series. Trust Me If You Dare reads like a comic romp that doesn’t take itself too seriously. There’s not much to the story actually, outside of the accidents, coincidences, public groping, and emotional denial but that’s ok since the story is just so much fun to read.

Trust Me starts where the previous book left off. So much so that I went back and skimmed the last few chapters to get a feel for what had happened. You can read this book on its own but I wouldn’t suggest it. Caesar Romano is happily ensconced in a relationship with one Dan Albright, Private Investigator. The accident prone Caesar starts the book off with a bang as he gets into two accidents immediately. Caesar manages to damage a BMW while waiting for Dan at a nearby dealership, which starts a sequence of unfortunate events unbeknownst to Caesar. Now his life is about to get busy, complicated, sexy, and painful as the Caesar navigates an increasingly dangerous world where random things just happen to him. It’s not his fault, really.

If you’ve read the previous book or others of Gregg, her style of comic romance is really quite deft. There is humor in every situation and while it’s quite over the top, it manages to be subtle enough to appreciate. The light, easy feel to the story drifts from one incident to the next without overwhelming the reader or making Caesar out to be a Darwin award winner. Instead he’s an inherently likable, sympathetic, and entertaining character with a propensity for stuttering while lying and accidental mishaps. Caesar’s large, near mob like family adds a good contrast to Caesar’s antics and more entertainment without being too cliché or obvious.

This is perhaps the real charm of the story and writing in that the over the top, nearly ridiculous antics combine with a flimsy plot that makes little to no sense to give a story that may not be deep but entertains from beginning to end. There isn’t heavy angst and the characterization is peripheral at best with more unanswered questions than answers, yet the entire cast is engaging and warm, with charm simply radiating around them. The plot surrounding Dan’s job with Gunter is pretty weak with many holes, however I couldn’t quite bring myself to care since I enjoyed watching Caesar get into trouble and figure his way out almost despite himself.

The romance between Caesar and Dan feels fresh as well. They are heavily into public sex and almost all the sex scenes, which are really very tame, occur in semi public places. There’s just some delicious frottage and groping, the occasional blow job thrown in that shows two people can manage to get their kicks in while attempting to work. I’d still like more development to Dan, who feels mysterious at best, and the progression of their relationship is taken for granted rather than shown. They’re simply together and in love yet their dynamic is interesting and could be shown much more than told.

Overall this is a delightful sequel in a good series. It may not be angst ridden and filled with deep meaning, but it’s a frothy pleasure you won’t want to miss.

I’ve never really given much thought to the importance of the opening sequence of a book and how well—or sometimes negatively—that can influence my opinion of the rest of the story. I try not to judge a book by its beginning any more than I judge it by its cover because really you just never know what surprises might be lurking on the next page. I never thought about it much, that is, until L.B. Gregg made me do it, with her mad-evil-genius-storytelling ways—now it’s sort of all I think about when I think of Trust Me If You Dare.

Dan Green Albright and Caesar Romano are six weeks into their relationship. Of that time together, five weeks, six days, twenty-three hours and fifty-nine minutes have seen Ce’s life to go from zero to trouble—the first minute they met didn’t really account for much because Ce didn’t realize he was in trouble yet. Caesar was the self-professed most boring gay man in all of Manhattan up to that point, after all, but then a certain private investigator came steamrolling into his life and turned Ce into a dirty-talk-loving, public-sex-having trouble magnet. Now his life is anything but mundane.

Ce’s working in the catering biz with his preggers BFF Poppy, and their next gig is one Caesar’d just as soon avoid because it once again puts him in too close proximity to his ex-closeted, ex-lover Shep McNamara, and by virtue of association, with soap opera star Gunter Heidelbach, who’s keeping more secrets and telling more lies, the variety of which Ce really, really hates but can’t seem to avoid these days. Turns out the catering job Ce’s arranging puts Dan on security detail, as well, and in rather close proximity to Gunter, who may or may not be the biggest player ever, and who may or may not have a threatening stalker-psycho ex-assistant who’d like to out Gunter, but not in the way you might expect.

Homicidal high performance vehicles, the bottom feeding media, a gimpy fingered stranger, and a red haired pixie woman with a grudge and a gift for flying under everyone’s radar but Cearsar’s are just a few of the things that put the capital T in Trouble for him in this installment of the Romano & Albright series. Of course, the usual cast of characters is also along on this stellar ride and shines every bit as brightly as they did the first time around, with their witty banter and shady ways.

I am so loving this relationship that’s just beginning to get its sea legs, am loving the building trust and the growing realization by both men that this is a long haul proposition. I’m also loving this May/December romance that’s not a significant part of their story. I love that L.B. Gregg has made the twelve year age difference between Dan and Caesar a complete non-issue even though I know it’s there. I love that the forty-year-old Dan is so confident in who he is that he doesn’t give a second thought as to whether he’s everything Ce could possibly need.

This series has become an instant favorite for me and if I could, I’d beg L.B. Gregg to write faster. I'm so looking forward to seeing what hijinks and mayhem and mystery she has in store for me next.

Trust Me If You Dare is the second book in the Romano and Albright series (first book: Catch Me If You Can) and I so hope there's going to be another one at some point!! You really have to read the first story first, but you won't regret it! Both stories are funny, crazy, a bit on the silly side, and they'll definitely make you laugh.

I’d greatly enjoyed the first book in the Romano and Albright series, Catch Me if You Can, and was looking forward to book two. Fortunately everything that I’d loved about that first book was present in this book too.

The story opens with a side-splitting beginning. Caesar Romano is waiting for his PI lover, Dan Albright, to conduct some business at a car sales lot when he gets persuaded to test drive a new BMW. Chaos ensues, leaving Caesar with an airbag injury and a supposed enemy in the car mechanic whose fingers Caesar appears to have accidentally broken. This opening was so funny I was literally wheezing with laughter, much to my husband’s bemusement as he was trying to sleep in the bed next to me.

Once Caesar extricates himself from the car lot then it’s business as usual as he attempts to fit his job around constantly getting himself accidentally embroiled with Dan’s investigations. Like the previous book, Caesar’s ex-lover Shep is on the scene, and Caesar is also helped by his business partner, Poppy. The secondary characters are just as important as Caesar and Dan and provide a delightful colour to the story. Whether it’s the hormonal Poppy, the almost embarrassingly cliched Italian uncles and the rest of Caesar’s family, or the camp German soap star, Gunter, who seems to spend most of the book flirting with Dan and Caesar, all the secondary characters flit in and out of the story, causing conflict or helping with Caesar’s problems and adding to the frantic pacing of the book. This was so deftly handled that I never lost sight of who was who, and so instead just hung on for the ride as the pacing compelled me through the story.

As well as the mystery plot, which involves Dan trying to find Gunter’s former PA, the book also focuses on the developing relationship between Dan and Caesar. It’s been a few weeks since the end of the last book and they are starting to move into making a more formal commitment of meeting family and setting ground rules. They are also at the point where they still prefer sex over talking things over and their amusing developing love for almost public sex often derails any chance to talk through their problems. At times I found this a little frustrating, especially when misunderstandings occurred because of lack of communication and Caesar jumping to conclusions, but other than that I thought this was an accurate portrayal of two horny guys who are tentatively making moves towards love and commitment. Well, as much as they can when they get little or no time alone to do that.

As I said earlier, the pacing of this book is swift and there’s a lot fitted into the plot. The mystery itself has several threads that we follow involving different characters, and weaves itself around Caesar and Dan with the occasional cross-over. I was never sure how the mystery was going to be resolved until the final pages when everything was expertly wrapped up. Add to this all the characters and their various back-stories then the story could have become very crowded indeed. Fortunately everything was handled with such a light, breezy tone that it worked and I never felt overly bogged down. It also helps that Caesar, our first person narrator, is such a sympathetic and likeable chap. The mix of Italian blood and a rather camp but fiery personality is endearing and complements Dan’s calmer and more measured ways.

Overall, Trust Me if You Dare is a well written and very humourous story. It’s strong on character and setting (New York in June is almost a character unto itself, as is the Zippos store); strong of pacing and plot. In other words a delight to read and I would highly recommend it.(less)

They’re baaaaaaaaaack. I thought the warning blurb said it best in capturing what Trust Me If You Dare was all about. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be massively “in hearts (my mother’s term)” with this sequel… usually the first in the series tends to be my fav – I should have known better! Shame on me.

Like with #1, I still thought it took a little time to get going (or I just might be REALLY impatient) but once things get going, they get going, and you're rushed along with Caesar as he suddenly finds out that his weekend plans to visit Dan's parents (a trip he's admittedly nervous about) have to be pushed back because his ex, the famous no-longer-closeted actor Shep, needs Posh Nosh to cater an evening event. What can be more fun than catering for your ex's whims, but finding your current boyfriend there as hired security, along with a hot German soap star making eyes (and passes) at everyone, and nosy pony-tailed paparazzi suddenly way too interested in Caesar's past relationship with Shep. Couple with that a thuggish stalker, a missing PA, a quest for a tuxedo from this decade, and multiple car accidents, and you have a frantic but very fun mystery, with lots of romantic side-trips thanks to Dan, who always seems to be (thankfully) close behind Caesar's spazzy heels.

I totally love the way Caesar and Dan bounce off each other, how Caesar is continually surprised how much Dan has his number, and how very slowly he figures out how much our scarred Detective cares about him. Like Caesar, I also appreciate Dan's calm assuredness throughout, a cover that was only broken a few times when things started to look a little too dire for our hero. I'd love to see more Albright back-story in future installments.

A very fun m/m comedic mystery romance, and I'd buy Romano and Albright #3 in a New York minute. (Here's hoping for a #3!)

Trust Me If You Dare, book two in L.B. Gregg’s Romano and Albright series and continues the story of the very enjoyable Caesar and Dan. Caesar also finds himself being followed, and it all starts to interconnect with Gunter, Shep and Dan.

L.B. Gregg does a nice job with the mystery in this one. Just enough hints and twists to keep it fresh throughout the book. Her mysteries take on a bit of a quirky tone – she mixes a serious stalker situation with laughs. It’s a cute take on a romantic suspense.

She also writes the most vibrant, unique characters. They are all a little over the top – but because of that they will make you laugh out loud at their antics. Although written in Caesar’s point of view, I love how each character stands out and has time in the books to let the reader really get to know them.

And of course we must talk about the dirty romance in this book. Caesar and Dan have been dating for six weeks, and are still going strong. Caesar is such a spaz, and the way Dan reacts to him – the looks and his retorts crack me up. Dan is much more the cool character, with those deep dimples and intense heat about him. One of my favorite things about this couple is Caesar can act all spazzy, and Dan can act all like a cop – but when the passion flares between them, it is so heated. Caesar can’t help but to admit to Dan all the naughty things he wants done, almost embarrassed by it – and Dan kind of pushes the boundaries with him, and Caesar eats it up. I would love to have more scenes with Dan and Caesar when they are not trying to solve a mystery. While I completely buy into their feelings for each other, and loved the direction their relationship takes in this book, I feel like we miss out on their “hanging out” time. Just a glimpse into their more mundane moments when crazy people are not chasing them would be nice.

I strongly urge you to read book one first, where you meet this wonderful cast of characters. L.B Gregg covers all the bases with this book – great mystery, lots of laugh, and a very sexy romance. I am really looking forward to book three.

L.B. Gregg is funny!
It was a while since I read the first book of this series and I had forgot how much I liked Caesar and his ability to get himself into trouble.

In this book we get to meet a lot of the characters from the first book and also some new ones, all equally crazy.

I really like Dan and Ce as a couple and they are hot together (although they never really seem to make it home and to a bed to have sex. Lucky for them they don´t mind doing it whenever and wherever they have a chance). I...more

These guys are so funny! I hope the author will write another sequel, because I like the humor, how light and hot these stories are. I must repeat everything I said for the first book. Caesar always finds himself in the thick of things and Dan is always there to get him out of trouble. They're the perfect investigation team, and I'd advise Caesar to quit his job and be Dan's partner. I don't know how much work they could get done, because Dan is turned on by Caesar in two seconds flat.

Finished book one and immediately downloaded this one, which I read with the same delight. I wrote to the author who happily assured me that there are more Romano and Albright mysteries in the pipeline, which made me happy. Have I said before that I love these guys? Well, it's true. Ce and Dan are now on my list as one of my favorite couples. I loved this book even more than the 1st. It has the same fast pacing and all my favorite characters are back. It is hilarious, hot, and very much romantic. And since Ce and Dan never make it to a bed for sex, the love scenes are highly unpredictable and super smexy. The ending was so damn sweet. I love these guys!! Did I say that already?

It's been so long since I read the first Albright & Romano book, that I didn't remember much about it, but I was pulled so quickly into this one that it didn't really matter. Gregg does a great job of immediately immersing you in the characters and their world and the entire story's a light, fun romp that makes the time spent reading it pass in a flash.

I'm supposed to be on a book-buying ban (execpt on Tuesday when I'll buy the new Toni Blake book). But I read Catch me if you can and just could not stop myself from downloading this one and then reading it in one day! Dan and Ceasar might be my new favorite romance couple!

This is a great book and a great follow up on the first book. It's fun, it's silly, it's hot and it's just an all around great read!

I really hope this author writes more in the future about Dan and Ceasar.

The setup for the storyline was great but did in the end disaapoint me.
I came to like Dan pretty much and while I thought Ceasar was a great character my opinion on him changed during this books. I think his issues were too much exaggerated in this installation - especially his mistrust of Dan who proved himself several times during the story to Ce. In the end of this book I was convinced, that their relationship can not last - due to Ce.

I just completed a reread of this, and I find that I liked it better this time around than the first time. Either reading all these mm books has finally melted my brain, or I'm just in a more relaxed mood this time.

Trust Me If You Dare lived up to my every expectation. It was such a pleasure to revisit these great characters created by L.B. Gregg. Sexy detective Dan Albright and his hilarious, and very spontaneous lover, Caesar Romano lead us on another madcap crime fighting adventure filled with laughs, hot sex, and the kookiest criminals in the world. I'm hoping there will be a third in this series. Highly recommended.

A very good 2nd book, with much more lovely Caesar and Dan goodness. Made me laugh out loud a few times and at the moment I so needed some light relief! Not a stand alone, I think to get a handle on Caesar and Dan you definitely need to have read the 1st book, which has plenty of scene setting. But, this one is more fluid, focused, funny and very clever. Liked it!

It's not often that I love the second book as much as the first, but this one was so easy to love. Caesar and Dan are a great couple. I want my own Detective Dan is such a major way!!! This pairing has such great chemistry and you feel like you know them as you're reading the story.

All I can say really is PLEASE L.B. MORE MORE MORE!!!

This book was so funny that I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. I laughed out loud more than I have with any other book, ever! And I am not usually a person who laughs out loud. The author's sense of humor and writing style are outstanding.
