Oh my goodness, what a beginning!!! I thought I wasn't reading right, and then I realised yes, that's exactly what it is. I was scared to move beyond page one because of all the drama and tension.
Maeve Haile is your normal woman, happily married to Spenser with two teenage sons. As a library assistant, Maeve loves her job. She's into mysteries big time, so when she sees her neighbour with a woman other his wife, her curiosity is peeked and she feels compelled to investigate who the woman is. The...more

This was a great read. As the title suggests, two mature adults tried to solve a mystery with the mantra "What Would Nancy Do?". They were fans of Nancy Drew when they were young. It was a great mystery that they found themselves in. A wealthy woman was killed and there were plenty of 'persons of interest' to go around. Was it one of her children? Her accountant? Some crazy man? A business deal gone wrong? It played out right up to the last page, and I was surprised at the 'who done it'. Take th...more

Maeve Haile and Kate Hanson have been best friends since childhood. Now, middle-aged and busy caring for their families, they have found a nice, quiet life for themselves in Elkhorn, Colorado, the same small town they both grew up in.

The two friends, while out enjoying dinner at a restaurant one night, witnessed the shooting of Vivian Astaire, one of the few wealthy women in Elkhorn. Naturally, the murder falls into the hands of the local police who were unable to uncover very much. Afraid that...more

I was initially cautious about the book when I saw the title relate to Nancy Drew, but the book summary has proven itself otherwise, and I was not disappointed at all.

Being a fan of Sherlock Holmes, this book has fit in nicely. You just cannot put this book down as each page will engage you to the next page, and the next, and the next.

The greatest challenge in writing a mystery novel is keeping the reader guessing and baffled, and this book has done a good job of ensuring it all falls into place...more

This book I only got 7% in and packed up. There were missed speechmarks by that stage, missed apostrophes, misplaced apostrophes and you'd need to suspend belief that a wife witnesses a murder in the morning yet doesn't speak to her husband about till he gets home from work..........his job ? Editor of the local paper !!!
Sorry, can't take that on board.
I'd also downloaded the 2nd in the series as I did like the idea but they're not for me.

Really enjoyed this story was like watching a Miss Marple/Murder she Wrote. The charaters are fab and the story flowed really well.

I love this book. I grew up reading Nancy Drew and this is a perfect "big girls" follow-up to that.
Enjoyed it very much!!
