Dangerous Games (Riley Jenson Guardian #4)
by
Keri Arthur (Goodreads Author)
Vampire-werewolf Riley Jenson has become a full-fledged Guardian, but there is no time for self-congratulation. All over Melbourne, pretty women are being killed and sucked dry, left eviscerated in scattered warehouses. With sexy men everywhere, Riley finds some opportunity to distract herself from this carnage, but she can't ignore the news that Gautier, the last clone st...more

I am really enjoying this series. I like the fact that the back story has evolved and changed in this book, the 4th of the series. I find that I get bored with series that don't vary the story that links the individual books together.
In this series, as in most I read, I find that I am somewhat drawn to the villains--kind of like those you love to hate (of course the good guys too). I did not feel that way towards the villains in this book. Take Jin for instance. From the descr...more

There aren’t many things that make my stomach turn… lets face it…I’m a zombie junkie, my favorite movie is “28 Days Later”, and I laugh at the gore that makes most grown men squirm like 5 year old girls, but there is (naturally) one thing that I just can’t handle.
What is this 1 thing you ask? What has toppled the Princess of Puke? Sure… I’ll tell you, it’s rough sex, and “Dangerous Games” was full of it.

I was pleasantly surprised with the plot of this book. I absolutely love Gautier and I'm glad he had a part in this one, though I would have liked to see more of him. The demon summoning and god of darkness elements of the plot were interesting, the Riley's emotional vampire lover was entertaining. I really enjoy this series. Something about it just gets to me. So far I'm enjoying it more than Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Charlaine Harris, Karen Chance, and all of the other popular ones out th...more
This is the 4th story in the Riley Jensen series, to me it was not as good as the earlier ones, something was lacking but it was still a good read.
Rhoan and Riley are following a new vampire, who they think is responsible for a series of recent murders and he leads them to Gautier, the rogue vampire who was once the best Guardian for the Directorate of Other Races. He gets away though.

Ok....So this "Riley" girl reallllllly gets under my skin. Don't get me wrong. I like her--ALOT and she really gets herself into some fantastic episodes of peril, but she's very frustrating when it comes to her werewolf status and how she percieves relationships, or "relations" for that matter.

Dangerous Games is book 4 in the Riley Jensen series. Now that Deshon Starr has been dealt with, it's time for Riley and the directorate to deal with the dangerous, and cloned, former Guardian, Gautier. While she's dealing with that, there's also a serial killer on the loose that has been dumping the bodies of young women at abandoned warehouses. The signature of this killer? A missing finger on each woman's hand.

Ah Riley, your character never fails to disappoint. Despite the reviews I'd read briefly online, I'm not totally won over by this book as a lot of other readers seem to be. Its by far not the best in the series, even if Riley getting the guts to say no to Quinn is the end result.
I wasn't thrilled with the bad guys in this book and I think the lack of development on their part shows that they as characters were mainly there only to facilitate Quinn's character background. This book fe...more

The Riley jenson series is like brain candy. There's not too much extra thought processing that I need to do. There's really no deeper level than what is actually going on in the story as you're reading it (not that I can see anyway). I don't like all of my books this way but sometimes it's a nice departure. The fourth book in the series is no different.

Book 4 was good as well.
i noticed that this book has a lot less sex than privious three books did. But do not be afraid there is still sex, lots of talking about sex and lots of thinking about sex.
Sometimes I think that the main plot of this series is sex. Don't get mee wrong I love sex since in the books. But with this series I feel cheeted. Sex scenes are usually one paragraph long and that it. bam wam thank you mam. They are not well developed scenes or well played out. ...more

It's hard to like a book when you don't really like the main character: Riley Jenson. All she seems to do (from the 1st book all the way through the 4th book - Dangerous Games) is complain, complain, and COMPLAIN about how she doesn't want to be a Guardian, and how she thinks her lover Quinn is too narrow-minded when he doesn't want her to have sex indiscrimmiantly. "Oh, boo-hoo, my boyfriend doens't want me to have sex with other men!" And the sex scenes are not even that good: there'...more
It took me a while to read this one. I didn't get into it at first as I normally do, but I was very distracted with my new manga and anime obsession, sot that had a lot to do with it. Once I got about halfway in everything really picked up intensity and I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed this one. It was very suspensful and creepy! If this book were a movie it would be very Silence of the Lambs I think. The character Jin was scary and I don't think I could have gotten close to him like Ril...more
The beginning of this book is extremely slow. It's like this is book 1 of a series again. There was way too much self-reflection - I don't need constant reminders that Riley is on the road to being a "full-fledged guardian" but doesn't want to be. By this point, it's kind of moot. I think that this idea is one that can be shown, not told, after the many times the same sentence has been repeated.

This was a good addition to the series, but the plot/theme change didn't seem to work as well. The action was slower-paced and darker, and the tension between the characters didn't seem as finely written as in the first three books.
And I have to say it, I hate Quinn! I was pulling for him in the first, maybe second book but the third and fourth books have just ruined him for me. Quinn has abused and mistreated Riley, the main character more than once and I get so frustrated that she ...more

This book in the series was not as good as the last I must admit. It was ok. The introduction of demons was great, but everyone's disbelief except for Jack and Quinn's, that they even existed was far fetched. Come on with so many other different species already out there?
The attitude of Riley's perception of herself and the world around her is getting old and fustrating to say the least. I'm glad at least that Quinn finally has walked away And hopefully stays away. Riley needs a good...more

Riley has finally started handling cases as a guardian in this book. She's got new talents still developing which she's using to solve the nasties in this book.
The hunt with Gautier is finally on. Quite a few things happening here. There's more of Quinn and his past. And once again, a stalemate in their relationship. There are demons and dark gods.
The demons after Quinn and the dead women from Riley's cases come together to make this the darker of the books. The whole getting a...more

Still have to say that this series is not the best UF series out there but with each book I become more invested into the stories and characters. I'm looking forward to the next book and hopefully more Kellan.

wow Riley... boy , this girl never stops! lol her life is a big mumbo jumbo! I feel bad for her yet I envy her with a passion for all the "Action" she gets ... lol
Ok seriously though, this one is the 4th book and when you think that she's met all sorta crazy , it gets even crazier... This one (in comparison to the first 3) has more action, suspense and finally she sets the line towards the end of the book in terms of her relationship w/Quinn.. Another action packed book. I love this series. Each book has something new. It follows from the last book but there is always some new life or death situation going on. And I really feel that Riley handles them well. I also love that each book has a satisfying ending, I of coarse want to read the next one but I am not left feeling unsatisfied. Its nice to read a book and not going crazy having to know what comes next. I actually get to take my time and enjoy each book. Each book so far can just...more

And still it remains an exciting and 'edge of your seat' series! I loved this book too, loads of suspense and a fantastic plot line, very imaginative and so many different leads that could go off in other directions to progress the story. Full of steamy passion and sex, but also it does not lose the story and leaves you not wanting to put it down for a minute.
This is one of the best paranormal fantasy series I have ever read, and Keri Arthur is fast becoming my favourite author!

Best one so far.
So Riley is trying to track a serial killer down while evading Gauthier and figuring what Quinn is up to. The trail to the serial killer leads her to a club where she meets Jin, a guy who seems to be human but isn't entirely. After hooking up with Jin and a night of a bit-too-rough sex for Riley, she runs into Quinn who's stalking the person living with Jin. Oops.

This book was put on hold for a very looong time, I misplaced it and finally got the urge to look for it since Smut Slut Fest is about to happen and I saw Tigris_Eden and Larissa_Sarah talking about it on Twitter or they might have suggested to me or I might have seen it on their blog or all of the scenarios mentioned. So I thought what the heck, it is time to give werewolves a chance. I favor vampires greatly, there's something about changing into something fury makes them less attractive to me...more
With the fourth book in Keri Arthur's Guardian series, it just keeps getting better as each new mystery pulls the reader deeper and deeper into the lust filled life of half vampire and half werewolve, Riley Jenson. This book has Riley just toeing the line at a Guardian, even if she doesn't want to be the paid killer that the Directorate wants her to be. Although right now she isn't so sure this is a bad thing with a serial killer on the loose. Only this killer is beyond anything she has ever f...more
