LONESTAR SANCTUARY was my second read by Colleen Coble, and it will definitely not be my last. Ms. Coble writes great romantic suspense, and what's even better - she writes great Christian romantic suspense, without beating you over the head with the Christian references.

Allie Siders has dealt with too much death over the last few years. First, her husband was killed in the war in Afghanistan, and her in-laws are determined to gain custody of her daughter. Then her parents died in a tragic plan

Widow Allie Siders is desperate to help her 5 year old daughter,Betsy speak again after witnessing something that made her withdraw from the world. But with an unknown stalker out for revenge, all Allie can think about is the safety that awaits them at the peaceful and remote Bluebird Ranch.
Nestled deep in the Texas Hill country, the ranch is not only a sanctuary for abused horses but troubled youths. Here is where Allie is determined that her young daughter can heal as well as give them both a

Last week my insomniac husband couldn't sleep, so he went into our guest room to try and fall asleep. Unable to do so, he opened the nightstand drawer and pulled out a copy of Lonestar Sanctuary - leftover from when I read it long ago. He figured that if anything was going to make him go into catatonic sleep, this book would do it, so he began to read. To his surprise (and mine), he couldn't put it down, and went to bed early each night for the next two days so he could read in bed. It was the f ...more

I could not put this book down at all. Someone was falling Allie she had to go to an old friend of her husband. So she and her daughter went to find him and to try to live with her grandpa. But when they meant they both didn't expect what was going on. They both secrets that will change both of their life.
When Rick found out that she was his best friends wife and that she came looking for his help. Allie's parents in-law what's cussed over Allie's daughter. When Rick heard that he known that he
Whenever I sit to write another book-review,inevitably I need to strain my brain hard enough to get to remember the niceties of the paperbacks I was lucky(or often unlucky enough) to go through! But this time,I did make it a point to get it done very soon,if not sooner. And so,here I am.

Unlike the previous hard bound I got from the same publishers, frankly speaking this paperback really did not live upto the expectations the first novel mustered upon me by its quality. But everything can’t and shou
Coble writes a romantic-thriller with a Christian perspective. You wouldn't think it was Christian to begin with and never gets preachy, so I thought it was well done. The thriller part not so much. I guess the difference between "thriller" and "mystery" is what's catching me up. I want a chance to figure it out, but the story gives no clues (I still knew who it was pretty early on). I guess that's supposed to help with the tension ("Who could possibly want to harm me?!?"), but instead it felt a ...more
I ended up being a disappointed with this book. Based on the synopsis, I was expecting a tense, fast-paced thriller with danger around every corner. While the main character does face danger, I was left waiting for something horrific that never came. Beyond that, I'm never thrilled when religious undertones pop up in a book unexpectedly. I really have an issue with someone saying that xx happened because it was God's will. That's my issue, though, and while I probably wouldn't have downloaded th ...more

The story starts off intense and did a good job of hooking me in. The stakes were high for Allie and she fears for her and her daughter's life. When the arrive at a safe destination, it turns out not to be as safe as they hoped. Her stalker is still out there and knows exactly where she is.

Not only is she dealing with significant loses in her life, but she also has to deal with a judgmental ranch hand, Rick, who is also an old friend of her late husband. Rick's preposterous idea to save her lif

Great adventure

This one takes many twists and turns before you get to the end.
Be sure you have a lot of time you won't put it down.
This is a who-dunnit set in West Texas. For a mystery novel, it worked its magic on me. I could not put it down and the characters still haunt me, days later. So, I recommend if you are looking for a good mystery and can stand a cowboy/ranch life setting. It also has some interesting side issues, such as foster care, child custody, PTSD, and combat loyalties. What drove me nuts in a bad way was how Allie kept getting injured in suspenseful scenes, then the injuries are forgotten, glossed over, n ...more
Lonestar Sanctuary is a multiple level mystery, a contemporary Christian love story with a veteran, a beautiful strong woman and an adorable five-year-old little girl.

Allie Siders flees the rodeo with her daughter Betsy after a stalker comes into her trailer at the rodeo and threatens her. She heads for a ranch owned by Elijah DeAngelo because he runs the ranch to help troubled young people and rescue abused horses. Betsy does not talk so Allie hopes coming to the Bluebird Ranch can keep them sa
"Real love isn't about chemistry or at least not only about chemistry. If it were, when I've got a pot belly and you've got a turkey neck, we'll want to go look for someone younger. I want more than that from a marriage."

Meet Allie Siders, a Rodeo Queen and her daughter Betsy, 5. Who is threatening Allie? With her parents and sister all dead i.e. murdered, can she get away and hide. Leaving behind the chance of winning the barrel racing this year, Allie heads to Bluebird Ranch where she knows a

Characters: Flawed characters make for the best stories, and this novel certainly had them. They were the flaws that made them feel real and really come alive. Rick had guilt. Allie was a bit too self-assured. Even a number of the minor characters had those details that kept them from being too larger than life. I loved getting to know the people that populated this story. I was happy for them sometimes and feared for them at other times.

Storyline: This novel was hard to put down. From the first

This is a contemporary romance interlaced with intrigue and suspense. If you love cowboys, which I do, you will love this story. Allie Siders is a young mother who just wants a safe place for her and her daughter. Allie's life has never been easy, but at least she always felt safe. Her parents were killed in a plane crash a year ago and last month her only sister was murdered. Every time she feels safe her stalker shows up and she's running again. She's scared and tired, but knows that she has t ...more
Mystery and Romance! Who is trying to kill all those Allie loves? Where will she & her young daughter be safe? Before he left for war, her husband, Jon, had told her if he didn't come home, she should rely on his best friend, Rick. When she finds him at Bluebird Ranch, she can't imagine why Jon would have told her this man would help.

Rick has his own demons to deal with, but his ties to Jon impel him to commit to saving Allie & Betsy from all harm.

Through many twists and turns, Allie fa
This was a really good book. I did figure out early on who the stalker/killer was but that is ok. This is one of the best Christian Fiction books I have read in a long time. I cannot wait to read more of hers.

This book was similar to book 3, which I read first in the series. In both, the woman is being chased by someone but we don't know whom or why. Both women marry a man they don't know and eventually fall in love. Then they get married in a "real" ceremony. They both have daughters. Now I'm reading book #2 and again, there is a woman being chased by someone we don't know, and why, we don't know. She also has a daughter and is about to marry someone she barely knows. Hmm. I know it's a series, but ...more
Easy read, good plot, likeable characters. I figured out who the stalker was 2/3 of the way through though so it took some of the pleasure out the the story.
This was my first book by Coble but it won't be my last.

Someone is after Allie and she has no idea why. Her husband Jon was killed in Iraq then her parents were killed in a suspicious plane accident and her sister murdered. This is all too much for 5 year old Betsy. The final straw is when an intruder breaks into Allie's trailer at the rodeo while she is in the shower and threatens to kill her and everyone she loves. Allie is able to get away and takes Betsy to a ranch to look up Rick, who her
This was a Kindle free book. I had my doubts, but it was actually a very good book. Well written, kept me thinking till the end.

Talk about distrust at first sight! Allie is being stalked and harassed by an unknown force. This person has killed her loved ones, threatened her, followed her, and messed with her. She runs away to her grandfather's ranch in search of help for her daughter who hasn't spoken since witnessing a horrific accident and also finding a ranch hand that was her husband's best friend, Rick. Rick has a damaged past, brought up by an abusive mother. His first meeting with Allie leads him to believe she is ...more
Allie is in grave danger, someone is out to kill her and she has no idea why. The story opens with an intruder in her caravan and a scary scenario of Allie trapped in the shower while her daughter Betsy sleeps unprotected. Allie’s parents were killed in a plane crash which her daughter witnessed and caused her to go mute; shortly after Allie’s sister is murdered. All alone after the death of her husband in Iraq Allie now has to contend with his parents seeking custody of Betsy. The ranch is not ...more
This is a very sweet story of love, loss and renewal. Allie is struggling to survive the death of her husband and raise their little girl. She must fight against her daughter's pain, her former in-laws cruelty and someone threatening her life. Rick survived war physically but he is emotionally damaged. He made a promise to his friend Jon to protect Jon's family but was too broken to follow through on that promise. Elijah is an old man who has survived heartache while finding the strength to help ...more
My new favorite series! I couldn't put this book down and was so glad that I already had the next 3 books in the series from the library. At least there is something good that comes from long road trips..long stretches of reading time.

Allie Siders had a fairytale romance, marriage, family, but then it was striped from her one person at a time. Her husband was killed in combat leaving her a widow with a 5 year old daughter, her inlaws are relentless with trying to take her daughter for a "better

I still have about 40 pages left, but it is amazing. It's about a wife and her husband, parents sister, and even friend died. All of them except the husband where murdered by the same person. Now the wife took her daughter and left secretly to the Lonestar Sanctuary were her grandfather works because after her sister was murdered the same man at night locked her in her bathroom at night and threatened to kill her daughter or what she loves most. When she screamed for help he left the next day sh ...more

I got this as a Kindle Freebie some time back and thought I would read it while I took a trip to California for my cousin's wedding.

They need to escape a danger that threatens them and the only person who can help them is at the Bluebird Ranch in Texas hill country. It is a good book to spend time reading. Allie has a generalized belief/view of God but does her best to trust him. Someone is stalking her and killing members of her family. The police don't seem to care. She runs to the Bluebird Youth Ranch, which turns out to be her grandfather's place. She's hoping for protection without telling him she needs protection. The foreman is an ex-alcoholic who promised Allie's husband he would take care of her. He didn't. Lots of obstacles and personal growth.
