This book was a surprise to me. While I love Robyn Carr and the Virgin River series (and was most excited to read her story), it was the other two stories that made this book a solid winner - and it even renewed my interest in Victoria Dahl.

We have here three novellas, each set over New Year's Eve. The common theme seems to be that the heroines, and in two cases also the heroes, have to learn to get over their insecurities. The other hero has to adjust his expectations of his plans in life to accept what his heart is telling him. The characters' loneliness seems to be another common theme.

I only read the Robyn Carr story, so this review is only based on that.
The story is another one that while is in Virgin River isn't totally there. This short story seems to pull together from a couple other books. Sunny is still hurting from being left at the alter exactly a year ago and goes to Virgin River and her Uncle Nate's house to get away. While there New Year's Eve comes by which means there is a part at Jack's bar, where Sunny finds herself very reluctantly. Drew is up at his families...more

Midnight Confessions by Robyn Carr
This was a very cute fun read. Sunny and Drew made a believable couple. It was great watching them grown and overcome their past - well at least Sunny's - insecurities. I've read a few Robyn Carr's before and this is along the same lines. Heartwarming. It made me want to snuggle up with The Mr.

This great little anthology featured three wonderful stories about kissing at Midnight on New Years Eve!!
Robyn Carr starts us off with one of her Virgin River Series shorts, MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS. This features Sunny and Drew, the only singles at the town’s first ever New Year’s Eve party. I got a digital ARC of this book through NetGalley. Apparently I didn't read the blurb on the site, because for some reason I thought this was about vampires. It's way not. I've not read any of these authors before, so can't compare this with their other works. I liked the Brashear and Dahl stories, the Carr not so much.

I was so excited when I realised what there was another Robyn Carr Virgin River book out before 2011! I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! Happily it's in an Anthology with two other, new to me authors that I was happy enough to try out.

Three authors take on the infamous New Year's Midnight Kiss. A nice change up from the typical Christmas-themed romance short stories I have been reading lately.
Robin Carr's story Midnight Confessions was probably my least favorite of the three. I'd only give it 3 stars. An okay story, although I liked Drew, I just could not relate to Sunny, although I didn't necessarily dislike her either.

Look at that beautiful and enticing cover. You'll notice that Robyn Carr is the biggest name (in font size, and maybe also in popularity) but for me it was Dahl who caught my eye.
I have 'a thing' for Ms. Victoria Dahl's contemporaries and this one was no different. How much fun was it to read? Like all her contemporaries, it was a ton of fun! I started with this story because my pull to Dahl couldn't be denied. And I wasn't disappointed. I loved it.

After reading a couple of short stories lately, I realize that I not really fond of them. It seems with short stories that authors tend more to tell then show and that was the case with one of my favorite authors Robyn Carr.
The story starts out on New Years Eve a year after Sunny was left at the altar by her fiance. Sunny is still very bitter, hurt and angry at life and men. Her Uncle wants to go down to Jack's for a party, and Sunny is guilted into going. There she meets Drew Foley (bother of...more

I requested this book from netgalley because I love Victoria Dahl. She is hilarious and it's never wrong to try some new to me authors. So I grabbed this chance and I yep it was a win. All three stories in this anthology are about this special moment when the new year starts with a big bang.

"Midnight Confessions" by Robyn Carr
In quiet Virgin River, Drew and Sunny find themselves two of the few single, young folks at a New Year's Eve celebration. Drew is instantly drawn to Sunny, but she is still suffering from the pain and humiliation of being dumped at the alter a year ago to the day.

I haven’t read this whole book. I am reading my way through the Virgin River series so I only read Midnight Confessions by Robyn Carr. Nice to see Drew make an appearance although I was surprise to see him show up so early. Sunny and Drew are two broken hearted people who find each other on New Year’s Eve. I wasn’t disappointed in this one but I wasn’t thrilled either. The story a bit on the predictable sides but there are a few good laughing moments and a few “awe that is sweet” moments. Good q...more

Not being a big fan of romance anthologies, I still gave this one hope because the title sounded too sexy to be a dud. I do however, have to inform you that you would be better off skipping straight to the last story if you are looking for a good hot quickie. Unfortunatly, the first story left me bored and uninterested with all it's goodness and feel good too-cute moments. All hope is not lost because it does heat up with the second story but the heroine was to much of a push-over for me to real...more
I’m a fan of anthologies because the novellas are a quick read and provide an extra visit with a favorite author and/or an inexpensive introduction to a new one. Since Midnight Kiss is a contemporary anthology (a subgenre I read too seldom) and includes stories by two authors who have given me countless hours of reading pleasure and another I sometimes enjoy, I was delighted to receive an eARC of it from the publisher through NetGalley. The reality was less glorious than my expectations.

Sweet New Years Eve story involving Drew Foley (Erin and Marcie's younger brother) and Sunny Archer (Nate Jensen's niece). His fiancée called off their engagement a year ago and her fiancé was a no-show on their wedding day. Drew seems to have adjusted and moved on; Sunny is still bitter. Drew is instantly attracted; Sunny gives him the cold shoulder. Before midnight arrives, they are sharing their truths about the busted relationships and find warmth in each other.

"Take a Risk" by Robyn Carr has a woman who doesn't believe in love going home for a midnight kiss by a man who's been just as badly burned but still believes in love. Sunny Archer was dumped the previous New Year's Eve at the proverbial altar and now she hates all men. Drew Foley is a medical student whose fiancée may or may not have cheated on him, but he doesn't seem to mind.

I picked this up because it had Virgin River Story 12 in it. I'm working my way through that series. The reading was good, nothing stuck out that was drastically wrong. The Virgin River story was good but I don't see why it couldn't have been added to one of the other books. That series has a few running romances at a time and I didn't think it deserved it's own 'book'. The other two stories were good but nothing fantastic. I just felt like I wouldn't have been harmed if I had never read the thr...more

This novella is about Sunny and Drew. Each character is related to other Virgin River characters and are in the are for the holidays. And Drew is just hanging around VR, taking a break from his medical studies. But the moment he sees Sunny,...more

I am such a sucker for the Virgin River series, so when I saw this at the grocery store, I picked it up. There is just something about Jack's bar. I spent as much time figuring out who wasn't at the New Year's Eve party as I followed the main story line. The choice of Drew and Sunny as the main characters in this romance were adequate, the story did not have much meat.

2 1/2 Stars: Dissapointed! I like all the stories in this series about new people and the regular towns folk included of course. If this story would have started back a year ago at Erin's wedding and went forward I would have given it a 3 or 4 stars. I do not like reading and then comes a flash back to their past events which took up alot of the story. I like to read about the present and future with "alittle" past description. This was written backwards to me. Just my opinion even though the b...more
I'm not usually a big fan of anthologies, because the stories are really too short for adequate character development. This one wasn't bad though. I of course liked the Robyn Carr story, as it is linked to the Virgin River series. I also liked the Victoria Dahl story. The other story is by an author with whom I am not familiar, and while I liked the hero in this one (who wouldn't? Big gorgeous guy with an Irish accent who cooks and fixes stuff in my house- bring him on!), I did NOT like the hero...more
This was originally on my list for the Virgin River story. Carr needs to be supplying some combination of family tree/org chart with every story now because it's hard to keep up with who's who. But it was still a fun story of a woman badly jilted who has to decide how long to remain angry with the world and the orthopedic resident who makes the decision a little clearer. What a perfect book to read on New Years Eve, and it was completely by accident! I just love it when things like that happen.
What I love even more, is having my expectations so significantly surpassed. I didn't expect big things from this book - I was just reading it for the Virgin River entry, after all - but what I got were three fantastic stories and by far the best anthology I've ever read. What a surprise!

I enjoyed reading these three short stories. The first one by Robyn Carr left me wanting to know more about Sunny and Drew and I hope to see them in the next Virgin River book.
The second story by Jean Brashear was also a good story. It is the first thing I have read by this author and I would like to try a full book by her. New Years Eve romance between Dr. Drew Foley (Erin and Marcie's brother) and Dr. Nate's niece Sunny Archer. Drew is in Virgin River to have some study time and stumbles onto the New Years Party at Jack's. He is instantly drawn to Sunny but she is wary. One year ago today she was left at the alter and she is in a really bad mood. Drew is just what the doctor ordered-- he just has to convince Sunny. Fun romance that includes characters from previous books--quick read.
This is a novella that I'd like to have seen developed into a full length novel. Sunny Archer, Nate's neice, and Drew Foley, Erin's brother, accidentally meet at a New Year's party at Jacks. Both have been rejected my people they'd been engaged to and are suffering from embarrassment and broken hearts. The self-examinations, admissions of truths, and acceptance of faults are very well done as the two confide in each other. Now, it's time to move on....
