This book tells the story of Rahab in the book of Joshua, the prostitute who assisted Israel's spies when they came to Jericho.

While the story began a little slow, I ultimately could not put it down. I laughed, I cried. The story stays close to the details in the Bible, while tying together a few ends into a possibility.

The slowness in the beginning is with the characterization of Rahab as a prostitute---he description is slightly generic. As the story unfolds, I am drawn into certain d...more

I have been intending to read this series of novellas for several years now, but as I read them this summer I realize that I may not have been ready earlier for all God is now teaching me. I have been learning much in recent years about the times of the patriarchs, and these small books focusing on the five women noted in the genealogy of Christ have given me greater insight than I ever imagined. From Tamar’s desperate attempts to awaken Judah’s sense of obligation, to Rahab’s great faith ...more

This one's the second of the Lineage of Grace series--five novellas based on the women mentioned in the lineage of Jesus Christ. Unashamed is the story of Rahab, the prostitute of Jericho who hid the Israelite spies and so ensured the survival of herself and her family. The tale is not as good as Unveiled, the first in the series, but it's still worth checking out. Its main weakness, I think, is that it's a tad overdone. Rahab is supposed to be the woman of faith, and with t...more

Francine Rivers does an excellent job creating a novel around Rahab, one who is mentioned only briefly in the bible. After reading this book one can see what the typical customs and practices were and how Rahab could have gotten into the position of being the town's prostitute. It also portrays the hard-heartedness of the people of Jericho and God's judgement upon them.

Rahab's faith in God is beautifully portrayed. Her willingness to follow God is stronger than feeling ashamed at who she is...more

Despite Rahab's life of sin and family pressures, she knew there had to be more to life then worldly pleasures. When two spies from the Israeli camp came along, she knew the Lord of these men was calling her to a greater purpose. Her faith in the unseen God she'd only heard about was strong and real, and she knew she had to do something about it. Francine Rivers does an awesome job of digging into the lives of all the women in "The Lineage ot Grace" series and makes them so real to

There are five books (more like novella's) in this series that are based on the lives of the five women in the lineage of Jesus. They don't have to be read in order, but it may make more sense if you do. I found them enjoyable; and had to remind myself that they are Francine River's take on the little bit of scripture we have on these women. They do give you some insight as to the culture and customs of the day.

Interesting novella about the fall of Jericho and one woman's faith. Rahab, a Jerichoan prostitute, had great faith in God and was saved from the destruction of Jericho and was accepted among the Israelites. Makes me want to read the entire series of novellas on the women who were instrumental in the lineage of Christ.

I can say that anything written by Francine Rivers (after she became a christian) is a wonderful read. Her biblical & hystorical accuracy is awesome & brings stories that we all have heard before to life.

Historical fiction, and you can tell Rivers had a history in romance novels...however, it does put you back into the ancient world and tell the story of a very unlikely heroine.

I love these Francine Rivers books. She really sticks to the Biblical account, but adds color to bring the story alive to the reader. I recommend the whole series.
