What a really REALLY cute story! I have never read a paranormal Romance book in a PG 13 way before - Kimber An did a REALLY Good job with this one!

This story along with the paranormal vampires (Alien/human hybrids) and shape shifters - has a really good moral to it - Ophelia - a typical 17 year old teenager who wants a shot to be as normal as she can be - was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 9. She struggles with her father's illness and her mother's stress.
And let's not to forget her wack...more

I actually have a hard time reviewing this one. It is far superior to the prequel and I did enjoy this book. I will have to say that I did not connect with Ophelia for quite some time. She was supposed to be a highly intelligent girl who is on the fast track to college, but her inner dialog was more toward a bubble headed girl who thought about nothing but boys. It just didn't gel with other things she did or wanted in life. However, I was still interested in what was going on and why Martin, h...more

Sugar Rush is Book 1 in the Ophelia Dawson Chronicles. It's a fantastic start to a series that I will continue to follow. Its unique and fun and very quick read.

Sugar Rush follows Ophelia as she is trying to keep her distant from her ex boyfriend Martin. Who is very very creepy. She has a secret admirer who has been leaving her little gifts and drawings for a few month until he finally reveals himself. However, poor Ophelia is in terrible da...more

After reading CRUSHED SUGAR, the prequel to SUGAR RUSH, I couldn't wait to get my hands on SUGAR RUSH, the first book in the Ophelia Dawson Chronicles. This is one amazing story Kimber An has created. I’m still trying to get all my emotions together to write this review. The storyline is amazing, and it’s a completely different kind of Paranormal. It pulled me right into the world of newbloods that are cultivating all of the sweet-bloods for their own personal needs, along with the diabecracker,...more

I really, really wanted to like this one - I mean the covers for this series are beautiful! - but unfortunately I just couldn't finish reading it. The prequel novella Crushed Sugar left me with a lot of questions & despite getting 36% into Sugar Rush we still know very little about the paranormal aspect of the story which I just found incredibly frustrating.

The characters all act a lot younger than 16 years old and the expressions they used constantly (Oh My Dog being the main one) were driv...more

Oh, yes, of course I gave this one five stars too, because I wrote it. The difference between this one and Star Captains' Daughter is Sugar Rush was published by Decadent and benefitted from better skills and several professional editors. I still worry the Heroine's too much of a Trekkie and her sister cusses too much, but I love 'em anyway.

Ophelia a diabetic girl learns her blood holds the irresistible pull to all vampires. There are two species of vampires that are incredibly powerful. In the middle of it she must fight to remain unclaimed. While at the same time falling in love with Adrian a sweet and fierce human boy. Ophelia is a smart and funny girl who the likes most ,young adult readers, haven't seen. She's no Bella Swan(Twilight)or Rose Hathaway(Vampire...more

Kimber An never had enough books when she was a kid and the ones she had didn’t turn out the way she wanted. And so she started writing her own. She also loved babies a lot, but didn’t know how to talk to boys. Instead, she became a nanny and took care of other people’s babies. Finally, she moved to Alaska where she met a boy who understood getting whacked in the head with a wadded up piece of pap...more
