Bevis of Hampton is a romance of romances. It is exhausting to read, with absolutely no padding, each line telling the action of the story. I would classify it as one of Don Quixote's romances-that-drive-one-mad as it is so difficult to keep up with the incessant action, with little that seems to unify the story. This EETS had no glossing of difficult words, which I found would have been helpful. But it does compare the MS to the five other editions, which is wonderful.
