Massie and Claire come up with a bet saying that A- Massie can't shop for a whole month, or get someone to buy stuff for her and B- Claire has to wear a completely different outfit every day for a whole month, including Keds. Whoever cracks first has to wear Massie's old snowsuits to school for a week- which includes leggings, goggles, ski boots, and a hat. After overhearing their mothers talk about wanting them to get alon...more It's almost Halloween and Massie and Claire are still not getting along. Massie and Claire come up with a bet saying that A- Massie can't shop for a whole month, or get someone to buy stuff for her and B- Claire has to wear a completely different outfit every day for a whole month, including Keds. Whoever cracks first has to wear Massie's old snowsuits to school for a week- which includes leggings, goggles, ski boots, and a hat. After overhearing their mothers talk about wanting them to get along, Massie comes up with am idea to get what she wants: a Halloween party to proove she's not "slipping." She tells Claire that if she pretends to be friends with Massie, and Massie with Claire, so Massie gets the Halloween party she wants, she'll get Claire's parents to get her the cell phone she wants but can't have until she's older. Their mom's agree, but twist around the deal a bit, Claire has to co-host since it was (but really wasn't) Claire's idea to invite some Briarwood boys as well as OCD girls. The Pretty Committee (Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen) also plan on wearing the same Dirty Devil costumes, no one else included. Then at the mall overhearing Massie and Claire's conversation about Halloween costumes, their mom's say they should wear the same costumes. On the day of Halloween, Massie, running out of things to wear thanks to her bet with Claire, decides to wear her Dirty Devil costume to school, and bring Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen's with her, excluding Claire from it, even though she's wearing the Dirty Devil costume too. The PC is caught for wearing the costumes and giving other girls the idea to dress like them, and are forced into LBR Lost-and-Found clothes. Later for the party, Claire wears a Blossom (from the Powerpuff Girls) costume instead, claiming to her parents that her little brother and his friend were Bubbles and Buttercup, and they needed a Blossom. Massie does her best to impress Cam, a Briarwood boy, because she likes him. But in the end, Cam ends up liking Claire. After the girls wearing the Dirty Devil costumes to school, the OCD school board decides that OCD needs uniforms, causing all the girls in school to blame Massie. She comes up with the idea for a contest to pick the design for the uniforms. Massie, Claire, Kristen, and Dylan end up working together and Alicia and Olivia work together. Everyone loves MCK&Ds design, and are the real winners, but Alicia and Olivia switch the pictures before the judge announces to winner so it'll look like they have more votes. Massie knows they did, but they just have to come up with a way to get back at them.(less)

When I first picked up this book, I wasn't so sure that I wanted to read it anymore. The title kind of threw me off. Once I started reading it, though, I understood the title. All in all, this was a very good book. It's very realistic and I liked it better than the first book! :]

I read this with my friend at the same time. It was O.K. I really didn't like it as much as the other ones- it was good, but not great. It's more like a giant introduction for the next three books.

The story starts during Mr. Block's celebratory birthday dinner in which Todd Lyons spills grape juice all over Massie's skirt. Massie accuses Claire of repeating outfits and Claire retorts that this is perfectly normal, and that Massie should be ashamed that she buys new clothes everyday. Massie's mother agrees that she has not come in the door without a shopping bag since she was nine. Landon Dorsey, the best Westchester party-planner, has the theme of "When Hell Freezes Over" Much to Massie's chagrin, Claire is her co-host for the party because Massie struck a deal about it with her mother. The PC's costume idea is 'Dirty Devils', while Claire has decided to wear last years powerpuff girl costume. Massie is stuck in a rut of what to wear, so she brings the revealing costumes to school so the entire Pretty Committee can wear them. When a wannabee cuts her stomach trying to imitate the costumes, just as everyone else had, Adele, the nurse, notifies Ms. Burns, the principal. The girls end up wearing horrible outfits for the rest of the day from the lost and found but when they go to Massie's Halloween party romance is everywhere. Claire ends up wearing an old PowerPuff Girls costume but that doesn't stop her from flirting with Cam Fisher, who happens to be Massie's secret crush. Olivia Ryan comes back to Westchester after a nose job and she and Alicia and her become friends and end up flirting with everyone that night. Derrick Harrington is crushing on Massie, and Massie doesn't know about it. Kristen and Dylan fight for Derrick's feelings for a while. Derrick is called Derrington secretly by Massie. The name comes from a mix of his first and last name. The next school day Principal Burns announces that the school is going uniform because of the reavealing Dirty Devil costumes. Massie begs Pia, the design teacher, to let her design the costume. Pia and Principal Burns made it into a contest. Massie and Claire are both competing. Massie's maid, Inez, accidentally throws away Claire's and Massie's practice uniforms. Massie and Claire team up (with the consenus to end the bet) and use Dylan and Kristen to model for them. In the end Alicia's and Olivia's uniform wins but only because they cheated by switching the boxes filled with votes. Massie and the rest of the girls find out but decide to "stay in the weeds." Cam and Claire end up falling for each other, but Massie only knows that Cam likes someone. The book ends with Massie vowing to hunt down the girl, and finishing her.(less)

Ouch does the title hurt. If you have read the first book, The Clique, you would know about the four girls in the Pretty Committee, and Claire Lyons, the girl who wants to be In. Things go sour for the two girls in the Pretty Committee, over a guy. It was always friends first ... right?
I liked this book, and all the other books in The Clique series. This one was special because it showed how the Pretty Committee fought each other in public and not only against everyone else in their school.

I really liked The Clique sequel because it had even more drama than the last book. At the beginning I was kind of bored, but as I read on, the book got more and more hooked on it. I think that what first made it interesting for me was when Claire bets Massie that she can't go a month without shopping and Massie bets Claire that she can't go the same amount of time without repeating clothes. In this book the Clique( Massie Block, Dylan Marvil, Kristen Gregory, Alicia Rivera, and the girl that is more on the edge Claire Lyons) are back for another chance at ruling the school. Seventh grader Massie Block is still the most popular girl at OCD( Octavian Day School), and in order to prove that, she plans on throwing the best and first ever boy/girl Halloween Party. However Massie gets overreacted about things that really arent a bad thing. She is unsure about which is worse, being forced to throw a party with Claire a un-popular girl or having to invite the entire seventh grade even the geeks at least Massie thinks they are the geeks. Dylan, on the other hand has finally lost the extra weight she was carrying around, and she is now determined to use her new body as a way to catch boys that are very cute and popular. Kristen knows one thing, while clothes are for sharing, guys are not, which is why she plans on catching the guys who Dylan likes, as she likes him as well, and keep him to herself. Alicia sees that The Clique is at each others throats, and she is planning to take it over, and is being the new hipster her rules OCD. Also Claire doesn't know if a boyfriend is good for her.

I would rate this book a five! This book was very good and it had very good character descriptions. Characters in the book made choices that I had never expected and I enjoyed reading the book. I loved reading the figurative language in the book because it was great description of the setting and characters. I also liked reading about the boy drama. It was very interesting to see what the other girls said when they asked about boys. This book had very good hooks and it was hard to put the book down because I wanted to see what happened next. I had to read this book because I enjoyed the first one in the series and I enjoyed this book and I am going to read the third book. I thought it was mean that Massie had the party when she heard that other girls were going to have aarty so she planned and had one first so she got all the fame and I felt very bad for the girls because they just got ruined because all of their planning is just gone because Massie had one and invited everyone. I thought it was mean when Massie didn't want to host the party with Claire and invite the entire grade. also two people in the Clique like the same boys and that was funny to see what happened next in everyone's relationship. I Faldo thought that the Clique deserved to get detention on Halloween when they wore their costumes to school because they were not school appraise and they should not have worn them to school that day. In conclusion, I think this book was very entertaining and deserves five stars and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.(less)

Adjusting to a whole new place and the nonstop peer pressure are basically the main problems of Claire Lyons.
The book takes place in New York at Octavian Country Day School where Massie Block and her 3 close friends Dylan, Alicia and Kristen rule the place. Even though they are in 7th grade their popularity around is well known and their clique is making Claire’s life really unpleasant as she has just moved in to the town. The story starts off celebrating Massie’s father’s birthday with Claire’s family where Massie finds out that her worst enemy Becca is planning to have a girl-boy Halloween party. While trying to beat Becca in her own game, Massie and Claire make a bet. According to the bet Massie is not allowed to do any shopping while Claire is not allowed to repeat any clothing for a month. The loser has to suffer the humiliation of wearing a snowsuit to the school. Besides their bet, both Massie and Claire agree on throwing a Halloween party at Massie’s house. The party turns out to be just fine. Claire finally meets his dream boy Cam and Massie also has a crush on him. Back at the school when Massie goes to school wearing a “Dirty Devil” Halloween costume, she starts a new trend and at the end turns into a trouble as the principal finds out. Despite principal’s prohibition the school comes up with a competition, which is designing a uniform. This competition process truly relates to the name of the book. You should read to find out more about the startling ending.
I would recommend this novel for young girls who enjoy reading complicated relationships and the troubles that a teenager goes through. You might find some similar cases in your life as well that you could relate yourself to this book. For instance, I see similar cases in my life every day. This novel was a gift from my mother and it had been standing on my bookshelf for a long time, so I decided to read it, after I have seen the movie of one of the series. For me the unexpected ending was the best part as it proved whom you could call a true friend. There weren't any challenges as the language was very fluent and easy to understand. I wouldn't change a single part in this novel because the combination of all events turns out just fine, as the way it should be.

While I have not read the first Clique novel, I was able to understand what was going on with the characters, and keep up with the commentary in Best Friends For Never, thanks to Lisi Harrison's fantastic way of re-capping what happened in the previous novel. However, after reading Best Friends For Never, I find myself craving more of The Clique. Each girl is unique in her own way, while at the same time making sure not to be too unique, as being unique can easily make you an outcast. I found The Clique to be a juicy new series that will appeal to girls who are too young for Cecily von Ziegesar's popular teen series Gossip Girl, but interested in reading about the goings on in a popular girls clique. Fans of the movie Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan, will find this new pre-teen/teen fiction to be scandalous, but not racy, and find themselves unable to put this book down until the very last word is read. As much as I love "The Clique" series, I have to say that this book was not one of the best. Once you pass the first chapter and go onto the second one, it makes you realize that the time passed by too quickly. It was like this wasn't the second book-more like the fifth.

In this book, I felt like we knew too little about Massie and her clique to feel any ties with them. Also, Lisi Harrison added in and said things that hadn't happened before, which added more confusion to this book. If only those mishaps were gone, this book would be ehma-amazing! (Massie-style)

The plot of this book is ah-mazing! Alicia overhears some girls doubting Massie's power of the Pretty Committee, and they decide to host the first Halloween party of the year. Massie is furious and decides to host her own boy/girl Halloween party...first. But while that happens, Massie makes a bet with Claire...that she can go at least a month without shopping.

But Massie is literally dying without buying new clothing every week. And in a desperate act, Massie and her group wear their dirty devils costume that they are going to wear to Massie's Halloween party that night. The only problem is that Claire tattles them out, and the Pretty Committee is suddenly walking around school in their less than dazzling t-shirts and stained pants. Pretty Committee? Not likely.

Massie's party is a hit until Alicia starts hanging out with Olivia, a LBR and a girl that is in Alicia's dance class- and when Alicia leaves the party early without saying anything. But that's not it. Because the PC violated the school's dress code, they decided to host a contest for the best school uniform, and Massie and the rest of the PC (and Claire) except Alicia, who is teamed up with Olivia, win the contest hands down.

And how do we know that? Because Massie painted her thimble purple and put it in their box. But somehow it ends up in Alicia's...and Massie knows they cheated. Will Massie and Alicia still be friends? Or will they be EFL? (Enemies for life)

Homework book #4. OK, I had to read this because I say about my own novels that they are not about upper class girls schools and girls who spend daddy's money in malls ... which is one of the vices, oft-metioned, of the main characters in this novel, part of the Clique series. What I could not tell is if the author was poking fun at these girls while telling their story, or if she was holding them up as examples to be followed. This book is a good book for people who want a good drama filled, girly book. This book has more drama than the first book in the series. Alicia met a new girl named Olivia, and Massie does not like her. Alicia and Olivia have done so many things together, that not Alicia and her other group of friends are not able to hang out with her. book shout out!
well these series of books are really good. they are fition books but when you feel like you are really in side of the books. especailliy when there is suspense at the end of a page you just get anxious for the next page to turn so that you can see what happens next.with all the different characters:massie , clarie ,alicia , dylan , kristen and many more. they will be sure to keep you at the edge of your chair.some of my favorite parts being when claire was found under the bleach...more

Auch im zweiten Teil der Glamour Clique buhlt Claire um die Freundschaft von Messie und da kommt es nur gelegen, dass Messis gezwungen ist vor den Eltern zu wirken als seien sie und Claire wirklich Freundinnen. Claire is caring and not self centered. Claire feels bad for the bet she made with Massie. Massie could care less. She feels bad for herself, not Claire. So you can see that Claire and Massie are opposites. Claire is a good person, and Massie is not. In the first book, I liked Massie, but now I don’t really like her anymore. I am annoyed and fed up with her attitude!

So you can see that Claire and Massie are opposites. Claire is a good person, and Massie is not. In the first book, I liked Massie, but now I don’t really like her anymore. I am annoyed and fed up with her attitude!

Toward the middle of the book, us readers found out that Claire and Massie are crushing on the same guy! Here I thought, “There’s going to be war!” I felt kind of bad for Claire because I thought she wouldn’t have a chance a chance against Massie and as usual she’d get her way.

I started to question Massie, like I have been since the first book in this series I read. Here I asked, why is Massie so obsessed with getting attention- is that why she’s happy she got in trouble??? Jeez, Massie will do anything to get attention! It gets on my nerves. I don’t go around groping for attention! Other people don’t, in the real world and the book! So why does she?

Massie and Claire started hanging out. It was said to be for their mothers and Claire’s new cell phone. But deep down, really really deep down (in Massie’s case), they are doing it because they both need someone they can be themselves around- they want to be friends. Then I was happy for Claire because of this because things seemed like they were falling into place for her.

During the school uniform contest, Massie called Claire beige and sickly in front of everyone. How does Claire let Massie do that? Sometimes, Claire is a pushover! Also, I hoped that the girls would win the contest because the uniforms were very stylish! But I didn’t think they’d win because of mean Principal Burns…

The finalists were Massie, Dylan, Kristen and Claire vs. Alicia and Olivia. Here I thought, “Oh no there’s going to be war and lots of drama! Especially if Alicia and Olivia win!” I thought this because lately, Alicia had been ditching the girls, and basically betraying them!

I enjoyed this book. I was so happy for Claire because she got what she wanted! I also liked the idea of designing uniforms! I would give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars but since they don’t have that on goodreads, I had to give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Hmm, maybe we can design uniforms for gym!!!

i really liked this book because in this book the octavian country day school, the school the clique goes to, has o go uniform. On top of that massie is throwing her first girl boy party for halloween and claire and massie had a bet that massie cant buy a single thing which is hard for her because she is a total shopaholic (like me)and claire cant reware the same outfit twice in a month and whoever looses has to wear massies old snow suit to school for a week. at massies boy girl halloween party...more
