I think the amount of enjoyment I drew from this book was affected by my disappointment in the the simplicity of the dialogue and naivety of the main character. For example, Blake (a police officer and Claire's love interest) casually states: "The best thing to do is call 911 if you see someone destroying property. Street gangs tend to be violent and may carry weapons." It's obvious and dry statements such as this that caused me to dis
I finished this book because it was a fluffy, easy read and sometimes I feel like reading drivel just for the snark material. There were so many things wrong with Delivered with Love that I'm not sure where to start. Instead of going into a rant, I'll just make a list of the flaws.

1. Stupid, naive main character.
2. Too many coincidences. Everyone she met (we're talking strangers) were somehow connected and of course... all Christians.
3. A cheesy romance. I tried to like it, but... ugh.
4. Preachy

Description: Jobless and newly homeless, Claire takes off in pursuit of her mother’s mysterious past. Arriving in the town from which her mother was sent a letter signed by the unknown “M,” Claire reconnects with an old neighbor, rents a house from someone who might have written the letter, and falls for her hunky neighbor who cooks for her (who wouldn’t?)

This is a really good book! I won it on Margaret Daley blog! The characters are well written and really down to earth......You feel as if you are there with them!! It is a story of forgiveness of oneself and others. It is also one of second chances. It also tells us when we give our WHOLE lives to CHRIST, everything else falls into place. Also it teaches us not to hold grudges because they hurt us in the long run. It is just an overall good book!!!! I hope she makes it into a series because I wou ...more
Plot: I wasn't pulled in right away, but once I got deeper into the book I fell in love with the story and the romantic events that happened throughout. I love romances and this one did not let me down.

Characters: I loved how chivalrous the man was and that he truly cared about her feelings and her fears of commitment. I could also relate to Claire, so it was an overall great read. Another good part was the connections between the characters! So much fun finding out all of theirs past secrets.

Well, not at all the fun time I was expecting. Although a good premise, a nice cover and a good enough first couple of pages, it lacks depth. I was not expecting the book to be profound, but at least something a bit more mature in style and dialogue. The female lead is cute, the male lead is ok, but the play in coincidences is too much and too unrealistic, even for a work of fiction. The main characters fall flat, and most of the secondary characters are too good to be true.
But aside from the im
I found the amount of coincidences in this book to be less "God will provide" and more "the mob is setting you up." Every person the main character ran into welcomed her with Christian open arms and made her life easier. A few of them really didn't add much to the plot and could have been cut out, making the book a little more believable. Being surrounded with the Providence of God, such as it was, was too much to swallow.

I loved the setting, I had never heard of Capitola before and now I want to move there someday when I am older. I loved the storyline, it was so creative and unlike anything I have ever read before. I loved reading about Michael, his family, and his mother. I loved all the unique side characters,ESPECIALLY Harry and Pearl(they were my favorite). Sadly, what I didn't like was the main character, Claire. I hate to say this but, she did annoy me a little. I found her to be a little to trusting of s ...more

I tried to finish this but it is so desperately unrealistic that it was impossible for me to finish. From the time Claire James leaves town on her quest every person she meets seems to be a Christian she can trust. I was interested in the premise of the novel but I just can't force myself to suspend all belief to finish this one.
This was a cute book! I Loved it! I would Def recomend it to young readers, 18-25 or so. I am 30 though, and still enjoyed it!

A thirty-five-year-old love letter is about to change her life forever.

Claire James is ready for change. Her mother has died, she’s just been fired from her waitressing job, and her brother-in-law kicked her out because she could no longer pay for his drinking habit. When Claire inherits her mom’s 1972 Volkswagen Beatle, she finds a love letter addressed to her

Claire James has had a rough few years. She took care of her mother, Emily, while she was dying of cancer and now Claire is 22, with no real place in the world. She's working a blah waitressing job and living with her older sister and brother-in-law, who is an alcoholic and steals all her money. After getting fired and then kicked out of the house, Claire makes a decision that will change her life. On the day of her mother's funeral a year ago, Claire found an old love letter in the glove box of ...more

An old love letter found in her recently departed mother's vintage '72 VW bug inspires Claire James on a journey to search out the writer of the letter. It was very easy to leave her current life in Los Angeles because her sister and husband kicked her out, she lost her job and had nowhere else to be. After a series of frustrating events, she finds herself in Capitola, CA and in the middle of even more mystery into her mother's past life. Trying to find one man leads to the discovery of even mor ...more

My opinion: We first meet Claire, a 23 year old who just lost her mom after a long battle with cancer. She has an older sister, Haley, who is married. When their mom became sick all of the responsibilities of caring for her fell on Claire. Now she has no idea what to do. That is until she finds a letter in the glove compartment of her mom's old VW. The letter is addressed to her mom and the date is 1972; it's a love letter and it's only signed with the initial "M". There's a return address, so C ...more

This is tough. I'm tackling a piece of Christian fiction. Those of you that know me personally, know I have a few unresolved issues with organized religion. You should also know that as much as I can't stand elitism (which I feel most religious groups propagate under the umbrella of what 'God wants') I am a fair reviewer.

This was a nice fast read. I got it for free from the kindle store and decided what the heck? Sounded interesting. And it was. The story kept you guessing. At times you pretty much figured it out but every so often the author gave some twists in there that you didn't expect. It was well written and made you feel like you were there at times based on the details that you were explained.

The plot is based on Claire who loses her mother to cancer but what she didn't realize was that her mother has

It wasn't until I finished Delivered with Love that I discovered this was the author's first novel for adults, having previously written for the tween-age market. Finding that out was an ah-ha moment because this book really isn't suited for anyone with real life experience. Young adult at the most; however, as someone pointed out on my Amazon review, they would NEVER want their teenage daughter following the main character's actions.

Delivered with Love is an overly sweet story that pushes the b
“Delivered with Love” is a story of mistakes, redemption and love. And the heroine certainly goes though the gauntlet of emotions.

I enjoyed how the book opened. She is put into a challenging circumstance, but doesn’t stand around waiting for life to change – she makes a change to her life. Unfortunately it doesn’t go off just the way she planned.

I enjoyed the cast of secondary characters brought into the story. They were a great blend of quirky and mentor and adding a bit of comic relief to wha
My Review

Claire James is fired from her job after finding a mysterious letter in her mom’s car, written to her mom from an unknown lover many years ago. Claire’s mom lost her battle with cancer a year before, and Claire has been living with her sister and her drunk of a brother-in-law. Since she can no longer pay rent, the brother-in-law kicks her out of the house. This gives Claire a perfect opportunity to pursue finding the unknown author of the letter with the address of Capitola. Her journey

I had a couple of problems with this book. First, while the story was sweet I feel it fell flat in the execution. The writing was very dry at points and some of the metaphors that were used made no sense to me. One that stuck out was when it said the seventy-plus degree weather slapped Claire in the face. Pretty much everyone I know would call that kind of weather beautiful, nice or pleasant. Something that's beautiful, nice or pleasant isn't going to slap you in the face.

This is my first encounter with Christian Lit. If it is any kind of example of the norm, it will be my last encounter.

This book is filled with too good to be true people, an incredibly naive main character, and the mention of prayer at least five times a page. Now, I am all for prayer. I don't know if I have ever met anyone who thinks of nothing else or who cannot make any decision in life without going on and on about it though.

To make matters worse, this book boasts mostly one dimensional char
I loved this book! This is Sherry Kyle's debut novel (though she has published other books for younger readers) and she created a great story for adults in this book. When Claire inherits her mother's VW Beetle, she finds an old love letter in the glove compartment and sets out to discover writer. The setting (the California coast) is vivid, the characters engaging, and the plot intriguing. I had the honor of endorsing this book, and here's what I said:

Delivered With Love is a book that shows how God can place others in ours lives at just the right time to make a difference in how we see Him and ourselves. It also shows how a life can go from a terrible situation to something better if we will put forth the effort and make the move to do it. I loved the characters in the book. Claire was strong in many ways even though she had her doubts and fears about loving others. She didn't back down or run away from situations that were less than pleasan ...more
Claire found a letter addressed to her mom from "M" in her VW beetle that Claire inherited. Her life in LA had been uninteresting and unfulfilling while living with her sister Haley and her husband Mark and working as a waitress. She decided to go to Capiola to search for the mysterious "M". Along the way she meets some interesting people while discovering that kindness and trust can be found in the most unlikliest of places when Jesus is involved. A very enjoyable book! Claire James, at the beginning of the book, is a lot like I was a few years ago, just following my mother's death. I'd spent the previous few years being a caretaker, and I didn't really know where I fit in now that she was gone, just like Claire. Sometimes it feels like I still don't. I kinda wish I'd had something to tell me where to try to go first, like she did with the letter she found, and some strangers to help me along the way, as kind as the ones she met.

I plugged through this because I HATE leaving books unfinished, but the main character really really irritated me, so it was hard to get into the book. The premise is that Claire finds a letter written to her teenage mother after her mother dies. She goes in search of the writer of the letter and JUST HAPPENS to run into people who put her right in the path of her biological father (who didn't even know she existed). Her search for God, her lack of trust as she falls for the hunky police officer ...more
This book was a quick, easy read and I enjoyed it. At first I thought it was kinda hokey how so many people in Claire's life just happened to show up, but when I thought about it, I realized only God can make such things happen. I was reminded of my sister when the tow truck driver took Claire home. The same thing happened to my sister many years ago. She had run away, was hitchhiking, got picked up by a trucker who took her to his home. While she was in the shower, he and his wife found my phon ...more
Cute little book. I know that sounds condescending, but I don't mean it that way. It's a sweet story with a rather predictable ending that I liked anyway.

Claire James, after her mother's death, loses her job and can't continue living with her sister. She packs everything into the old VW that used to belong to her mother, and sets out for a new life. She discovers and old love letter in the glove compartment of the car, and decides to find the man who wrote it to her mother. She ends up in the t
Free download for kindle. I've read some poor reviews that mentioned bad editing. Honestly, I've seen MUCH worse in many independently published e-books I've downloaded for free. However, this book comes from a major publishing house, so it SHOULD be better. About half of the time, the closing quotation marks were placed after a space, directly before the next word, making it look like an opening quotation mark and causing a bit of confusion until I got used to it. That was not enough to take me ...more
