This guy repeats himself over, and over and over and over again, for the entire book. I don't know why he bothers with chapters when a little pamplet would have done nicely.

I tink that Jole Osteen is more of a motivational speaker. I belive he has a love for GOd, please don't get me wrong, however I do think that he is to focused on positive thinking. He says over and over again that if you think it, and believe it enough, than God will provide it. I don't necessarily belive that to be true. There are many bad things that happen to good people, and I belive there is a purpose and a plan for everything under HEaven, just like the Bible says.... you have to take the More...

People come down hard on Joel Osteen. By the religious he's accused of preaching a prosperity gospel (he doesn't). By the secular he's accused of having too much money (though he *shares* that wealth, and encourages others to do the same). Joel Osteen just can't stay out of trouble, but he is the head of the largest church congregation in America (http://www.sermoncentral.com/articleb.as...), with books on best-seller lists, so not everyone is critical of him. I'm not.

I had heard a lot about Joel Osteen in recent years, and found myself very curious about him for some reason. Being raised Catholic, it's sort of an oddity for someone like me to be intrigued by a television preacher. (You're supposed to only seek guidance from your parish priest!) So it was with some trepidation that I bought this book. I rationalized that I had found it on sale at the local Walmart, so it was okay.

I read this book at a very stressful time in my life. I was und More...

It might sound really cliche but there are parts of this book that have changed my way of thinking. Pastor Joel Osteen doesn't just tell you the best advice I've heard in a long time, he speaks the More...

Before reading this book, I had a hard time with my family. I also had many discontent in my life. Especially, I have studied in order to go to school in USA for getting a master degree. Whole procedures were not easy for me to move forward with positive attitude. I'm allways nervious about my future and my result of test. I had no confidense and I'm crying all day with negative image. I almost thought a bad action. Whenever I face a barrier, I just try to avoid this circumstance. That was my li More...

Joel is the pastor of Lakewood Church here in Houston. My father was a big fan of his father's - John Osteen, and our whole family would pile up on Sunday and drive out to hear him preach. Now Joel has taken over (John Osteen passed away) and his following is about 45,000 strong every Sunday, and he broadcasts around the world. This book is very uplifting and Joel tells us how God wants more for us than our minds are allowing, and how we can change that.

I went through the first half of the book thinking that the author sounded a bit repetitive at times and a bit overzealous (getting slightly annoyed at the excessive use of exclamation marks ;p) but I pressed on because it had its brilliant moments too. However to my appreciation this book got better and better as it went on. It is a book that has definitely made a lasting influence on me. It is insightful and conveys a lot of positive messenges. It reminded me that God is good and He is wil More...

I can't believe I'm reading this book; let alone admitting that I'm reading it! This is so far outside the norm for me!

Where & how did I get it then?! This book was one of many on my grandmother's bookshelf when she died that I ended up taking home to sort through "later". I think her sister from Houston gave it to her. Then, to be honest, I needed something to kill time (in the bathroom) and this was More...

Pastor Osteen's book caught me at just the right time. A guest in our home accidentally left it behind and I picked it up on an impulse. Joel's words have given me a bit of the old spring in my step.
If you are "spiritually-oriented" like I am, don't take this book literally. Substitute "God" with "The Universe" or "Buddha" and all of a sudden the positive metaphors about synchronicity and faith fly. It's a good, easy read, taken in small doses. Searc More...

Though I read this book second after Osteen's "This Is Your Time" woke me up to the fact that I needed to stop being so hard on myself, this book still had some practical steps to walking in the Christian faith. It's somewhat of a retread of the aforementioned book, and the book fails to stress that bad things will still happen and offer advice with how to deal with those situations, but the basic truth that faith and love in Christ will lead to great things is still here. I don't be More...

Joel Osteen is a phenominal speaker as he is a writer. This book discusses some of his life's hardship and trials. He also tells you what action he took to overcome his battles. Joel Osteen also tries to relate to an average person's life and try to give advice that will improve your life. He also uses biblical references since he is a pastor to advise you on what do to in a tough situation. This book is a great book to read when on a plane or before you go to bed. I have read my share of Motivational and Spiritual books. Joel Osteen's style and approach leaks of true sincerness. I felt as if he were in my home talking directly to me. This book came in a time during my life when I truly needed some encouragement. Things in my life such as my divorce, and my business doing poorly resulted to me second guessing my capability. I understand now that despite of things not looking so great that they can change. I just need to stay encouraged. Thank you Mr Osteen More...

Although it may sound silly, I found this book quite responsive in terms of guidance and encouragement. As this has been an extremely hectic semester, I was unable to read this as hungrily as I would have intended. However, on those rare quiet evenings when I had somehow managed to finish my homework early, I would pick up this book and read a little before bed. What a wonderful book to wind down with, to inspire you, and to refresh your spirit. Sure enough, whatever I was struggling with at th More...

An inspiring Christian self help book. Joel Olsteen puts together 7 keys to living a full life and confirms them with Bible quotations, Bible stories and personal anecdotes. The book also describes how one can develop a personal relationship with God to enhance the impact of the 7 keys. Joel describes an omnipresent God who is ready to bestow blessings and assistance on those who follow his design in living their life. I enjoyed the book and feel the 7 keys have substantial merit and will g More...

This is going to be a mixed review. I just finished reading Joel Osteen’s Your Best Life Now. I enjoy watching Joel preach Sunday mornings on TV from Lakewood church. I’d like to drive to Houston someday to see him live. I think he is one of the most inspirational men out there today. However, getting through Joel’s book was, at times, mind-numbing. Sermons do not necessarily translate to chapters of a book. I would recommend reading a chapter, putting it down for a few weeks, reading another ch More...

Loved every single page. This book is so uplifting and hopeful and gives you the tools and knowledge needed to truly live a life full of faith and service which inevitably leeds us to happiness. I can't say enough about it, I've highlighted and dogeared almost the entire thing. I'll keep this on my shelf and reread it now and then. I've always enjoyed listening to Joel Osteen speak, but this book exceeded my expectations. I only wish I'd read it sooner!

I've enjoyed listening to this book to/from work every day. It gives me that little extra oomph to start and end my days. Read by the author, it has that little bit extra b/c you get to hear the writing exactly as he intended it. This would be a really great bible study book as this is the kind of book that only makes a difference if you actually apply what you learn, not just read it and move on. They're simple principles in theory (and similar to many other books written on this subject) b More...

I was always told that if you wanted to learn how to do something, find someone who is way better at it than and learn from them. If you don't know how to make every little second in life to be fantastic, and I am sure I don't, then Joel Osteen would be the man to read. This book definitely helps you to keep your eyes off of yourself and your problems and keeps you focused on the bigger picture. Rev. Osteen and I have very different theologies, but this book is full of practical life advice. It reminds me so much of the Investment in Excellence program developed by Lew Tice in the 1980s. I took his course, from him in Seattle, and then taught the course at ROLM for several years. About 1/4 through Rev. Osteen's book it dawned on me that this was all Investment in Excellence stuff with a little God and Bible thrown in.

I wasn't even going to add this book to my Goodreads list, but after my blog entry today that discussed parts of it, I decided to just go ahead.

I never would have read this book if my mother hadn't sent it to me. When I opened the FedEx package she sent, I thought “Oh no, why did she send this, if I’m not even going to read it.” But then I started it, and it’s got a really good message. It’s kind of like The Secret, which was such an important book and movie for me, but with God. Wh More...

I believe God led me to this book. I was so engaged and energized from the beginning to end. Initially, I was looking for the Purpose Driven Life, but found this one instead. Of course I got the other book as well. Yes, he does have a tendency to repeat himself, but it didn't bother me at all. Hey! Am learning to enlarge my vision! Oh, boy . . .Letting go of the past is a challenge though. Slowly but surely.

I picked up this book on CD before my trip to Seattle this past week and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a really religious person but, this book on CD may of changed my thinking... enough to actually watch him on T.v. tonight! He has a nice spiratural way about him to give good advice on living a happy life. I can see why he is one of the most famous preachers, he's inspiring to listen to.

Joel and I don't see eye to eye, but he has some good things to say. While I find him a little too new-agey for me, his feel-goodness is infectious. Much of what he writes really is common-sense Christianity and very plainly said. I read this over a long period only a few pages at a time. More than once I found what a I read directly related to what was going on in my life that particular day/week.

While this book is written by a famous television evangelist, it is a very positive and helpful, motivational and inspirational book. I know some readers might be turned off because they view it as a "Christian book", which it can certainly qualify as, but any reader can read it and get a strong positive message from it and ignore any parts that don't fit in with their view of the universe.

I will be reading this starting tonight. A couple of years ago, I was waiting for my ex at Barnes and Noble, and flipped through a few pages and liked what I read. I bought the book soon after, but never got a chance to read it. I like Joel Osteen for the most part, and since I'm on the path of self-realization/improvement/etc, I'll see what he has to say.

Osteen presents a Christian lifestyle very different from that lived by Jesus. In a time and culture where greed reigns supreme, it doesn't surprise me that his prosperity gospel and belief that being Christian grants one privileges, including a favored position in the checkout lane at the grocery store. He delivers a message that people want to hear, not that which Jesus preaches.
