This book sucked the big cheese. I'm am in no way a prude but it's a little hard to take your heroine seriously when she is running around naked the ENTIRE book. How awkward. Esp. when she's constantly fighting gladiator style. The whole time I thought; "well, I guess it's a good thing she doesn't have balls or a hairy ass crack."

**SPOILERS**

Let's see... Riley is raped, beaten, abused, oh yeah & the best yet....going to have naked mud wrestling as an "...more

I've read mixed reviews on this series but I did like this book. Riley is part of the team investigating genetic experiments being carried out on shifters and Riley manages to get a job inside the offender's mansion as a fighter-entertainment for rich lunatics to enjoy watching. Once inside Riley is trying to find the main labs through psychic exploration of her guards minds during sex, locate a child hostage and help a race of creatures to escape, all without raising suspicion. But her fellow f...more

This is the third book in the Riley Jenson series and I have mixed feelings about it. This book starts right where it left off with Riley – half vampire, half werewolf – in training with the Directorate to become a guardian. She is getting ready for her first mission to take down Deshon Starr, a criminal who has been making his own creations by mixing DNA from humans and non humans. She has to infiltrate his compound along with her partners, Kade, Rhoan, Quinn, and take him out! This novel is ve...more

I can't quite put my finger on what makes me enjoy the series more than many other 5+ book urban fantasy series out there, but there is something good at work here. I enjoyed Tempting Evil immensely, and I'm glad I read it. This novel picks up right where the last one left off. Riley is training to be a guardian (whether she likes it or not) so that she can infiltrate the lair of the man behind the labs and killings mentioned in the previous novels. The action and suspense don't let up the entir...more

A fun sort of read about a dhampir with an outrageous sex drive.
I love how it is set in Melbourne, Australia (my home town), and the writing quality is great. It never seems to get too clunky; except in the really drawn out sex scenes.
Riley, a Guardian, is continuing a quest to stop a madman from creating a mutant army. Although kicking some serious butt she beds just about every male character in the story.
What I did notice with Arthur's story line is that if:
a) A woman is ...more

Just as Riley is accepting that her life is leading her into being a guardian, she is thrust into her first undercover operations. Although her need to see this through is what has kept her going these past months, she may not be ready for what she discovers.

With the timetable moved up, Riley has just completed minimal training from the Directorate before she must go undercover to the man who is behind the gene breeding, Deshon Starr.

As feared, the drugs given to her by Talo...more

About the book:
Riley Jensen is a unique blend of supernatural, half-werewolf, half-vampire. In this book, she is sent on her very first mission as a Guardian to help the Directorate, an organization that polices supernatural beings. Her mission is to infiltrate the compound owned by a madman who is behind a string of labs trying to create the perfect paranormal soldier - strong and disposable. She's had very little training, especially since she has new abilities developing all of a sudd...more

Recommends it for: not for the faint of heart
This book, actually this series is not for everyone. The subject matter dealt with can be offensive to anyone that cannot put aside their own personal feeling about sex and using ones body to achieve their goals. This particular book has scenes of rape and hand to hand combat death matches. It's not all about romance, rainbows and unicorns. Although some of the lab born creatures may well be part unicorn, who knows? Anyway, if you're squeamish about nudity, women's lib, sex, rape, humanoid ...more

Riley has taken the final step and become a fully fledged Guardian for the Directorate of Other Races, she still isn't sure that it is for the best but she wants to be part of the team that takes down Deshon Starr. Her first mission isn't going to be easy - it is up to her to infiltrate Deshon's stronghold and try to discover where his secret labs are hidden so that the DOR can destroy them. While deep undercover she is going to have to be wary about who she trusts but she will also find frien...more

Well, well, well... I can honestly say that I am really enjoying this series. Riley is a character unlike any other that I've read in that she's probably the most promiscuous. But that is a human term and you can't really call a wolf promiscuous, can you? Regardless of her "style", she's a force to be reckoned with. She's gone undercover for the Directorate to find out more about the labs and the mastermind behind them. She faces some creepy fellows and finds h...more

I can't quite put my finger on what makes me enjoy the series more than many other urban fantasy series out there, but there is something good at work here. I enjoyed Tempting Evil immensely, and I'm glad I read it.

The 3rd installment of the Riley Jenson series was as entincing as the first two novels. The story picks up where the 2nd book left off, Riley is about to find the person who has been behind all the cloning and who had kidnapped her. And like Misha said in the last book, ...more

Just finished Tempting Evil (Riley Jensen, #3) by Keri Arthur (★★★★). This is a borderline erotica urban fantasy series featuring half-werewolf, half-vampire, Aussie, Riley Jensen. Riley and her twin brother work for a paranormal policing agency known as The Directorate. Each book is a new piece of a larger mission for Riley and her friends.

This particular book has Riley infiltrating a large event at the home of the local mafia boss. The espionage/spy angle is exciting and well-done...more

I hated putting this book down, at timeS it was so charged with tension. I think this series just gets better even if it is more blood thirsty.

Riley is being sent undercover to Deshon Starr’s compound to help the Directorate of Other Races find the lab where experiments in DNA are being held so it can be destroyed. Again she runs into a few more non human creatures and has to fight he way through. She also agrees to help a couple of people that Jack (her boss) would prefer her not to b...more

It's hard to like a book when you don't really like the main character: Riley Jenson. All she seems to do (from the 1st book all the way through the 4th book - Dangerous Games) is complain, complain, and COMPLAIN about how she doesn't want to be a Guardian, and how she thinks her lover Quinn is too narrow-minded when he doesn't want her to have sex indiscrimmiantly. "Oh, boo-hoo, my boyfriend doens't want me to have sex with other men!" And the sex scenes are not even that good: there'...more

Every time I read these books I can't help but fall inlove with them again. They are truly amazing and everything I could want in a novel. I mean, werewolfs, vampires and sex all in the same book? It's every womens fantasy on print...

As with all the the books in the series, I'm not terribly fond of the take on werewolf sexual appetite this author seems to love. I don't really enjoy novels in which sex is meaningless and overabundant. It sort of takes away from the novel when every other page is a werewolf shagging another. I want story, not sex. If sex was my only gain, I'd read straight erotica, not paranormal romance.

Aside from that major flaw, this book was fun to read and kept me more entertained than the previ...more

This book is in sorts an end to the whole cross breeding villains. Riley has finally gotten Guardian training, and the plan to take out Deshon Starr and the entire cartel is in motion.

Riley goes into Starr's compound as one of this hired fighters for entertainment and works her magic at getting information and at the same time saving a couple of people on the way. There's Kade, Rhoan and Quinn at the compound with her. Its a bit tiring, the number of people she sleeps with in this b...more

Oh! Thank heavens! This books seems to be the end of the lab breeding back story--I liked it but there is only so much you can say and only so much mystery while still keeping it interesting for the reader. I was thrilled with the new developments in this book.

Without giving too much away, Riley goes undercover into Starr's "compound" as part of the entertainment for the men serving Starr--there is a little more to it that meets the eye. I thought she was just going in ...more

3.5 stars for this book

I was somewhat disappoibnted with the end. I am glad that Starr is dead and that crime organization is brought down.
Howeve I was disappointed with the last scene of this book, scene where Riley shoots Starr. That was it, there was barrely 2 page fihgt and than she Shots Starr while he is watching her fight one of his man.

I was disappointed, I was hoping for a bigger fight scene. But as I was reading and getting closer to the end there w...more

I thought this was a pretty good book in the Riley Jenson series. It ended the story arc of the genetic labratories which I was happy about because I thought that this story line was running it's course and needed to end soon. Honestly, this book / book's events went by really fast. It only was about a two maybe three day time period. I liked Quinn in this story (as in every story so far). I was a little upset with his actions early on but he redeemed himself, and I certainly liked his decision ...more

Just finished about to go on trip and I am taking the next two books to read. I read the back to see what's gonna happen in this book and I was not disappointed eventhough I did expect to read more of the character Kellan that's why I want to read the next book right afterward. This too very action pack nice steamy scenes. Riley is developing new skills very good at what she does and sets her mind to and trust her instincts which have been right on the money. I tried to think who the master m...more

I didn't enjoy Tempting Evil quite as much as the previous books in the series. Either there was too much going on in my every day life, or the story just didn't suck me in like the others. It took me a long time to finish which is unusual for me. The story wasn't gripping until it was almost over, but there was a lot of plot building and a secret was revealed that I would have love to learn more about. I still have questions which I won't ask because I don't want to spoil the story. Hopef...more

It's not as good as the other four series that she's written but I still enjoy it. It is very fast paced and full of action with a great lead character. It's different from her other series as she seems to introduce small discrepancies between them unless they're related, for example the NIkki & Micheal series and the Damask Circle series are definetly linked, the Werewolf series could be linked but the spooks series is set in a future time. For example in this series Vampires are only incapacit...more

I love these books. Wonder when Riley will figure out she loves Quinn?

I finally got over the "wolf" thing. I guess I'm a bit like Quinn :).

This 3rd in the series takes Riley and her brother (Rhoan) into the belly of the beast so to speak. They have found Starr and his location. They go in undercover. What happens is truly evil and intense. She's acting as an arena (fighting) whore and he is security. Starr has "regular" whores brought in to service his...more

This is the third in a series, but the first book I've read in the series. The biggest plus for me was that I didn't feel like I was missing a whole lot of information. This was a complete story on its own.

Being an ARC, there were a few minor errors that I hope were caught and fixed before the final copy. None of those errors really detracted from the entertaining story.

This is billed as a romance, yet the romance portion of the story really takes a back seat to the adve...more
