I have to start by saying that I have a real soft spot for Paige Toon. She's an Australian author (or grew up in Australia at least) and most of her novels so far have some sort of link or make reference to Australia. Her books also twine together subtly; often with characters from one book making cameos in another.
Another thing I can say about Toon's books is that she doesn't shy away from the crappy stuff in life. Most of her stories take a hell of a lot of drama to get to their HEA, h...more

Let me start off by saying that it is not often I fall in love with an author and Paige Toon has been a constant love of mine the past few years. I first read Lucy in the Sky back in 2009 but after returning the copy to my public library I lost the name of the book and author. Finally last summer after getting a job at my local Chapters I came across One Perfect Summer and my addiction to Paige and all her amazing characters began. This is the fourth of Paige's books I've read (I'm not reading t...more

The story started out excruciatingly slow. We spend quite a few chapters listening to Meg being mopey and telling us about her life with Christian and her son. Nothing really happens until Johnny shows up at Christian's parents' house. I really felt bad for Meg throughout the whole book because her situation just seemed impossible to deal with. I'm not sure how I felt about Johnny through all this. I mean, yeah, there were times when was actually sweet and it was obvious that he cared about Meg...more
I did a very quick read of this book, and now that I'm done with it, I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not exactly what I call inventive or different or unique in any way. It developed the way I thought it would and it ended the way I thought it would. If you're looking for something new, this is not that book.
The characters, while varied, never struck me as anyone I particularly cared about. Meg spends a lot of time feeling guilty, and when she's not feeling guilty she's torn about what sh...more

This is the follow-up to Johnny Be Good which was published in 2008 so it's been a long anxious wait to find out what happened to Meg and Johnny. I haven't read that book but I wish I had -- I don't think I needed to read it but, after finishing this, I wanted to read it, if only to know more about their relationship before this sequel.
I loved the writing style, it was not over-dramatic or soppy, it had just the right amount of tenderness and fun and sadness all wrapped up in the story.

English-born Meg lives in the South of France with her boyfriend Christian and their baby son Barney. Meg can’t enjoy life as a new mother as she is constantly worried that her secret will come out: Barney is not Christian’s son but the result of a short affair with Johnny Jefferson, a rock star, who she used to work for.
She realises that Barney starts to look like Johnny more and more as he grows older, and it’s only a matter of time before people will guess the truth. She has to take a decisio...more

Meg has a secret. The baby she's had --now a happy, babbling toddler -- does not belong to her boyfriend Christian, but to Johnny Jefferson, the world'smost famous rock star. She wasn't sure who the father was, but the baby looks more and more like Johnny every day, and less and less like Christian. She knows the secret must come out at some point, but she's terrified to tell it. What will the cost be for keeping her secret, or for spilling it... for her son or for herself?

I've been patiently waiting for this novel since I finished Johnny Be Good the week after it was released; tiding myself over with the novels Toon released in between - both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, Baby Be Mine just didn't live up to the hopes I had for it.
I loved the cliffhanger at the end of Johnny Be Good, and was desperate to find out what happened to Meg, but on reading the first few chapters, I was getting a bit bored with her going on and on about how guilty she felt. It's...more

I think I did love this book. I couldn’t put it down as there was more drama, tension and very sweet and cute scenes. Despite it having an obvious plot and being able to guess most of the storyline I still couldn’t put it down! I loved that the characters have grown more in this book. Meg is a lot stronger and confident, she knows whats good and bad for her and nearly always makes the right decision. Johnny also grows up, takes responsibility and sorts himself out (although that doesn’t really h...more
This book tells the story about Meg who found herself in a dilemma. to tell her existing boyfriend about the true story of Barney's birth whom he thought is his son or keep the secret to herself which may posed a problem as Barney look more and more like his biological father, Johnny day by day. However, when Johnny finally found out the truth behind Barney's identity demanded Meg to allow him to play his role as a father, Meg realised that she have no excuse but to Christian about the truth.

Johnny Be Good was an unexpected delight and I eagerly started reading the sequel Baby Be Mine moments after completing the first part of Johnny and Meg's journey. When I started reading these books I expected light, fun reading, typical of the Chic Lit genre. Despite the many humorous dialogues between the characters, this book certainly isn't light reading. The main storyline does not allow for light reading - Meg's son Barney is not the produce of her current boyfriend but is the result of a...more

Loved reading this book.
I'm Meg Stiles. This is my leaving party. And that song we're making a mockery of? That's written by one of the biggest rock stars in the world. And I'm moving in with him tomorrow.
Seriously! I am not even joking. Well, maybe I'm misleading you a little bit. You see, I haven't actually met him yet...
No, I'm not a stalker. I'm his new PA. His Personal Assistant. And I am off to La-La Land. Los Angeles. The City of Angels—whatever you want to call it—and I can't bloody be...more

It’s fair to say that Paige Toon is one of my favourite Chick Lit authors. I’ve loved all of her books, Johnny Be Good being my favourite. Her writing style is something I love and her characters are always a joy to read about and she’s an author I look forward to each time summer rolls around. This year, though, I almost imploded with excitement because after THREE long years, the sequel to Johnny Be Good was finally in the making in the shape of Baby Be Mine. I haven’t read any novels from author Paige Toon and had seen all the excitement on Twitter so was really looking forward to reading Baby be Mine.
Even though Baby be Mine continues the story of Meg Stiles from ‘Johnny be Good’ it can also be read as a stand alone story. There is enough information as the story unfolds for us to get a clear picture of Meg and Johnny’s history together.

Blown away as always with this author! Follow onto "Johnny be Good", Meg has had her baby Barney and together with her boyfriend Christian are leading what seems a blissful life in the South of France. As Barney approaches his first birthday the one thing that Meg fears becomes apparent, Barney is not Christian's but belongs to Johnny following a one night stand. If she can see who else can? When she comes clean it all spirals into a nightmare, Johnny while wanting to be a daddy is still living...more
Enter page 11, I didn't like the heroine, Meg. She came across to me as whiney and rather selfish. Not willing to let.Christian know that the son is not his and when Christian got to know about it, she still tries to shove it down his throat by having Johnny meet the son.
Didn't really like Johnny either. In fact both hero and heroine seems to be weak. Meg going woozy each time Johnny is around and Johnny "ducking" around though he is portrayed ti be in love with meg.

One of my favourite authors is Paige Toon. I have read all of her books and have thouroghly enjoyed each one. When I heard that Paige had a new book being released I was so excited I pre-ordered it so I knew it would get here quickly and safely!

I'm not usually one for writing reviews, normally just happy to give a star rating and leave it at that. I couldn't do that with Baby Be Mine though. I've read Johnny be good and Baby be mine over the space of 2 days because I just could not put them down, might actually get some sleep tonight now.

I read Johnny Be Good and then this book in a 24 hour period. These characters are extremely emotionally exhausting. Meg should have learned her lesson in the first book about the craziness of sex, drugs and rock & roll. I understand why she let Johnny back into her life again but I was a little upset how easily she trusted him around her kid. After all, he's a drug addict who makes bad decisions. It also took Johnny too long to come around. I would have thought he'd change sooner rather tha...more

RELIEF doesn't even begin to cover it when I realised there was a sequel to Johnny Be Good.
I found this book faster moving then Johnny Be Good, but I guess sequels should be like this as you're already familiar with the characters.
My heart went out to Christian in this novel, and although I wanted to hate Meg I couldn't.
Johnny's GF in this though I didn't like, however it really helped reflect the kind of person Johnny was without Meg, and I had a smug satisfaction on behalf of Meg whilst see...more

Its here!! The sequel to ‘Johnny Be Good’ and by heavens it’s worth the wait! I thought i would have to re-read JBG as my memory is like a goldfish, but nope. Paige makes sure that she puts in little reminders, but without a need to read JBG factor. The story had me laughing and worried, it kept me turning the pages with the goings on of Meg’s Life.

I can't give this book a proper 5-star rating because there are loads of things that Paige Toon could have improved on. I did, however, love how things ended up. I was monumentally bothered by Johnny's actions until the last few chapters of the book.
What I love the most is how the story ended. It's an open ending, which is good. I wish Paige Toon would write another one from the point of view of Johnny. You know, like Slammed and Point of Retreat. One book from the point of view of Lake and the...more

I wish this hero just dropped dead.
I mean…I got trough all the angst of him ‘loving’ the heroine in book one.
She leaves him, ok.
Then he is back on the scene…..with a girlfriend.
One that he luuuuvs.
But the heroine is living with him because of the kid….so he is…jealous…and sometimes he is kissy and gropey…but we still have scenes where he fucks his girlfriend all over the place, and pretty much in the heroines presence.
So the HE?
Ew.
