***maybe some spoilers***

I haven't read an Alien Huntress book since, well since the last one. (lol, no really, though it's been since Bride's book came out, so a while now).

I was soo excited to get back into this world!

I read the story in Deep Kiss of Winter as my intro to the AH world, and I really liked it, so I borrowed the first couple from a friend and found out I REALLY liked the series. When I saw this one at the store, I went nuts, seriously jumping up and down and making a complete ass...more

This book was absolutely hilarious. I giggled so many times while reading that my husband started giving me odd looks. The funniest parts usually revolved around Ava and Noelle and involved them sniping at each other. They were the type of best friends that seemed like blood enemies to the casual observer. Poor McKell made the mistake of trying to insert himself into that situation, not realizing that just because they can criticize each other doesn’t mean that they’ll let anyone else d...more

Ladies, it's official! I am now a huge fan of the Alien Huntress series and I can actually say I like it better than Lords of the Underworld. *cue gasps*

I love the novelty of this paranormal world. There's aliens, of all types, and some sort of an alien invasion that the AIR agents are dealing with, by a particular alien species called Schon. They are sex aliens, basically succubi/incubi that need sex to survive, but when they have sex they inf...more

Gena Showalter’s Ecstasy in Darkness rates high on both the smut and the paranormal charts… which is a win-win for me. It’s book 5 (or 7 if you count the two YA stories) in the Alien Huntress Series. And it features vampire badass McKell, who we met in the last book Seduce the Darkness. He is still pretty bummed out about losing his fated Bride and is now facing life exiled from his people. His heroine, the young Ava, is an agent in training for the Alien Investigation Removal (AIR) agency and i...more

Loved this story, McKell was so hot! Talk about alpha male. He was so clueless at times that it funny. I almost felt sorry for him. But then he would open his mouth . This was a great book and I have to say that I truly enjoyed Ava and Noelle's comedy hour. I mean I couldn't get enough of the best friends. They were so damn funny. I wanted more. Thankfully Noelle's book is next with Hector and man I have been so curious about him. This book left me wondering what will happen next. I know the dan...more

Gena Showalter is a really good author. Really good. I like her. I like all of her books, and all of the series I have read. But for some reason, she has never made the jump for me to the must-have-right-now-or-I-will-hurt-someone level like Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh, or Christine Feehan. I don't actually know why, but every time I finish one of her books, I am for some reason surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This one was no exception.

Now, I should qualify and say that while I am a fan of th...more

This was my first book in the Alien Huntress series, and I have to say I was so pleased I wasn't lost. It was a wonderful treat for me. A strong, sexy Alpha hero who wants the strong, independent heroine with every bone in his body. While not knowing where things are going with them takes this book on a joyride. To top it all off , the love scenes were so steamy.

Ava Sans and Noelle Tremain are the best of friends who are trying to move up in the ranks of Alien Investigation Removal (AIR). Final...more

I had so much fun reading this latest by Gena Showalter, that Ecstasy in Darkness maybe my favorite Alien Huntress book to date. A great snarky, yet vulnerable heroine and an alpha dominate hero who wants the heroine with every sense of his being, while not knowing where he stands with her, makes for some great reading. And let’s not forget that that love scenes are steamy and just too good for words.

Alien Investigation Removal (AIR) trainees Ava Sans and Noelle Tremain are the best of friends....more

I love it when dangerous men become mush for their heroines, and leading men don't come much more dangerous than exhiled vampire warrior Viktor McKell. But even though McKell has the power to stop time and wears the finger bones of past opponents as a necklace, McKell is going to wonder what hit him when AIR agent in training Ava and her Best-Friend-Forever Noelle are given the job of bringing McKell in for questioning.

While McKell is never going to be a white hat kind of guy, the fact that he e...more

When ever people go to the animal shelter, they see the cute puppies and cuddly kittens and go "Awwwww,I want that one." Not me, I want the older animals, one that growls and hisses, but has a certain look in his eye that pleads "Please see through this, take me home and I will love you forever" That was McKell and Ava to a tee. Although McKell was far from a beat up old tom cat, he was a hardened warrior who had been betrayed by all he knew. He was also fiiiiiiine like fancy wine.
Ava was his pe...more

I guess it's time to admit this series has become one of the most entertaining urban fantasy series I had the privilege to read. It didn't start that way though, I will admit the first books weren't as smooth and catching as this last installments have been, but I'm definitely hooked now!

What a funny pair this 2 girlfriends were: Ava and Noelle. I can't remember the last time I had such a great time reading about the most crazy adventures 2 friends can have. I'm getting so attached to this serie...more

3.5 stars. This was a good book but I didn't enjoy it as much as the others. Ava bothered me throughout the book a bit but she wasn't terrible. McKell was arrogant but in a very funny way.

Depsite my misgivings while reading this story the ending was great and didn't go the direction I thought. Which I was happy about it. Although the ending was a bit abrupt I still liked it.

This book just didn't have that angst and drama I really liked about Savor Me Slowly. Still this was a good read and it d...more

Super Frickin WOW!!!!

My favourite in this series by far, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!

Ava and Noelle, best friends and so God Dammed Funny, had me roaring through the pages and McKell, whom we have met before, is even funnier!!!! I laughed so much with this story and I was captivated by the mystery too.

Some things I kinda worked out but others, WoW!!!

For all I love AIR, I love these characters, this is my favourite book - my new favourite character is Hellina - and what a character this one is... Can't s...more

Where to start? For the most part, I absolutely loved this one. McKell was quite the awesome hero, because of his superiority complex and complete disregard of everything that wasn't about him (and later the heroine). There's something about that kind of arrogance that can be quite charming, and McKell was oozing with it. I mean, how can't you love a hero who wears a necklace of fingerbones?

But the true star of the book was Ava, and most of all her relationship with Noelle. They were truly aweso...more

First I must say that this book has one smokin hot cover. Besides that, as I expected this book was amazing. Gena Showalter knows how to deliver a story packed with conflict and sex appeal. The love scenes were written to perfection with just the right amount of heat without going overboard. Another thing I loved about this book is the humor, especially Ava and Noelle's banter. They have a unique friendship where they can basically verbally bash each other and not get mad...it is pretty hilariou...more

Overall the story was great, although the Schon queen was really irritating. What really hampered my enjoyment of this however, was the heroine Ava. Recently I've loved all of Gena's heroines (although it took me a while to warm up to Danika), but Ava was just so unlikeable (and I'm obviously in the minority here).

Mia described McKell as being "unstable" and "psychotic" but TBQH, he exhibited similar (read: normal) behaviour to all the other vampires in books I've read. Ava was the "unstable" an...more

Book Rating: ★★★
Read the series? Probably, I got the next
installment but I'm not sure I'd read them all.

I'm going to sum up my review nice and quick-ish because no one reads these anyways but myself.

This book was a solid read. I really enjoyed the relationship between Noelle and Ava even though it dwindled as the book progresses and the steamy-ish chemistry between McKell and Ava.

McKell wasn't quite what I expected for some reason. He was a bit more...more

I loved the Ava and Noelle. They had the banter and relationship of two frat boys that had been friends since birth. The readers meet McKell in the previous book. He was the vampire who had the prearranged marriage with Bride. That did not work out; due to him trying to keep her alive he has been kicked out of the underground vampire world. AIR is not happy with McKell because he is keeping them from bringing him in so they may test his blood to see if he is the cure for the Schoen disease. Ava...more

When streetwise Ana Sans and her BFF Noelle go out on a mission for AIR(Alien Investigation and Removal) organization, it is as trainees hoping to impress their tough as nails senior. The vampire they need to question has attitude to spare and he HATES everyone! Until he gets a whiff of Ava, to him she smell like butterscotch and warm woman and though the two women make completely enticing, erotic spectacles of themselves he keeps himself aloof. Oh who are we kidding. He wants Ava. Even though s...more

5 stars for the story and narration! This was my first, but certainly not my last, Gena Showalter title. Made me remember why I used to love paranormal/urban fantasy romances so much! Review coming soon at AudioGals.

I love the interactions between Ava, McKell and Noelle. The smartassiness is great.

Too many typos, stilted language, superficial characters, wacky plot.

If you're going to have a sexy man on the cover with a whip, he better use it in the damn book. McKell seemed sexy, smart, and powerful, yet at times I felt like he was a complete idiot for all that he put up with in regards to Ava.

Ava Shot McKell and stunned him twice and he does nothing about it. In addition, she was a complete bitch to him for about 80% of the book. There was barely any sex in the book and I don't even feel like there was a growing relationship with the two main characters ei...more

Keep in mind that this is an adult book, and there are explicit details!
So you weren't wanting the aid of another man?"
"No." She could barely handle McKell.
"Then I won't spank you."
McKell... spanking her... Someone get this man a paddle.
Ecstasy in Darkness is the 5th and my favorite book in the Alien Huntress series.
