Imaginative! Uniquely speculative! - but very poor character development. The legend or idea of the tale in science fiction annals is more interesting than the specific details of actual storyline. The plot moved like some sort of 'lets spin the wheel' game.

I was really looking forward to reading this after watching the movie as a kid, but and was quite disenchanted to discover the film was actually an improvement! I will likely skip the written sequels.

The movie was definitely better than the book. The ideas in the book were interesting and could make another book with better characters so much better. I fell in love with the characters in the movie, but they were bland in the book. Also, the ending of the book was just as weird as the movie.
