Ms. Ebner has created a brilliant story with strong characters that tug at your heart.
While this has fantasy elements, the real story is Sam's journey to happiness, acceptance and ultimately, peace. She has a fire within her, and it burns, good or bad, with her emotions, and even though she is shunned by even her own father, she finds acceptance with two others, a teacher and a mysterious boy, that the town as a whole has labeled as odd and one not to closely associate with.

i LOVED this book. Ladybird Ladybird was one of the best one book series books i have ever read. In this book Samantha to go through hell in order to fint in. Sam was born on a full moon and her mother dies as she was being born. What Samantha has is a gift and a curse. Though her mother is dead she still communicates with her. Sams dad is a very abusive one and blames her for he mothers death. Sam's mother send her a key that goes to a box she keeps under her bed. When she opens it a gift or "a...more
First of all, I am always willing to try a new author or a new genre. After getting this book for free, it sat in my kindle for a long time....a few days ago, I had some free time and a kindle full (yes, full....no more room in the inn for any new books) so I had to start reading. After the first 3 books (all of which were a major disappointment) I released a big sigh, and started Ladybird not expecting a whole lot of anything. I was wrong. Sam's story grabbed me from page one and didn't release...more
4.5 Stars..
Ladybird, Ladybird is nothing like what I expected. But that doesn't mean it still wasn't a beautifully written story that I loved. What first drew me to Ladybird, Ladybird was the title because, well, in case you couldn't tell (sarcasm lol), I am obsessed with ladybugs, then I watched the trailer and knew I needed to read this book as soon as possible! I really had no clue where the story was going to take me, especially since I was expecting something completely different.

That cover is so pretty!
This was a short, interesting read. The main character Samantha’s mother dies during childbirth. She’s basically an outcast in the town where she lives and her father is abusive and blames her for her mothers death. Samantha keeps to herself and spends her time communicating with her mothers ghost. Then, one day she meets Leith. They become friends and Sam finally has someone to talk to. However, Leith has problems of his own and things in Samantha’s life begin to shift a...more

One of the things I love most about author Abra Ebner is that she isn't afraid of thinking outside the box. I love that she creates fresh, original stories, and just when you think you know where it's heading she has an unthinkable twist waiting. This is just one reason that she is on my favorite authors list. LADYBIRD drew me in and refused to let go until I had read every page. Th...more

Abra has taken words and layed them so gracefully onto the page, you just can't help falling in love with this novella. Dare I say more?
Breathtakingly beautiful, pure and simple.
Samantha lives with her father who resents her. As her mother was giving birth, she died in the process, leaving Samantha's father cold-hearted towards her. Abusive and hateful towards Samantha, she is so strong-willed, she doesn't let it get her down. Maybe it's because she knows her mother loves her so much that she ha...more

Cute little story.
This book was beautifully written, Ebner is a mesmorizing author. I was just held captive by Leith to the same extent Samantha was. I loved the storyline and hopeful ending. Ebner should write more books! I'm hooked. Since this book had a prominent subject on ladybugs, I have no choice but to love the species now. ;) Oh, and it's Ladybirds not ladybugs. It sounds more elegant. =)
3.5 stars. I enjoyed this but I think it would have been better if it had been a little longer.

"It is more than probable that I am not understood; but I fear, indeed, that it is in no manner possible to convey to the mind of the merely general reader, an adequate idea of that nervous intensity of interest with which, in my case, the powers of meditation (not to speak technically) busied and buried themselves, in the contemplation of even the most ordinary objects of the universe." - Edagr A...more
