It’s astounding to think this is the twelfth book in this series, yet it is just as solid and entertaining as the first. Although not the most spectacularly written books ever created, The Morganville Vampires series is incredibly engaging and each book full of humour, friendship and action. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the characters, from sarcastic and tough Shane to hilariously crazy Mrynin. Each and every one is memorable in some way or another and each and every character is a d...more

Black Dawn....ooooooh sounds all mysterious and dark.

I looooooove these books, don't get me wrong, but does anyone else want them all to be happy for five minutes or just get the fucking balls to run out of town for good? Or can't these kids just figure out that their town is going to hell and to just leave? I find myself feeling that sometimes, but I still love these books.

Also, I found the last book significantly creepier than the other eleven of them. Anyone? Anyone think that either? I'm ju...more

Ooops hold your horses guys possible teasers and spoilers in here....

Okay don't say I didn't warn you?!!!

Now carry on.....

Hey so I just finished reading this book I mean just now actually and I'm still having the after -effects of it.....
So let's go to my review ..there's a lot I like about this book one of those are the times when MYRNIN is clearly showing his affection for CLAIRE (don't get me wrong guys I'm still team SHANE) I'm also happy for EVE and MICHAEL they finally had their plan come...more

Everything about the Morganville vampire’s series is getting so repetitive and tiresome. This book is so similar to previous books in the series – Claire and co are in danger. Michael broods. The gang try and come up with a solution to said danger which requires them moving from A to B for some reason or another. Eve makes smart-alecky remarks. Whist moving from A to B there’s a fight with the bad guys. Michael broods some more. Claire and co think they’re dead but somehow manage to survive the...more

:Some Spoilers:

I tell myself every time I finish one of these books not to bother reviewing it since I sound like a freaken broken record. It's true, just read the 11 past reviews. But at last, I simply can't resist gushing about how un-freaken-believable this series is!

In the lastest episode, Black Dawn, Claire and the gang continue to fight off a common enemy between humans and vampires. Magnus and his hive of draugs.
Now lets just take a moment here so I can properly geek-out how badly I loved...more

Haven’t you heard? Geeks run the world now…

Black Dawn was the perfect fix for my Morganville addiction. I wait for six to seven months for each release to finally hit the shelves and when they do, I’m one of the first in line to download my eBook and hide in my room for a couple of days. This is one of the few storylines where I don’t mind if they continue indefinitely. Typically, for most series I invest in, I’m usually eager to see the final conclusion approach, but with Morganville I actuall...more

First of all I would like to give you the honor of meeting my Myrnin. Yes, I know he doesn’t exactly look like Rachel Caine intended him to, but I don’t care. Deal with it. Now bathe in his awesomeness!

Mmmmmmmmm. He is perfect.

Anyways, if you managed to read this series completely, or close to it, you might as well call yourself a Morganville fan. If you are a Morganville fan, you surely know about the vampire heaven that is http://www.morganvillevampire.com/. I personally stalk the shit out of...more

What Morganville Vampires book isn't amazing? I can't wait for this.

~Edit 2012 September~

I've always liked Morganville as I've stated above. I expected a lot from this book--maybe too much. For starters, I got the book, read the first chapter, and let it sit in a corner for weeks. It didn't interest me, in fact, it bored me. When I finally decided to pick it up again I had to tell myself "it will get better. Just keep reading and finish it." It didn't. I found the constant shift in prospective a...more

I love The Morganville Vampires series with all my heart. I've read all the books to date a few times and I only do that with absolute all-time favourites. I tend to complain when a series just goes on and on but seriously? I don't want this one to end, ever. I don't know how I can ever let go of these wonderfully developed characters and their scarily addictive story. Everything about these books just draw me in and refuses to let go. They're so incredibly gripping and entertaining. The only ba...more

"Morganville, Texas, isn't like other towns. Oh, it's small, dusty, and ordinary in most ways, but the thing is, there are these Vampires...They own the town. They run it. And until now they've been the unquestioned ruling class. "

That is until the Draug showed up.

There's a reason why after reading Twelve books in this series I'm still obsessed with it! Rachel Caine has one of the most vivid imaginations out there in the fantasy writing world. Her imagination never ceases to amaze me, how her s...more

This book picks up right after Last Breath and the action never stops. This is book 12, but there were hints that Morganville is going to go through another restructuring and the humans aren't going to like it. I hope it doesn't regress back to the first book, because I'd hate to read 12 books only to find out the trust and freedoms Claire and her friends have earned are all taken away. If Amelie and Oliver don't see just how vital Claire and the others are to the survival of the town, I'll be v...more

The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine is one of the most exciting, most inventive, and most consistently surprising YA series ever. Though I did have some issues with this latest installment, I can honestly say that even after twelve books, I hope the series never ends.

As with the previous two books in The Morganville Vampires series, BLACK DAWN isn’t told exclusively from Claire’s point of view. Half the book is Claire’s, but the other half is...more
♥ Ashleigh ♥ contrary to popular belief im not actually mad!
for the 65% of this book i couldnt get enough, but i ended up putting it down cause it was 5 in the morning and i need some sleep. it was a couple of days before i continued, im not sure why but i didnt enjoy the end of the book as much as i did the rest... i think i might of given this book 5 stars if i didnt have that break.
but because i did enjoy this book so much throughout most of it i thought 4 stars was a pretty decent rating.

Black Dawn came from multiple POV's - i loved most of these ex...more

I have never read a series with this many books and had each one of them be 4 and 5 stars! Any paranormal fan is going to want to read these books!

Black Dawn takes place right after the last book. And not only do the humans who are left in Morganville have to worry about the vampires they also have the vampires enemies to worry about too, the Draug. The vamps and humans seem to come together to try and defeat them but its a temporary truce. This book is just non stop action and you really have n...more

Wow,wow,WOW! This series just keeps getting better and better. It's been about 24hrs. since I finished this and my head is still in Morganville. Black Dawn had my heart racing,on the edge of my seat, laughing out loud, and at times my heart broken, and there was alot of swooning, I'm even more in love with Shane if that's possible.

Seriously guys if you like the Morganville series(Black Dawn is the 12th) this one does not disappoint. Not only do we get Claires POV, we also get, Shane,Eve,Oliver,Mi...more

Could this series get any more exciting? This by far is the best in the series. Full of action though out the book, lots of twists and turns that will keep you wanting more and wondering what is going to happen next. You even get to the point where you are questioning a lot of the characters and their in-tensions towards Morganville itself. There are a few deaths along the way, and the four main characters are never far from danger, as always the main ones for that is Claire and Shane but what c...more

Really kind of indifferent to this one. I think the author should have ended with 12 books as was originally intended. If that was the case this would have been the final book and I think there would have been more finality to it. Instead there will be at least 3 more books. This one seemed more forced and repetitive; filler as the author figured out how she was going to further stretch this story. It is also the first in the series that I can remember to be a continuation (as in the very next d...more

So I was looking forward to reading this book for two reasons: one, it was the first book I'd get to read in AT LEAST a month. I kid you not. Two, it's Rachel Caine. And Morganville. After her last book upped the notch even further, I awaited this book with eager anticipation. It didn't disappoint.

Rachel Caine has a rare talent with her ability to make a series this long, yet one that never fails to keep you reading in suspense. Black Dawn is action-packed, filled with fast-paced scenes...more

I really & truly have NO idea how Rachel Caine can continue churning out these fantastic Morganville books whilst keeping them interesting-BUT SHE DOES IT EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Black Dawn is mainly about the Morganville residents (vamps & humans alike) fight against the Draug. It's fast-paced, action-packed with all our favourite characters. I teared up a few times with the Shane situation but you will have to read it to find out!
I very highly recommend this whole series to any reader tha...more

"It would have been better if he'd screamed.

Michael Glass didn't scream. Instead, he made a terrible keening noise in the back of his throat, arched his back, and began to flail violently inside his zipped-up sleeping bag. Fabric shredded under vampire strength, and insulation bulged out of the tears as he fought his way free, but even once it was off him he just kept… flailing."

Those draug are freaky scary. So scary even the vamps are terrified. I was surprised to see Myrnin at the forefront of a lot of this. He made plans while everyone else was freaking the fuck out. I was so proud of him. Even though he did things that further strained Claire's trust in him. I really hate it when she's nasty to him. He'd do just about anything for her, but if it involves sacrificing Shane, she'll never forgive him for it. Mrynin doesn't like Shane. Everyone knows that. But honestly,...more

Every time I close one of these books, I am amazed at how Rachel Caine keeps it as fresh as the last. After 12 books, I am just as in love with Morganville as I was when I first cracked open Glass Houses. So much in love that once I am finished Insurgent, I am going to re-read this series from the beginning.

I loved it, I really can't say much more than that. Shane delivered as always with his witty lines, he had me laughing on my couch so much! I love these characters with all my heart, I love t...more

I have been with this series from nearly the beginning. I got into it around book 4 and was hooked ever since. I love all of these characters so much that I can't bare to see it end. Ever. Even if it jumps the shark (some say it has but I don't think so) I want it to continue on. I've read it for so long these characters have become a part of me. That said, I'm going to try really hard not to give away any spoilers so forgive me if this is a little vague in parts.

Last Breath, the previous book in the Morganville Vampire series was absolutely thrilling so I was dying to get my hands on Black Dawn. As ever, this latest instalment was just as brilliant and crazy as I could have hoped for.

The major plotline was of course the draug and overcoming the huge threat they posed to Morganville and its beloved inhabitants. I thought that the draug were a refreshing change to the usual vampire-dominated story lines. It was nice to finally see the vampir...more
