As usual with metaphrog books, this sort of makes sense, if you sort of tilt your head and squint... it's a very pretty, surreal sort of story, this one about Louis trying to find something to heal his (mechanical) pet bird. But there are a couple of ... spies? chasing after him on the long journey, in which Louis may or may not have ever left his backyard.

Yeah, it's weird. I have never figured out the overarching plot in this series. The creators are from Scotland (one originally from France),
I got this because it was the daughter's favorite book in the heartbreakingly beautiful memoir, Rosalie Lightning: A Graphic Memoir by Tom Hart. It's interesting and kind of creepy that his two year old loved this book so much. I can see why he was so haunted by it after she died and included it in his book. It was way over my head though and I'm not sure I understand exactly what's going on in this weird little book.

Very effective, semi-coherent surrealism. Metaphrog’s reality is some weird midpoint between Tom Wilson’s Ziggy and lands of Jim Woodring.

Odd but engaging. I'm curious to see what my k-5 students make of it. A little like Caillou living in Brave New World.
