Shome Dasgupta writes of love, innocence, loss, desire, communication, and what we all want but sometimes refuse to acknowledge. His choice to utilize simple language to convey complex emotions belays the intensity of the subject matter. Yet it's funny, and sweet, and you keep reading, even through the heartbreak. And then, when you finish the last page and put the book down, you realize you've gained a little more understanding about yourself and the choices you've made in your life.

At times I am here and You Are Gone reminded me of Richard Brautigan. It is a warm and passionate book, full of clever word play and wonderful images. I really look forward to what Dasgupta does next.
This was a beautiful, heartbreaking read. Shome Dasgupta seems to bridge the gap between poetry and prose seamlessly and effortlessly. I read this slowly, enjoying every word and delicate phrase.
Delightful and unexpected and full to bursting with the truth of young love and the sorrow of its inevitable and inexplicable demise. Thoroughly enjoyed.
This new book from OW Press is something unique, for sure. The stark, even bleak prose beautifully renders the awkward childhood-cum-high school relationship between Mary and Jonas. Highly recommended.
Readable over and over again. Starkly beautiful, an engrossing story told with an innovative flair. I found myself going back and admiring the meaning-soaked layout, the precision of the prose. I devoured this book, laughed, spun, soared.
i am here And You Are Gone is heartbreaking and lovely. Shome's writing is so raw and tender. His novel really captures what it means to be in love with someone.
Incredibly honest and simple prose. A beautifully written tale of young love.
A beautifully written story with which every reader will find a point of connection. This love story filled me with nostalgia and moved me deeply.
