What would you do if you found yourself trapped in a movie rental store at ten o’clock at night? Just you and a one prank-calling psycho right out of a B-Grade horror movie.Fifteen-year-old Stacey has just started working part-time in the Video Saloon, a run down, cruddy old video store. She needs the money, as her widowed father is finding it increasingly difficult to cope at home and work. She also finds herself involved in a pirated DVD ring where it’s easy to get in, but not so easy to get out. The ring leader wants revenge, but Stacey discovers revenge can work both ways…
Stacey takes a job at the video store as her dad is in a slump since his wife (her mom) passed away and he is now depressed. He can't seem to face life right now and to help make ends meet Stacey takes a job to help with the finances and it also help her escape life at home. But what's happening in the basement at the video store has Stacey testing her ethics and is haunting her. Should she continue to help her father or fight the evil that is now haunting her dreams? Stacey friends and her father offer support but it is her stubborn nature that Stacey might now confront. When all was said and done, I liked the idea behind this novel but I thought it was drawn out and wordy. The characters seemed to be going no where sometimes and I just wanted to speed up the pace. The father should have been more of a "bum" or a prominent character in this book to make it work, this is just my opinion.
