This is not the usual basic presentation skills book. Far from it. Arnold encourages readers to step outside the role of the speaker as an authority figure who controls the audience from the front of the room, to someone who passionately participates in an event that is enjoyed by the audience as a collaborative experience. Rather than speaking at an audience you should have a conversation that engages and connects with them. This tracks the move from Web 1.0 (carefully controlled content delive ...more

This is a fantastic book about spicing up presentations and will be on my list of go-to books in the future! It is written where it feels like you are actually attending an exciting class on the subject. It feels as if you are going through copious excercises that strengten your presentation muscles and challenge the status quo. Nothing is earth shattering or exceptionally new; but it does direct you find ways to connect with your audience and adjust both your content and style to their needs.

All the tips you need for better public speaking are in this book. It lacks any sense of an overarching theory or approach to public speaking that would get you to think differently about the field, but as a primer for beginning -- and even advanced -- speakers, this is unmatched.

This will come in handy for a review prior to a presentation or speech. It contains tips and ideas that can be easily implemented, but would make a huge difference. However, a significant portion of the book addresses being a facilitator, which is a less common role for most people.

Great compilation of presentation techniques if you are running workshops. Which I am. Going to make some changes because of it.

Great book on public speaking! This will really help me give a stellar presentation next week.
Excellent book. It is on my list to add this book to my 'physical' bookshelf.
