Something Wicked...

Maia Frasier thought she'd escaped the world of troubleshooters and demons when she'd ceded her magical powers years earlier. Now a wounded enforcer has turned up in her home, claiming Maia's sister is in danger.

Creed Blackwood needs Maia's help to hunt the demon he's after, especially since he's hiding the fact that his powers are becoming erratic. And

Paranormal Romance
The hero shows up injured to the heroines house and though she's been stripped o her powers and no longer a troubleshooter, she's obliged to help him. He's slowly loosing himself to the dark side and this manifests in the number of times he's had the overwhelming urge to kill her sister. His no nonsense attitude and absolute zero tolerance for the heroine pity act was refreshing and it was charming how he took to calling her angel. Other than that, however, I didn't feel the chemistry between th ...more

This book is definitely PNR, but rather than vampires or werewolves, it's about a magical community called Gineal and the demons they hunt.

Maia is a Gineal who gave up her magical powers 7 years ago when she realized that she was turning into a "Dark" user. Without warning, and with almost no contact from the society in those seven years, a Gineal troubleshooter turns up on her doorstep needing her assistance to track down a demon from her past.

I bought this book b/c I loved the Jarved 9 series

In this sequel to In the Midnight Hour, Patti O’Shea once again crafts a world within our own normal world. This paranormal supposes that everything is not as it seems. Demons roam the streets but thanks to the Gineals (humans with paranormal powers), ordinary humans (or outsiders) are safe...

I love this book. After the magic (no pun intended) the author created between Deke and Ryne, I was fully prepared to be disappointed by Maia the Martyr. But that wasn't what happened at all; Maia revealed herself to be stronger than I ever imagined, a heroine I can admire, who deals with her flurry of emotions-- guilt, shame, resentment, fear-- in a way that feels real and genuine. From the opening scenes, the author had me hooked-- I couldn't put it down!

I picked this book up with little hope, but thought what the heck. After reading the Proglogue, I really didn't think I was going to like this book...BUT I loved it. Maia Frasier and Creed Blackwood have great chemistry, have issues to deal with and emotional baggage. The story was well written and kept me turning the pages. The down side is now I will be reading the 1st book second, but it will be worth it.
I have to say that I enjoyed this book. I read the first book in the series last year -- discovering it when TOR was giving away a book every week -- and was very glad to see that this sequel was available for the Kindle. This is one of six books I read while I was traveling from May 5th through 12th.
