I hate Keira.
I want to punch her. Strangle her. Ram her head through a wall and then make her eat a porcupine. Kick her in the head so hard her skull shatters. Slam a baseball bat in to her face because she just SO STUPID. I HATE THE BITCH SO MUCH THAT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS IT AND THIS BOOK SUCKED ASS.

Now I don't normally like to write negative reviews but this piece of shit deserves to be cut up and burned and I will express my anger at wasting my time and money on this book through this...more

Wow! Just finished reading Thoughtless and for everyone who said this would be a roller coaster ride— you were not kidding!

The story took a little bit for me to get into; the writing was extremely (at times, overly) descriptive, more so at the start of book, and I initially found it quite distracting. However, once I got into reading—I was hooked!

2. It wasn't because of the angst (I haven't gotten that far)

3. It was the characters. Absolutely all of them.

Is it possible to have a hesitant relationship with a love or hate book? Because I think that's where my mind is at. Parts of this book were enjoyable for me, while many others were "I want to choke a bitch right now" moments.

Thoughtless has been compared to Beautiful Disaster, and I can see where the comparisons are coming from. Both books are high on the back-and-forth drama. This review sort of has mild spoilers, but I say to read it anyway because I'm not going to divulge anything major or reveal the outcome. I just want to bitch about Kiera's insensitivity. Go on this bitch-fest with me, please. I need to rant to you strangers out in the Goodreads universe.

The couple in Thoughtless was a 1 step forward, 15 steps back, type of deal. If you thought Travis and Abby were stubborn, you'll find Kiera to be stubborn, clueless, and ridiculous to the extreme. This woman has two incredible guys willing to do whatever she wants, and instead of picking one to settle down with, she strings them both along selfishly, deciding that she can take her time to make a decision and pick one person to be with. After all, cheating is the cool thing to do, right?

If Kiera had figured out her shit earlier in the game, I would have enthusiastically given this book at least 3 stars. The cheating didn't bother me to start. People make mistakes. We're all human. That said, this girl should have put on her big girl pants and figured out what to do after it happened once, twice, etc. She ran out of excuses pretty early on, and I never warmed up to her because of it.

Will I read the next book in the series? Uh...hell yeah. I do love me some drama, after all. I wish it had been nipped in the bud earlier on, but a little bit of drama is always fun, up to a point. Here's hoping the next book won't frustrate me as much.

Who knows? You may find that Kiera doesn't grate on you the way she did with me. I actually liked both Kellan and Denny and didn't have problems with Kellan the way some others did. He was pretty upfront about who he was. Was he a bit too much of stereotypical caveman-type male? Possibly. But hey, I like my guilty pleasure men. Sue me.

P.S. On a completely unrelated note - part of me really wants to rename this book to Chuckles and the Blushing Crybaby. If you read this book, you'll understand why.

*edit* to add that the second installment didn't bother me as much. It did actually have one extremely funny scene (one of the only scenes to ever make me actually laugh out loud). I did end up liking where book 2 went, so my thoughts are not all negative.(less)

One of only three books to have ever made me cry. The emotional roller-coaster of this story was trying, insightful, funny, inappropriate, sad and even hurtful just to mention a few. It also took a while for the story to take ahold of me, however, the writing was good and was able to keep me on track. This book is a pretty lengthy novel, but I never once found myself bored or feeling that the story was dragging on. I couldn’t get enough of this book, and by the time I came around to the last page, I didn’t want the story to end. S.C. Stephens is a very talented author who really knew how to keep the reader intrigued and completely enveloped in this book. I feel in love with all of the characters and immediately I felt connected to each one. S.C. really had a way of making each character seem believable and life-like. Every emotion the character experienced, I could literally feel off the page. While reading this book, I found myself on an emotional roller-coaster, experiencing every emotion possible.

Now, this is MY Kellan…Intense eyes, light, sandy-brown hair that’s a think, wild mess. His hair is longer on top with shaggy layers all the way around, he had “bedroom hair.” He had a devilish, unbelievably sexy smile. Needless to say, this man was gorgeous!

Thoughtless is all about an intense love triangle, and all the passion, jealousy, betrayal, and lies that goes along with it. Kiera can’t decide between her loving and devoted boyfriend of two years, Denny or sexy, passionate, rock-god, Kellan. In my mind, I was rooting for Kellan all along…but I did have a soft spot in my heart for Denny. My heart was breaking for each of them as Kiera would go back and forth between the two men. Even with Denny’s turn of events in this story, you could just tell nothing would have stopped Kellan and Kiera from being drawn together.

Kellan became my favorite hero (and most swoon-worthy man) that I’ve ever read about. You can really tell how much he cares and loves Kiera, but she’s too blind and wrapped up in Denny to see it. My heart broke mostly for Kellan. I got very impatient with Kiera’s lack of decision making…she kept putting Kellan on the back burner and continuously lead him on. Yes, I could empathize with Kiera throughout the book, I knew she didn’t want to hurt either men, but I also felt she was hurting them more by not making a decision.

This book was just utter perfection. S.C. Stephens is such a talented author, and this book had some of the steamiest scenes I’ve ever read about, (in fact, some were so steamy, I even re-read them because I just couldn’t get enough!)Kellan and Kierra’s affair is so passionate, erotic, sensual, and breathtaking…and most of the time, these moments didn’t even involve sex! When this story ended, I was a completely satisfied reader! This story wrapped up very nicely and I can’t wait to read Effortless (Thoughtless #2) to continue my journey with these amazing characters.

I seem to be reading books lately that leave me wondering what to say about them. I haven’t read all of the reviews but from what I have read, I know I’m not alone in having a hard time reviewing this.

Along those lines, I don’t like when characters jump from one person’s bed to another person’s bed. I don’t mind love triangles if they are done well, but I’m not a huge fan.

With all that said. I actually did enjoy Thoughtless. I had a hard time putting it down. Some people complained about the actions of Kiera and Kellan and how awful they were but I didn’t have a huge issue with the majority of their actions. Yes, they made horrible decisions and they didn’t think things through before acting; they reacted emotionally without thinking about how they were hurting each other. (view spoiler)

One thing most people (of the reviews I read) seemed to agree upon is that Denny is a sweet heart…I disagreed. I hated Denny. He was immature, and he hindered the story; making it more complicated than it had to be. (view spoiler)[From the time he went on his business trip he and Kiera grew apart. He didn’t call, which isn’t a huge offense, but if you want to talk to someone you make the effort. He did, in the beginning but then his job became more important and Kiera became an obligation. He took a job in another state after moving across country with his committed girlfriend. If he was really committed to Kiera he would have at least talked to her about a life changing decision. And his response to them being together…When you get out of school (in two years) you can move here. Um…didn’t she already do that? She would be giving up everything (again) to move to be with him (again). To compound the issue he bought up yet another move later in the book…moving to Australia. It’s bad enough she moved across the country to be with him, he’s now asking her to give up everything to move across the world…even further from her family and friends.

Honestly, even though the decision was made as a gut reaction and was motivated by emotion, Kiera did the right thing by breaking up with Denny. Then she promptly did the wrong thing by taking him back the instant he came back. Which is another life changing decision Denny made without her. He gave up his internship to accept the job out of state then gave up his job because Kiera broke up with him…leaving him unemployed. Not smart.

Kiera and Denny were holding each other back. They didn’t have true love because he didn’t even consider her when making a life changing decision; and she is using him as a crutch and letting him make all the decisions for her. He only came back because he panicked when she broke up with him. It was really too bad that she didn't have a backbone and didn’t kick him out of bed when he stripped. I don’t care if she missed him; he’s shown that he hasn’t missed her by not making an effort to call.

I’m not even going to go into Kellan’s beating and what happened with that. I’ll just say that it was extreme and it seriously made me question how “great” Denny seemed. (hide spoiler)]

Denny was my biggest issue with this book. There were frustrating moments overall, but the story kept me engaged and invested in the characters. I thank Alyssa for recommending this to me and I’m glad I read it.

I am so baffled at my response for the last three books I've read. It is so unlike me to read a Young Adult/College Romance book and actually like it. But I've come to the conclusion that if done right, for me at least, then I will enjoy it very much.

This book definitely satisfied my love of an emotionally angst read. I do love those kind of reads very much especially if one of the characters is unfaithful to the other. Most people don't...I guess I'm not most people then. I think it brings muc...more I am so baffled at my response for the last three books I've read. This is a rather lengthy novel, coming in at over 500 pages. I have no problem with the length, I've read books close to 1000 pages and read them multiple times. It's the repetitive, drawn out relationship Kiera has with both Denny and Kellan that I started to irritate me, and don't even get me started on all that blushing! This girl must be the color of tomato all the time with the nonstop blushing she did. The littlest, most insignificant thing would make her blush. It really got on my nerves. There is a lot of fat that could be cut from this book, probably a good 100-150 pages and it would have been a 5 star read. Unfortunately, I started to loath this book because of Kiera and her no regard for Denny or Kellan's mental well-being. My heart ached for both Kellan and Denny. She wanted both men to herself regardless of who she hurt along the way. Well, girlfriend, you can't have your cake and eat it too, it just does not work like that.

This is another book that left me unable to form a decent review. In the end, I loved to hate this book and would still recommend it to friends.

The review is for the part that I managed to read, between 1/3 and 1/2. I didn't finish the book.

Wow, this heroine is just the stupidest and selfish out there. Think of a crappy woman and then multiply it by 10 and you have this chick!

I have to be honest, if this were true, I would have given the book a couple more stars...Really. I honestly hated the characters that much.

I didn't find Kiera as annoying as other people I know did. I also didn't find the angst as bad as I was expecting. But that could have been because I was warned about it...so thanks V and Shelly.

Things I hated about this book: its length and Kiera!!! There are many long books that you don't want to miss even a sentence. This book was definitely NOT one of them. It was so repetitive that it felt more like a diary;
"Kiera being infatuated with Kellan's looks. Kiera flirting with Kellan and leading him on, falsely. Kellan is hot, sensual. Kellan is a player. Kellan and Kiera say good morning. Make coffee. Add sugar. ETC..." Urg! I just wanted to slap Kiera across the face and yell at her f...more

Reading with blurred vision is such a bloody nuisance but I had to finish the last three chapters to see if somehow, despite the cheating, deceit and lies, all 3 protagonists were able to find a measure of peace & happiness in the end.

Kiera and Denny, both in their early 20's, have been an exclusive couple for 2 years. When Denny is offered an intern position with a prestigious ad firm in Seattle, Kiera applies for and receives a scholarship to the University of Washington. Leaving small-town life behind they travel across the country...moving in with a close friend of Denny's from when he served as an exchange student in high school. Enter Kellan Kyle...an extremely good-looking, sexier-than-hell lead singer in a local band...and new roommate to the transplanted Ohioans.

What follows is an extremely intense story of a young woman who is torn between her love for two equally-deserving men and their unwavering love for her. There is no menage here, where in a fantasy world Kiera would keep both Denny and Kellan. This isn't erotica, yet the sexual tension is so prevalent and so fine-tuned you'll be buzzing with expectation. Told through Kiera's POV, it is a simple day-to-day story made complex by the unexpected attraction between Kiera and Kellan and the powerful, emotionally high-charged atmosphere that settles among these two as well as the unsuspecting Denny. Fortunately, even with the limited POV,the author won't ever leave you scratching your head and wondering 'what just happened here?' She leaves nothing to speculation and plays the entire drama out in explicit (although somewhat lengthy) detail.

As you can probably guess, there is cheating in this story. And while the idea of cheating in a romance novel might totally turn you off, at least the circumstances that prompt the cheating are not due to the overplayed drunkenness or selfishness or the big misunderstanding...they are simply due to inexperience, vulnerability and the inevitable loss in the struggle to follow one's head and not one's heart. As such, there are no bad guys in the story. Unfortunately, this greatly restricts the reader's ability to justify the cheating; and because of the devastating outcome, it was hard for me to forgive Kiera and be truly happy for her.

This book is angst at its best. I was riding the emotional roller coaster of a lifetime and had to physically unwind & stretch cramped muscles whenever I took a break. But I loved the fact that a story could totally consume me like Thoughtless did...blubbering tears and all. The author, S.C. Stephens really has the ability to express feelings and emotions and internal struggle. She gets to the heart & core of the characters and thoroughly fleshes them out...so much so you will feel like a personal friend to Kiera, Kellan & Denny. Their story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, and you will live every moment with them.

I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it!
