This is one of those stories I think I would have enjoyed more when I first started reading m/m.
I did like the idea behind the story. Seth is gay, always has been, has no doubts about it, until he meets Nicky, and is in lust. But Nicky is a girl, so understandably Seth is confused.

Now I get a little be warned.

Seth's friend Ricky sees in seconds that Nicky is a guy! Seth has talked to Nicky and lusted and didn't notice..hmm..strange. Then he finds out Nicky is a guy and

I had some reservations about this one. I really liked the concept of the story but I thought it was too empty in the beginning, if that makes sense. You go from Nicky and Seth meeting to Seth automatically loving Nicky a few weeks later and there’s no in between so you don’t know how their relationship developed and I was a little disappointed with that because I would have liked to know about those in between weeks. However, the more I read, the more I liked it especially when they went back t ...more

Why do I torture myself so?!? Meh m/m romance about a guy hiding as a woman in witness protection. The weird references to GA Hauser and her books were annoying (rather like a GA Hauser commercial) and the plot holes were classic Stormy Glenn.

I really liked the idea of this story. There was a lot of humor, but some pretty thoughtful comments and criticisms as well. The plot was more of a background device, the real focus was on the characters.

Nicky has a hard time dealing with having to be a woman, but, interestingly, not so much with the physical aspects of it, but the mental. The story focuses on the psychology of having to be someone you're not (a woman) while wanting to be someone you cannot be for now (a man) - especially when m

So I read the original book when it first came out and found it pretty blah. Many many people have written comments that basically sum up why I thought it went downhill so I'm not going to repeat that here. What I am going to say is that apparently this has been "rewritten". According to Glenn's website the book has been revised and extended...and apparently the hero's name has changed from Seth to Daniel. I'm a bit confused here as I've recently read the second book in this series about Seth. I ...more

I found some very enjoyable aspects to this story and wish the 'girl' charade had gone on a little longer and the characters been fleshed out more in the beginning.
The story is sketchy to begin with and had me questioning the police aspects to it, however, it built up well as the story continued. "My Girl" reaches much more assured ground once Nicky and Seth go back to deal with Nicky's past - loved the drag queens and enjoyed the Seth and Nicky as a couple.

When witness protection fails, Nicky moves across the country and hides as a girl. It's bad enough that his life is in danger, he has breasts, and has to leave behind his friends and family, but then he meets his hot, sexy, and gay neighbor, and can't tell him that he's really a guy.

While the GA references got old quick, and I did not get why Nicky (view spoiler), overall, I enjoyed the story. The discomfort with his own identity

this has to be the most un-gay story I ever read. He was a man but he was dressed and acting as a woman and our gay hero fell for him/her!!!!

Light story, really naive here and there.
Whether this was believable or not aside, this was okay. Would have liked more with Daniel's family. I liked them.

I wanted to read this a lot, especially after reading the blurb. I thought this could be a different sort of romance, maybe even cute. And at first it was. I liked the way the romance grew even though Nicky had to dress like a woman (for his own protection from a very dangerous threat). I even thought it was a hoot when Seth introduced Nicky to his parents as his girlfriend which really confused his parents since they knew that Seth had always been gay. It kind of threw them for a loop to have h ...more

There's absolutely nothing better to me than being challenged by the ideas presented in a book. Stormy Glenn's My Girl goes beyond the typical boy meets boy, to explore social norms and the reasons behind them. The lovely surprise is that this book is also smoldering, sexy, and in places, an outright hilarious read.

In the beginning of the book, Nicky is introduced as a beautiful woman. Seth, a confirmed gay man, finds himself captivated by the very lovely, very female Nicky. I imagined it would

i'm usually not really interested to read a book with goodreads rating lower than 3.7 stars. but i pretty like a couples of stormy glenn books, lot of its even, and the idea of the story i read in the blurb intrigue me. so i want to give this one a try. turnout this book is really suck and disappointing. i can't finish reading it, and i rarely do that even when a story is not really good. so for me this book is worse than just not really good.

When I bought this book, its concept seemed interesting and original, but it was - unfortunately - poorly executed.

First, I was disappointed by the pace of the story: it was rushed. Only after two weeks of knowing each other, Nicky's secret was out and that time wasn't even described. There was no building to the revelation.

Secondly, there were so many plot holes that it was difficult to take the story seriously. The procedural aspect of the story was a complete jock. For example, in reality,

My Girl was both fun and endearing. A bit predictable but still worth it. Definitely something to put on your list when you aren’t looking for anything too serious but want to be entertained.

Like most of her stories, the couple is together fairly quickly and have a hiccup or two, but then are solid once the misunderstanding is cleared up. The issue with Nicky’s old life is solved with a simple solution and isn’t dragged out. The story is quick and clean with a minimal amount of repetition and dr

typical Stormy Glenn serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical Stormy Glenn? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all serials by UNLESS motivated otherwise by markedly good/bad writing:

i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry.

A fun, lite read that went a little too fast. The premise of the book is really good, guy hiding out from the bad guys as a girl and meets his dream man. The story just seemed to go fast you never really got much depth from the characters. There was also the insta-love which in this case just wasn't as believable. I still enjoyed the story and it was a uncomplicated, fast read leaving me with a warm happy feeling:)

I was slightly disappointed because I'm a huge drag queen fan so I gobble up drag queen books. However this did feature a guy dressing up as a girl, it wasn't a drag queen book. The guy didn't even like dressing up as a girl, didn't enjoy tricking ppl at all. So, while I really did enjoy the book, I wish it been about an actual drag queen. Just saying. lol

I want to give it at least 4 stars for the cute couple, especially because I like genderbender stories. But this novel has too many repeated dialogue and fast pace. Also, the not-so-smart tactics to catch the bad guy.... You actually only want to write Nicky dancing, did't you, Mrs. Glenn? ^^;
Btw, Seth's parent's are very cool :D

First Stormy Glenn book I didn't finish. Stormy Glenn's my guilty pleasure, so normally I rate her fairly well. But this book just didn't do it for me at all. Implausible, unlikely, moved from scene to scene abruptly. The characters didn't interest me at all. Just... not good.
