OK, I’m going to say it. The first book that I read of Ms. Houston’s didn’t leave me with a great impression. I have bought other books of hers that I haven’t read yet since then. But this book in particular attracted me because it’s really rare to find a f/f historical. So I bought it and unlike the others, didn’t leave it on my shelf to read at a later date.

Margaret is a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth I. She becomes Bess' lover. Captures the period well. Not graphic sex but there is some and it works in the story well. Jealousy rears its ugly head and is believable and well written.

Shelves: lesbian
I've been on the lookout for some historical lesbian fiction (recommendations welcome!)since that's what I've been working on writing lately, and I find the Tudors fascinating so I couldn't resist this book. Overall I thought it was quite good, but I had one or two issues with the language.
