A Rough Riders free read.

Keely McKay Donohue is enduring the longest wedding reception of her life: her own. The only saving grace is that Jack Donohue is finally hers. Usually her hunky man gives her everything she wants, so why is her groom denying her the one thing she wants right now?

Jack thought his secretive wait-for-the-honeymoon plan was romantic, until he realizes...more

Ho-hum read that works like an extra epilogue to All Jacked Up. If you've read and liked that book, you'll want to read this free - yay! - story even though it adds (almost) nothing to the series; if you haven't, don't bother because it doesn't stand on its own.

My verdict: Jack is still yummilicious and Keely is a spoiled brat, but they love each other and that's all that matters.

And here's what happened when she finally got him:

And she's on top because she won the bet. ;)

4 stars – Contemporary Erotic Romance

Oh poor, poor Keely. You married a doting, sexy-as-sin stud who wants to romance you off your feet by whisking you to the exotic island of Tahiti to give you the perfect, memorable wedding night of your life and two weeks of pampered honeymoon bliss, including a secluded villa on your very own private beach, and you’re too much of a horny spoiled b*tch to appreciate it?!?! Jack, please drop Bratty Keely back at the airport, and I’ll be your devoted island lov...more

This is a free (Yay!) quickie available (http://www.mybookstoreandmore.com/slo...) from Lorelei James. It takes place during Keely McKay and Jack Donohue's (All Jacked Up) wedding reception and honeymoon.

Keely is hungry for her bridegroom. She can hardly wait to get through her wedding reception--she wants her sexy groom now! She doesn't want to wait for the elaborate, romantic honeymoon night that Jack has arranged. So she's going to try everything in her power to get a little taste of Jack, e...more

I am a fan of Lorelei James Rough Riders Series and Slow Rider is a short story of Keely & Jack’s wedding which takes place after book 8 and if you have not read them and just want a quick and hot, sexy and steamy tale, then you will enjoy it, otherwise you might get lost in all the going-ons and all those dozen characters you are not familiar with.

This series is truly fabulous…hot cowboys and sexy women, steamy and unconventional sex encounters of two really interesting cowboy dynasties – T...more

I couldn't decide if I wanted to give this one 3 stars or 4 because my actual rating is a 3.5. However, I went with a 3 because of how bitchy Keely was just because Jack wanted to do something romantic for their first night together as husband and wife. The sweet moment with AJ and Cord was nice, it was awesome of Carson to deed some of the McKay lands to Keely and Jack, and Jack was just amazing. Keely just put a little bit of a damper on this for me. She seriously can't go a few hours without...more

Review:

I chose to read this book because it was a FREE read. It still is, by the way, so feel free to pop on by Amazon, B&N, Samhain, wherever you can find it and download it. I had just gotten my Droid and was beyond excited to find that Kindle had an app for Droid. I mean BEYOND excited people. I loaded up with FREE reads and went nuts! Nuts I tell you! I have a huge list of books I...more

Slow Ride is a tease, in more ways than one! It is enough of a snippet to make you want to read more of the McKay stories....tease 1. That brings us to tease 2...Keely has married the sexiest man alive, and on their wedding day, all she can think about is having hot, wild sex with him. But he has other plans.
They enjoy wild, passionate lovemaking and they both have healthy sex drives. Keely is chomping at the bit, but her new hubby wants to romance her, to make her wedding night the most romant...more

Hardly anyone can tease her characters or her readers better than Lorelei James. Of course, depending on where the teasing is going on depends on the reaction you’ll get. We met Jack and Keely in their book, All Jacked Up, earlier this year, and I had been anticipating Keely’s book for a while. She’s the only female in a horde of brothers, all of whom are very dominant, alpha, sexy, the whole nine yards. She was also a wild child character when she showed up in the previous books in this series....more

Realistically, this is a 4.5 star read, but I still can't help but heap praise on this story that's too short simply because it is Keely and Jack, and I have never been so fascinated with a romance couple, regardless of what's going on or what their discussion might be. It is really because of the completely engaging rapport of the couple and a testament to their amazing connection and chemistry that my praise is so high. I love that we get to see their wedding reception, the fact that they're s...more

This was a very short story that takes place during and just after Jack and Keely's wedding. When I saw there was going to be a short for J & K, I was thrilled because their book left some unanswered questions. Some of those answers were revealed in conversation in this book, but I think it might have played out as a pretty good novella (working out his moving his business or not moving it, where they would live, etc).

But this was just a quickie and all it served to do was showcase everythin...more

This was the first thing I ever read written by Lorelei James. I'm not a fan of Erotica (and there was no sex in this freebie) because often it's just porn. I don't see the point in reading it. I read Dirty by Megan Hart and loved it, though. With her it's like.. she literally strips her characters down to their core and that's something very unique.

So, I thought I should give James a chance, especially because this little tidbit was for free on Amazon. I don't regret reading it, although I did...more

This was what I've been looking for ever since Keely's story, I'm glad Ms James wrote a quickie about it. It was entertaining and very short, it just centered on Keely and Jack's wedding reception, and how horny she is but Jack doesn't yield.

When they finally get to their honeymoon place, she's cranky and sarcastic and though Jack's intentions were understandable, he should've told her why and not just leaving her in that state. I was amused by Keely's antics when she tried and persevered to cha...more

This is the very first novel I read of Lorelei James and what got me so hooked on her stories. In this short story, we follow Keely and Jack during and after their wedding reception. Keely is excited to finally become Mrs. Jack Donohue and can't wait to "seal the deal", wishing she and Jack could sneak away from the party unnoticed for a short while. But Jack isn't having any of it, wanting their first time together as husband and wife to be a special thing instead of a quick romp in the bridal...more

If you haven't read the book to which this is a sequel, don't bother with this. You won't be given any clues as to whom each character really is nor to what the significance of her Dad's action is.

On the plus side, the entire book is one lo-o-o-ong foreplay scene. And hey, freebie?

3.5 This was pretty cute. I haven't read this series yet but I figured this short story would let me know if I like the writing style . And I did. So now I look forward to reading the beginning of Jack and Keely.

This short follow-up read to 'All Jacked Up' was a fun look at Jack and Keely's wedding. I loved the sweet moment with her dad and then the playful way she tried to entice him along with how Jack was so comfortable keeping all her relations in check. The only niggle I had was that I felt sorry for Jack that after all his planning for a romantic first time Keely wigged a little making the poor guy grovel and wonder where he went wrong when he was just trying to make stuff special for her. I know...more

This is another of those cute little stocking stuffers... but this one has convinced me to read the series... I actually really enjoyed this little story. Afterall, the main charachter and I share the same first name and our wedding destination had us leaving DIA and traveling to the same exotic location... Although for whatever reason, my biggest issue was the name exchange in the book. I guess it probably wouldn't have annoyed me so much but I like consistency in names. If you are going to cal...more

I was between books and looking for a quick cowboy fix, when I spotted this on my Kindle. Having read – and loved - the first of the Rough Riders series, I devoured this in one sitting. However, it’s slotted in much later in the series (between books 8 and 9, I think) and so I felt cross at myself for jumping ahead.

It would definitely be better read later, when I had a better idea of who the characters all are, and understand better the various subtexts and undercurrents. As such, I’m only givin...more

This is the first I have ever read of the series and I was lost. This is a story about a wedding. There are a bunch of family interactions I didn't understand because I don't know these people.

Basically the bride wants to have sex with her new husband right away and he is attempting to hold her off until the honeymoon so they can do it right. The story ends right when they go to the honeymoon site. There is foreplay in the book but it ends before they get to the main event.

I thought this was goi...more

Incredibly short, even for a freebie (it took me about a half hour to read) we join Keely McKay on her wedding day, and her new husband Jack is making her wait until they reach their honeymoon destination to have sex. Setting out to tease him and make him break, she gets in a snit when he doesn't and refuses to have sex with him when they reach Tahiti. And then she forgives him and they have sex.

I see now that this is apparently number 9.5 in a series, and I can't imagine how many you'd have to...more

So this was my first intro into the Rough Riders world and I have to admit that I really like Lorelei James's writing style. Usually I'm not into cowboy stuff. I think it's the country music that I hear when the word cowboy comes up.

Slow ride is the novella of Keely and Jack and their wedding day. I loved how determined Jack was to hold off on the lovin' till they arrived at their honeymoon destination. At the same time I loved how determined Keely was to break her new husband. The lengths that...more

Very sweet...this one in my opinion should be read immediately after All Jacked Up (it should be #8.5, not #9.5) since it could have been a second epilogue to All Jacked Up. Very good short story, entertaining, and I liked the music that was used during the wedding. Very nice freebie and addition to the Rough Riders series.

It was so good revisiting Jack and Keely in this short story which takes place after Keely and Jack says I do. A battle of wills take place between Jack and Keely because Keely wants the hard, fast and slow brand of lovin' that only her husband can give her and Jack wants their first time as husband and wife to be something special.
Since Jack and Keely are my utmost favorite couple from the Rough Riders series, I loved revisiting them and finding out that they have stayed true to their form wit...more

Im sorry but was there meant to be a purpose to this short story? Because if there was I didnt get the memo.

There wasnt even any sex! Sure keely spent the entire time and trying to get into Jacks pants. But thats all it was.

Slow Ride is a free Kindle eRead from Samhain Publishing. It is a short story that takes place between the epilogue in book eight (All Jacked Up) of the "Rough Riders" series and the second chapter of book ten (Cowgirls Don't Cry). Don't let the weird numbering bother you (or the fact that there were eight books before this one). It is an extra in the middle of the series, but you don't need to read the rest of the series to know who was who and what their relationships were to each other. Slow...more

I guess there's no harm in downloading and reading this freebie, but I didn't feel like it added anything to the Rough Riders experience. It's devoid of any hot sex scenes, doesn't really tell us anything new about Jack or Keely, and kind of diminishes any hot sexual tension by resorting to telling, rather than showing. As well, it shows Keely in a rather unflattering light, when she grumps at Jack near the end.

YMMV, but I wasn't a big fan.

I thought this was an awesome book, love the sensuality mixed with the rugged cowboy also. I am originally from Texas so it spoke to my inner desire for a rough and tumble cowboy as a mate/love of a lifetime. It is a book that has alot of detail sex wise so for those faint of heart or not into that it is not your cup of tea most likely!! Other than that, if you like romance, sensual writing, and cowboys this is the book series for you!

A bit about me: When I'm not squirreled away behind my laptop writing fun, sexy, contemporary erotic romances set in the modern day Wild West, I can be found reading everything under the sun, practicing yoga until I’m a pretzel, shootin' my .22, watching the Professional Bull Riders tour on Versus, and running a kid's taxi service, all in the guise of avoiding housework and rustlin' up vittles.
