LOVE this book! Die For Me was one of my most anticipated reads of 2011, after hearing good things from a friend (~waves to Olivia~) who read it early in the publishing stage. So as you can imagine I had high expectations and I can happily say they were exceeded.

I don't really have strong feelings about this book, but I'm leaning more towards "disliked." With that in mind though, there weren't any characters I hated, I thought the general premise for the story was clever and different, and I didn't find that Plum overused clichés or metaphors too often. Ultimately where this novel turned sour for me was the romance. I won't discount the fact that people, both young and old, can fall irrevocably in love in a short period of time. The ability to

Die For Me certainly belonged to my list of most anticipated books of 2011. And although it didn’t disappoint completely, I have to say that it didn’t really wow me either. I’m thinking that the paranormal genre isn’t for me anymore. Maybe I’ve become too nitpicky, or the books have become a bit too melodramatic for my taste, but I have decided to just stick to contemporary and other fantasy for a while now …

I only had to glimpse at the beautiful cover to know I had to read this book. I didn't care what it was about. I mean, look at it! I can say that I was not disappointed by what was inside either. It's fun and romantic, with a gorgeous setting.
The setting. It took my breath away. Set in beautiful Paris, France, we not only get a tour of the city, but we learn and experience the culture as well. It was stunning. I have never been, but I could picture myself in the streets alongside the More...

After the death of their parents, Kate and Georgia move to Paris to be with there grandparents. It's been really hard on Kate and she can't seem to move past her parents absence but Georgia convinces her to get out there, meet people and live, it's what their parents would have wanted.
Sitting in a cafe, Kate looks up to see a very gorgeous guy sitting at a table, staring at her. For a moment it seems like Kate knew him, but she also sense something different and mysterious about him, some More...

They say you can never judge a book by its cover however this book is beautiful inside out. I became sucked into Die for Me within the first chapter. It was quite unusual for me as it usually takes close to 100 pages to become glued. What I enjoyed most about this book was not knowing what to expect or being able to predict what would happen next. Simply, it was refreshing.
It was fun to read about Paris. I have always dreamed of "the city of lights" being oh so roman More...

FIVE BRIGHT and SHINEY STARS!!!
Die for Me will definitely be going on my "favourites" shelf. I absolutely ADORED this book!! This addictive story had all the elements that I look for in a favourite novel: smart and relatable protagonist, very-near-perfect *cough* HOT love interest, wonderfully executed story, great supporting characters, awesome setting (PARIS!!), and a new and interesting mythology, which was very refreshing. It had it all!

Oh my, this week really has not been a great one for me reading - wise. I was ecstatic to read Die For Me. Sure there was a lot of hype surrounding it, but most importantly I had read many gushing reviews which lead me to believe it would be satisfying at least.
I suppose I can start of with admitting that it is a "little" different regarding the setting of the book which instantly creates a very enticing and vivid picture of a place that I have been eagerly wanting to go fo More...

Oh, beautiful cover--you've lured me in once again! Die for Me is somewhere between 2 and 2.5 stars for me.
What I liked about the book:
* The paranormal set-up is a fairly original/unusual one. Vincent and his friends are revenants, undead guardians who help to save humans from potential danger. Their enemies are numas, who are undead evil-doers who try their best to lure humans to their deaths through various different methods.

At first, I just picked up this book thinking, "meh, it's not going to be awesome" and just use it as one of those books that I read to tide me over until the really exciting ones come out.
But, man, was I proved wrong. Brava, Amy Plum, brava.
This book was everything I thought it wouldn't be. It had love, and not the kind that makes me want to strangle the characters like many other YA novels (gasp!), action, and left me breathless at points to where I have gone More...

ACTUAL RATING: 2.5 stars
I'll be very honest. I kicked and struggled my way through about the first 85 pages of this book. I felt like I was forcing myself to sit trough something very unpleasant a lot like this:
Plain Girl: I just moved here and I don't have any friends
Mysterious Boy: Look at that girl. I want her...but....I cant. I'll just stalk her instead
PG: whoa that guy! Who's he?
MB: I'm mysterious, I can't tell you. Tell me about YOU!
PG: I'm boring

This book is the epitome of how Twilight changed reading forever, but no one can seem to do it quite like Stephenie Meyer. Okay, we all know the main characters are "inexplicably" attracted to one another or have a "connection". She has some mysterious interactions with the dude, in which he comes off as "creepy" but she's still "not afraid" and "attracted" to him. The mysterious dark bad boy has a secret he does not want her to figure out. She f

This book is extremely hard to judge. The heroine, Kate, is your typical ‘regular girl’ heroine (re: damsel in distress – but bonus for Kate who actually has a brain!) who falls in love with your typical rich/independent ‘bad boy’ stalker hero who shows absolutely no sign of being a bad boy, doesn’t want to answer her questions for no good reason and also, for the first time in the history of ever, doesn’t want to bone her but can’t help making remarks about how beautiful and bone-worthy she rea

EDIT: Apparently, this isn't about zombies. It's actually supposed to be a good book. Once again, this review is based on the blurb. I'd appreciate it if book blurb writers stopped catering to the Twilight Crowd. Thanks.
Just when I thought it couldn't happen -- IT DID. Zombies. Good Zombies that look like chiseled Greek gods that can make out with girls. Why Harper Teen? WHY?

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Wonderful debut by Amy Plum and the Revenants series. I felt completely transported into an elegant european world, filled with art, corner cafes where to read and enjoy a cappuccino and a croissant, while mixing in a very interesting group of undead characters!

Aaw, yeah! I liked DIE FOR ME! I truly hope I haven’t turned into one of those readers who hype up every last book they read, all very squee-y and happy… and for what? A guy who is “special?” A girl who falls head over heals over said guy? A guy has a “special” family and/or special set of friends? A couple that’s so ‘effin hot? I really hope I haven’t turned into one of those!
So DIE FOR ME has all those things mentioned above, yet I am once again surprised… because I liked Amy Pl More...

After closing the book when I finished, my first thought was:
What the fuck.
It was like Twilight + Mortal Instruments + Vampire Diaries... In a bad way.
Like, I don't know, I just didn't "get" the book.
I don't even know what to say right now!
I was expecting this to be great because of all the 4/5 Stars I saw, but it really wasn't.
Maybe it's because I read this right after reading an amazing book?
Maybe I missed a whole chapter th More...

Die for Me is another YA with a gorgeous cover that doesn't quite make up for the actual story. The book isn't really horrible, but it's not great either. It's sort of just suspended in Fantasy Realm, neither here nor there. I don't think I've ever felt this detached while reading a book. I didn't feel anything while reading DfM, except for a few seconds where I felt disgust. That's it. I would have felt more emotional reading a textbook.

"Die For Me" is the debut novel from new author Amy Plum. The first thing I noticed was how easy to read this novel was - it sits very comfortably in the young adult paranormal genre and didn't read as a debut. The writing flows very well and I turned the pages with ease, managing to finished it in just a few hours.

Ah, another book where I’ve been suckered in by the gorgeous cover. Don’t get me wrong, I love books with pretty covers but when it comes to actual content, I’m always looking for something deeper.
The premise of this book sounds fantastic, and for the most part, the different take on these paranormal “creatures” that these people are is unique. I put creatures in quotations because it’s really just a fancy way of saying zombies without the whole icky stuff. It’s not a vampire, werewo More...

Enthralling from the beginning to end, romance readers will love ‘Die for Me’.
Kate Mercier, a sixteen years old American girl, had been through a lot: her parents died in a car accident recently. It was decided that Kate and her older sister must live with their grandparents in Paris, France, in order to heal the grief and move on into a new life.
But someone caught her attention, a handsome Parisian boy called V More...

I went into Die for Me not knowing what to expect. I hadn’t seen any of the buzz online about the book but was told by a friend I absolutely must read it. So I opened it on Saturday morning and was completely enraptured by Plum’s romantic writing for the rest of the weekend.
Kate is easily likable and incredibly smart. Vincent is the TDF kind of guy you expect to see haunting the streets of Paris. He isn’t looking for attention but Kate gives it to him anyway.

Die for me - After the death of her parents, Kate and her sister move to Paris, France to live with their grandparents, in hopes of starting a new life for themselves. Kate doesn’t want anything to do with friends or boys, until she meets the charming Vincent, who makes her feel alive again. But Vincent also has a secret, and Kate must decide if he’s worth risking her heart over.

There are lots of similarities which make you think about Twilight but it doesn't matter if you like YA paranormal novels. Kate and Vincent have a beautiful love relationship with a paranormal side. There is suspense, action and romance of course. I can't wait for reading the sequel!

I was really pleasantly surprised by Die For Me. The premise was a little goofy - YA zombie love story in Paris? Twilight with zombies? But I was curious enough to check it out and I'm glad that I did. So yes, it is a YA paranormal love story but these zombies are not the mindless brain-and-flesh eaters that you know and love. So those looking for a love story between a teenage girl and a mindless brain-and-flesh eater will be sorely disappointed... though I'm sure there are books about just tha

I grabbed this book, because I was needing something light and fun at a time when I found myself in the hospital and absolutely miserable. I did like the Twilight books, though, I by no means, consider myself a "twi-hard". But having enjoyed it, and this book, is definitely trying to channel that vein, I gave it a try. I needed something very light! I did like it, but it is a watered-down facsimilie.

This was my first zombie book and I have to admit I've never liked the idea of them. I mean, zombies? No offense to anyone who likes them, but they've just always creeped me out. I decided to give this a chance and I'm glad I did. All in all, I did like this book. It was fast-paced and written in a way where the story just flows. I also appreciated Amy Plum's use of vocabulary. Glad I read this on my NookColor because the built-in dictionary feature came in handy!
