I've been following this series from the get go. I love these guys, but I got a few books behind, so I'm catching up.

I love the mystery, the cop stories, I love Savich and Sherlock.

As a health coach I don't love the misguided, if not completely WRONG nutritional asides that get tossed in, but hey, I can't coach a fictional character. We all have our neurosis.

I'm not sure why the woo got mixed into this series. I'm a bit tired of the woo. I like my crime-drama-suspense-with-a-dash-of-romance j...more

This is my first introduction to Catherine Coulter. Apparently her characters Savich and Sherlock have appeared in previous books. The main good guys are four FBI agents including married agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock. They are joined by agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight.

The book has three plotlines. The main crime involves a serial killer on the loose. I was pleasantly surprised at who the serial killer turned out to be. I love surprises like that. Nice twist.

Subplots include a...more

Very good book of mystery, murder and FBI agents to solve the crimes. I will continue to read the books written by this author who does not resort to foul language to get the point across. The worst word in this book was not offensive to me and sex was not written in minute detail. If she can write books this great without the use of foul language and explicit sex so can others.
I recommend this book to all mystery lovers.
There are acutally 3 mysteries to solve in this story. The first one involv...more

Catherine Coulter's is one of my favorite authors’. I love her FBI Suspense Thrillers. This book Split second was my least favorite of all the books I’ve read of hers. I thought the story line was farfetched. I do have to say it was creative. I did enjoy reading about Sherlock, and Savich, and Coop, and Lucy. The Maze which was the 1st book in this series got me hooked into Catherine Coulter’s FBI Thriller series. I would recommend it f you like action and Romance.

This is another of Catherine Coulter's FBI series featuring Savich and Sherlock. This book has a lot of mystery, suspense and unbelievable stuff in it, but its still a good book! There's 2 story lines,,, one with a female serial killer, the daughter of Ted Bundy. I think this would have been better w/o a real person mixed in the story. Ive heard of Ted Bundy, but dont know if the story in the book are factual to the real person. I sort of got bored w/that! Guess I was trying to remember the actu...more

Enjoyed this book since it has plently of action and enough sub plots to keep you guessing. Savich and Sherlock still have the necessary magic between them to keep you invested in them. Each story line is brought to its conclusion by the end of the book. I did not lose interest mid way the book as I have done in some other books I have read. That said.... there could have been a lot more sizzle between Coop and Lucy. Coop was a very likable character that you would not mind knowing. He knows his...more

There are three story lines presented in the newest book by Catherine Coulter. The first appears on page one, and isn’t resolved until nearly the final page in the book: The owner of a small convenience store in Washington, D.C. is nearly killed late one night in an apparent robbery gone wrong, the latter not having counted on FBI Agent Dillon Savitch being the customer in the shop at the time. When the same man is shot in another incident shortly thereafter, leaving him seriously wounded, it wo...more

A serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock to bring him down. They soon discover that the killer has blood ties to the infamous and now long-dead monster Ted Bundy. Savich and Sherlock are joined by agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight, and the chase is on.

At the same time, Agent Carlyle learns from her dying father that her grandfather didn't simply walk away from his family twenty-two years ago: he was, in fact, murdered by his wife, Lucy's g...more

Split Second is another FBI thriller in the Savich and Sherlock series. To be honest I was fearful to read this book. I was a little disappointed with Coulter's last book, Whiplash, and didn't want to read another book where Savich talks to a ghost or hones in more on his ESP. I was delighted to find that this story was not to be the same. Split Second has 3 sub-plots that take you on an exciting roller coaster not knowing which turn is coming up next. I loved it!

Split Second by Catherine Coulter is a landslide of suspense and heart stopping complications. Program 911 into your speed-dial as Coulter reveals an astounding and frightening FBI thriller where the action may be right outside your door.

Scattered over the US woman are getting murdered. Ted Bundy did it before and the FBI came out the winner. Agents Cooper McKnight and Lucy Carlyle have their doubts on who will win this new game.

Ted Bundy has a daughter, Kerstin. She murders women and enjoys i...more

Ms. Coulter has a knack for drawing the reader in from the first page. You get invested in each character and don't want the story to end, or at least, that's my reaction. The beauty of a series is that the story continues, in some fashion, from book to book. Because I like this series so much, I was somewhat hesitant to read this one. I was a little disappointed with Coulter's last book, "Whiplash", and also with several of the books prior to it. They seemed a little stale, as if she was workin...more

Ever read a book from a favored author and found that it wasn’t the best you’d ever read? Did you feel let down? Or just glad that the series was moved along with another book? Well, I’ve had such an experience with Split Second, the latest installment of Catherine Coulter’s FBI series. Rationale and the Law of Averages suggest that I can’t have an awesome book every time, but I still have hope with each new printing. The idea of the book was great and I was caught immediately in the chase of th...more

Ok, I read this in a day. That means I was interested enough (and in the mood) to set other things aside and read.

That said, this was not one of Ms. Coulter's best books. Contrary to a couple other opinions, I liked that there were several stories going on at once. It surely kept things interesting, and actually felt more real, since that is what happens in life. (And yes, I know, this is fiction, not real life.)

I liked that everything gets wrapped up nicely. I didn't care for the "magic" ring....more

Really loved this thriller that focused on Kirsten, a young woman who finds out at age 25 she is the daughter of Ted Bundy. As a result, she feels it explains her behavior over the years and why she has follwed in his footsteps as a killer. Savich and Sherlock are on the case which takes tons of twists and turns. There are also 2 other plots happening with 2 other FBI agents, Lucy and Cooper. Lucy's father dies and she learns of several family secrets that lead to heartbreak for her family. In t...more

I have mixed feelings about this novel, I liked it and disliked it at the same time. It started off with the FBI tracking a serial killer from San Francisco that was drugging and killing women picked up in bars. At first the killer was thought to be a man but it was soon discovered to be a woman, Ted Bundy's daughter no less. And so the chase for a madwoman began.
First of all, I felt as though there was too much going on in this book. There were three seperate story lines going on, the main st...more

I have been following this series since the beginning so I was quite excited to have the opportunity to read and review this book. In book 15, we have a hair-raising thriller and two baffling mysteries to solve. Sherlock and Savich are back once again to find a serial killer whose DNA links to the one and only Ted Bundy. Mr. Patil, an owner of a convenience store constantly finds himself in danger and Savich doesn't believe in coincidences. Lastly, Lucy Carlyle must solve a mystery that hits clo...more

Split Second is a peculiar mixture of mystery fiction and fantasy. Where this can be an interesting combination this story soon became confusing in that the plots didn't intertwine but circled around each other. At times it was hard to keep up with where I was, and even more disconcerting was the constantly changing point of view. Split Second seems to be written in the omnipresent voice, which is usually okay when there's a distinction over which character is which. Not so the case here. Point...more

4 1/2 stars. A thrilling installment in the series that features the charismatic Savich and Sherlock as well as the other fascinating agents working out of their branch of the FBI. An eerie link to Ted Bundy causes the agents to puzzle over the trail of a serial killer just as Agent Lucy Carlyle is dealing with the sudden loss of her father. Lucy is paired with the attractive Cooper McKnight despite her mistrust of his playboy reputation but finds that he becomes an essential bulwark as she foll...more

My Review:
Reviewing this book makes me sad. I was sent an ARC of this book by the publisher in return for an honest review. Honest is the key work there, but I hate it when I don't enjoy a book and have to give it a bad review. I used to read Catherine Coulter and always loved her books, but this one was just not a book that I could enjoy.

I would classify this book as a suspense. The main story line is about 4 FBI agents: Savich & Sher...more

My favorite thing about reading a Catherine Coulter book is her ability to put words together that create vivid pictures. She knows how to strike a chord in the reader's imagination. I appreciate the way that she crafts her sentences and creates continuity for her characters. She involves passion, danger, suspense, and the ugliness of humanity without leaving the reader covered in slime. It's always cleaned up with the innocence of the children, humor and the satisfaction of another well-deserve...more

Enjoyed this novel. This is the first book I've read by Catherine Coulter, it was an "Oh,No, I don't have a backup book to read".
I was unaware that this was a book in a series, I thought it was a stand alone. This can be read as a stand Alone but I fell in love with the characters. A series I'll most surely add to my collection of series.
Many of the Goodreads reviews were a little harsh on the writer for bringing an infamous serial killers questionable daughter into the book. And also criticis...more

I have enjoyed all of Ms. Coulter's FBI Thrillers, but this one and the most recent "Backfire" seem pretty tired and forced. She just doesn't seem to be able to escape her romance novel mind-set and her plots are pretty ridiculous (Ted Bundy's daughter?! Give me a break!).

Also, these two books have almost the exact same little romance/sex sub-plot, except the couples have different names. Also, the description of the fawning admiration of Sherlock and Savich gets to be a bit much as it is menti...more

there is a serial killer on the loose, and it is up to FBI agents Dillion Savich and this wife Lacey Sherlock to bring him down.
after setting up a task force they realize it is not a man but a woman and she is related to the deadliest monster whom is dead. Will she kill again, is she as good as her father( whom she never met).
Savich puts 2 of his best agents on the case and Lucy Carlyle cannot stand Cooper McKnight, after all the rumours going around,Savich thinks that is the only way they wil...more

I've missed a good thrilling FBI story. This one had all the action and intrigue with a dash of magic thrown in. I usually find that when stories throw in magic in the midst of what is a very modern setting it just doesn't settle well with me. But here, it just made it even more intriguing and mysterious. There was a helluva lot going on, 3 stories woven into 1 really; and it all seemed to culminate into one big rush of events towards the end.

Bottom line: I enjoyed it. Dillon and Sherlock yet ag...more

Split Second by Catherine Coulter is part of the Savich/Sherlock FBI's ongoing series. Anytime a new Savich/Sherlock book comes out, I have to have it, and Split Second doesn't let you down.
Lucy Carlyle is a determined young FBI agent that is forced to team with 'playboy' Cooper McKnight; a job she doesn't relish.
The death of her beloved father sends Lucy's world in a tail spin. A seriel killer with a famous, or infamous, bloodline, a strange gift from a grandfather that disappeared when she w...more

OK, I admit it, I read the FBI series. Usually they're ok as "escape" reading. Lately though, I am wondering if Coulter has just been phoning them in. The more recent books, this one included, are not nearly as good as the first two or three in the series. After reading this one, my initial reaction was "Really?! That's several hours of my life I won't get back." Psychic Savage?! C'mon. The premise of the family history of the killer in this one is just too ridiculous to take seriously, even for...more

Preposterous. A thriller, science fiction, serial killer, romance novel.

I'm one of the 5% that did not like this book. I have a hard time understanding why anyone would like it. No real characters, just stereotypes. No real adventure or excitement.

SPOILER ALERT - How can you get into a book in which the female FBI agent is needy and independent at the same time; where her dying father spurts out with his last breath, "Mother, what did you do to Father(the above woman's Grandfather)?"; where a se...more

I sometimes look up this author if I want a quick read that includes a mystery/action feel, kind of like a Law and Order or other crime shows within a book. However, she sometimes throws in some supernatural aspects that I don't really gel with. Hard to reconcile all of that in one book, especially when my purpose is to just relax with an action book. She also tends to throw some romance in, and I accept it, but not really get into it. Not all that believable. I would rather the book focused on...more

This is the first book i have read by this author, but I will be looking into reading more if this is an indication of her style. The story seemed at first to be a typical murder mystery with interesting characters, but added a layer of something else...woven into the story line was a story within a story, and it had a touch of the supernatural which made solving it more interesting. One of the reasons I enjoy mysteries is my own desire to figure things out, and this one made for interesting pos...more

While I've always been (and will continue to be)a great fan of Coulter's FBI series, I afraid Split Second was not one of my favourites. I actually found myself skipping pages, as I just wanted to get through the book. I felt the book lacked the edge that I've come to expect in Coulter's FBI series. And the detour storyline regarding Lucy's ring...What was that about? If that was supposed to be a nod to today's ever popular paranormal literature, in my opinion, it was a dismal failure (and I LIK...more
