This book was written by a student of the artist and art teacher Corita Kent, who died in 1986. She taught art at Immaculate Heart College in California, and her students still offer occasional workshops. Her philosophy was that art is a part of life, and we're all artists. We become artists when we care about something (anything), because when we care about something, we put our hearts into it, and naturally want to do whatever it is beautifully. (She might not have phrased it quite like that.)

I found this book truly inspirational. Art educators who are interested in developing a creative learning environment will benefit from the problems in this book. Corita Kent is to teaching creativity as Betty Edwards is to teaching drawing.

Extremely inspiring. I attend University of Baltimore's MFA program in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts and the spirit of the program is very much in tune with this book.
