Can Sophie handle the truth? When Sophie fessed up after putting a snake in Ms. Moffly's desk, she learned that being honest pays off! Now it's all truth, all the time for this third-grader.

But sometimes the truth hurts. Sophie blabs so much that the other kids in class start calling her Sophie the Chatterbox. (Not exactly the title she had in mind.) Sophie cannot tell a l

My 2nd grade daughter loves this series. Some of her friends are also reading these, too.

I recommend that the parents read this book in particular, as well. I think it is a subject for discussion. It's about blunt honesty--blunt honesty that gets you in trouble. It is a fun read, but it opens up questions to an inquiring mind. How can you be honest while keeping a secret? And "How are you?" is more often a greeting that an inquiry.

I read these in the wrong order--Sophie the Chatterbox first, then Sophie the Hero, and I swear I have Sophie the Awesome too but I can't find it. But I think I get the gist. Sophie is cute, she's trying very hard to stand out as a third grader, but she's trying too hard and it's not making her any more likeable. A struggle for most people, I think. Girls will find Sophie relatable, although hopefully they will realize that one doesn't always have to try so hard.
3.5 stars

My favorite of the series so far, I think. The field trip here is hilarious, as are all of the things Sophie says in her quest to be Sophie the Honest. Definitely adorable.

Just finished reading this one to the girls last night -- we all thought it was a cute, fun story! (Hayley was especially tickled that there was a character with her name in the story -- and spelled just like hers too!)

Independently read and rated by Kate. This is the 3rd book in the series that Kate has been reading. Although she doesn't LOVE it, she does like it. It's a fun, light read.
