As a Christian, I've always been aware that it's our duty to protect the beautiful gifts that we have been given in nature, and this was brought home to me very poignantly when seeing firsthand the damage done by the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. That incident made me more firmly resolve to do whatever I could to take a more active part in being a wise steward of the earth's resources. In the Christian community in particular, I believe that there is not much encouragement for individ ...more

I was excited to be given this book to review because of the valuable lesson of recycle-reuse-renew, something I’m already teaching my children who are 7, 9, and 12 years old. We read the book together, marveling at the soft, bright colors the artist chose. We especially liked that the brother and sister were working together to care for their environment. We all appreciated the tips for conservation, and agreed that it is our job to care for the world around us, but all of us struggled with som ...more
Care for Creation, written by Christy Baldwin, is a delightfully illustrated book for young children. Timely in topic, the book shares what everyone can do to help care for God's creation supported by Scripture passages. Though not a book specifically written for Catholic children (Scripture is quoted from the NIV & The Message Bible translations), the message is a decidedly Christian one: God created the earth for all of us, and in doing so, we are left with the responsibility to care for i ...more
Do you teach your children to care for our land? Do you teach them to recycle, to help keep their community clean and to use chemical free cleaning products? This is what Care for Creation is about, teaching young readers the responsibility in keeping our world an environmentally safe place to live. This book is full of ideas and tips to help us do a better job of taking care of our earth. At the end of the book, there are discussion questions to understand better how to do this as well as sugge ...more
I thought this was a sweet book with a really important message that our children need to hear, learn from and follow. Each page explains a reason why the environment is important and how we can do out part to keep it clean and unpolluted. Along with that is an accompanying verse from the Bible. That verse shows children what God said about our environment, animals, living cleanly, etc. It is not preachy in any way but very thoughtful and sweet.

I especially liked the pictures. I can't give a rea

This book is a beautifully illustrated way to introduce your children to not only the bible, but ways to improve their daily living.
I thought it is a great tool for showing the kids how they should help take care of the planet and everything in it. This would be ideal in Sunday Schools or even religion classes at Catholic schools.
Definitely a great read for our children.
