5 stars – Romantic Suspense

I really enjoyed Stephanie Tyler's Hard to Hold trilogy and love the ACRO series that she co-writes with fellow author Larissa Ione as Sydney Croft, so I was excited about Tyler's new military romantic suspense series. And Lie with Me, the first installment in the Shadow Force series, lived up to my high expectations and then some. It's explosive with fascinating, complex characters, an intriguing, intricate plot, thrilling action and danger, intelligent suspense and e
It's not too often where you read a book and it feels like the author peered into your mind and wrote a book specifically for your likes and dislikes. Even though ST is a NTM author that is exactly what she did. This book had very tight plotting and considering that we had two romances going on at once, I thought that was pretty good. Even better both romances felt like they got equal time with the story, so by the end of the story I was happy for both couples and didn't feel like either one got ...more
Just okay contemporary military romance. Nothing to really stand it out from the pack as far as I’m concerned, except for perhaps the fact the author does more than one romantic couple per book. In this one, two men from a former special ops team go after the man who recruited them. But it seems the man himself is in danger and they end up rescuing him rather than taking him out. Course the fact that one of them falls for the man’s daughter helped that.

Despite my lack of enthusiasm, I’ll probabl
Fantastic story of Cam and Sky. I have never read Stephanie Tyler's book before but i truly enjoyed this one. Cant wait to read the next one. Need to know about Olivia. Fast paced , action packed. Lots of great lovin. Cam at first was a complete asshole! Sorry but seriously calling like I read it. Lol Sky was awesome. She was in recovery from a kidney transplant and was trying so hard to be strong when everything went to hell. I admit she was more forgiving than I would have been. At least so qu ...more

I didn't love this. I liked the story and the characters, but it took a while to get going for me. Maybe because I had to start and stop so many times, due to that thing called real life (lol)! I didn't get a chance to feel really pulled into this and feel like I couldn't put it down. Zanes book is next and seems promising. Starting that today.
Good book. I liked both Skylar and Cam. Both of them are strong people, but also have issues that make them feel more realistic. Cam is ready to be done with dancing to Gabriel's tune with the black ops work and has finally found a way to do it. He's going to kidnap the man's daughter and use her to force Gabriel to set him free. But when he shows up to take her, he discovers that he's not the only one with that idea and ends up protecting her rather than using her. Skylar is an author of spy no ...more

After reading Lora Leigh's Midnight Sin I needed to get the awful taste out of my mouth. I needed to read some fabulous Black Ops book and make it all better. I dove into Stephanie Tyler's Shadow Force series. I am only familiar with her work through the ACRO series she co-writes with Larissa Ione under the name Sydney Croft. I love that series so I figured that this one would be easy to fall in love with as well. I finished book one, Lie with Me and I am ready to open up boo
4,5 stars!!

Cameron 'Cam' Moore is Delta Force. Hard, proud and honorable. Thanks to things in his past he’s indebted to Gabriel Creighton and forced to do black ops for him as it's either the black ops or 2 consecutive life sentences in jail. Easy choice. There’s no love lost between them and Cam wants out. He’s had enough and is going to use Gabriel's only daughter as leverage to get out of from under the man’s thumb.

This only daughter is author Skylar 'Sky' Slavin, who writes thrillers. She re
I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the story very much...I always enjoy this type of storyline. The author's writing style, however, leaves much to be desired. I HATE that she basically said how many flashbacks can I possibly put in one book and then proceeded to reach her goal. I don't mind a good flashback for story purposes, but not at least one in every chapter and not when you're flashing back to things that the reader could've just been told about. Half the book was in italic ...more

A new series from Stephanie Tyler: Shadow Force. Even better than her previous work. I'm reading this and wondering, just who the main characters are. Not that I don't know, but this is written so well and the characters are so colorful and well drawn. There are two couples. The main one being Cameron Moore and Skylar Slavin. Don't count out Dylan and Riley. Their roles are far from small and at times surpass the lead characters. The journey through this novel is wonderfully explosive and consta ...more
This was a pretty good book. I've read one other ST book and didn't like it at all (Hard to Hold). Of course you have to suspend your belief in all things real, but I honestly didn't mind since I did enjoy the ride Ms. Tyler took me on.

The hero was quite likable. Strong, alpha and fell in love super-quick (kind of like a LMR hero). Loved that while the heroine was physically weak, she was not a weak woman. The secondary romance with Cam's friend Dylan was enjoyable as well.

I'll definitely keep a
3.5 stars. A high velocity read but for some reason I just couldn't get into the characters. In the beginning of the story I had that feeling you get when you walk in late to a movie. The story has already begun and now you have to catch up. The upshot is that there are lots of little hints of things to come and I'm eager to discover more about Zane and Olivia. Furthermore, I have a feeling this is not the last of Dylan, Riley, and maybe even Caleb?

I don't particularly like military/war novels and I completely shy away from terrorist themed books. So I'm always wary when starting a new black ops series since you never know where or how far into detail it's going to go. I got lucky with this one. Just enough details to keep you interested but not enough to turn my stomach.

Cameron Moore is indebted to Gabriel Creighton (black ops leader) since he got him out of a life sentence in jail (for something he didn't do). However, Cam is sick and t

3 Solid Stars or B Rating.

Both the Heroine and Hero were likable enough, and are kindred spirits in loneliness. The heroine recently had a kidney transplant, and has had on going issues since her teens, and the hero was framed for murder and imprisoned when he was just a lad. I liked them together, they complimented each other nicely.

They have sex on their first meeting and fall in love in three days.
I really hate that plot device, and really, I just don't understand it. But hey, it's a book.

In Lie With Me, we meet Cameron Moore. Delta Force Operative, who's job is the CIA's black ops dirty work--payment for keeping him out of jail. Driven by a need to escape the man who gave him a second chance at a free life, Cam, along with his best, and only trusted friend Dylan, come up with a plan to aid them by capturing bestselling author Skylar Slavin, daughter of CIA agent Gabriel Creighton. The plan, was to kidnap Sky and hold her as leverage for Cam so he'd be able to
I really have problems with the author's style. In each chapter you follow the story from several characters' point of view, and at the beginning there's also flashbacks about them, it confusing at time.
But the plot was interesting and well done, and I liked the 2 couples. Both heroines are strong each on her own way, and the heroes are both good.
Three and quarter stars. The writing is decent if a bit dense at times and most of the main characters were well developed. The suspense worked better in the first half of the book when there was still a lot of things left to reveal and less well as the author began to contradict some of what she had established making for a muddled conclusion. The book opens with Cameron, the main hero, being attacked by his CIA contacts who apparently have orders to kill him from his handler, Gabriel. By the e ...more
When I first started this series, I had a few problems with it. I didn’t really feel connected to the characters. Oh, there’s a great deal of narration and back story for most of the characters, esp. the lead characters, but at first, I didn’t feel invested in their lives, in them as characters. I cared if Cam, Sky, Dylan, and Riley died, but beyond that was a little put off as if they didn’t register for me. I’m not sure why that it.

However, as I kept reading, I started to have an interest in t

High Five to Stephanie Tyler and her debut book in the new "Shadow Force" series. Lie with Me is an edgy thriller that packs a punch with plenty of explosive action and sizzing and heart-wrenching romance. Tyler has given readers another winner you won't want to miss out on!
OMG! Brutal! I couldn't finish it. I knew if I continued reading it my eyeballs would pop out from rolling upwards so much. So ridiculous!
To Skylar her dad Gabriel had just become her savior. He had just donated his kidney to save his daughters life. But to Cam, Gabriel is the man that makes his life a living hell. Gabriel helped Cam get out of jail when he was 19 and Cam has been working for him ever since. Gabriel a CIA operative has Cam go on secret missions that are not sanction by the CIA. Cam is tired of having to go on these missions but knows that if he stops Gabriel will send him right back to jail.

Stephanie Tyler’s second trilogy introduces a new set of military men and their adventures. Cam Moore has spent more than ten years doing Gabriel Creighton’s dirty deeds and has decided he won’t do them any longer. To ensure his freedom, he plans to kidnap Creighton’s daughter Skylar Slavin and use her for leverage. Unbeknownst to him, Cam isn’t the only person who wants to use Skylar against her father and his role goes from that of kidnapper to savior.

In Lie With Me, Tyler does an amazing job

Two days after reading this and I'm still not sure how I feel about this book.

Usually the focus of any romantic entanglement between characters in a romantic suspense novel is on one couple. In this story we got a double dose from two separate couples, which meant double (almost triple) the amount of sex scenes. I found myself flipping through most of them, especially those between Dylan and Ri because their type of relationship was very Mr & Mrs Smith - volatile and somewhat sexy, but I fel

Lie With Me by Stephanie Tyler

Years ago, at the age of 19, Black Ops specialist Cameron Moore spent two years in prison suffering abuse at the hands of inmates. Although his prison stint left him with deep emotional issues it also awakened in him a strong sense of survival. He became a ruthless fighter with a hardened mentality toward life.

Thus, when CIA agent Gabriel Creighton approaches Cam with a deal that could erase his criminal record, he jumps at the opportunity, hoping to turn
This is the first in a new series by Tyler, but is very reminiscent of her Hold trilogy. The main characters in this book are Cam and Skylar. Cam is involved in black ops and has been trying to get out for several years. When a helo comes to pick him up for a new mission Cam finds out that his mentor Gabriel (who he despises) is trying to kill him. To try and finally get leverage over Gabriel and get out of the business, he decides to go after Skylar, Gabriel's secret daughter. But when Cam show ...more

Book 1 in the Shadow Force series, the reader actually gets 2 romances: that of Dylan & Riley who've tangled with each other through the years and can't decide whether to kiss or kill the other and Cameron & Skylar who meet when he kidnaps her supposedly for her protection.

Cameron is a Delta Force operative, but has been doing black ops jobs for Skylar's father for years. The CIA man, Gabriel Creighton, had once rescued him from prison, but Cam wants to break free of his hold...but the C

Then Cam came along to seduce and kill some lady
Yet somehow they didn’t all end up in the graveyard

This is my way of saying that I didn't really like Jake. Nick was really closed off, but not in a bad way. Babies always wanted to come out when Chris was around, which was really a crack up. Cam's initial idea was to find Skylar seduce her for information and then kill her if necessary (but we'll

In this first book of her Shadow Force series, Stephanie Tyler sets up a complex world with a large cast of cleverly interconnected government and military covert operatives. I went back and forth between loving the book and being annoyed with it, often for the same reasons. Ultimately I was won over by Tyler’s characters with their stripped down defenses, vulnerability, and willingness to open up to each other despite their pain. There is a main couple, but r
