I really liked this novel, but I could not really make myself liking Trina. There are things that I like about her, she has a cat, she loves her ESL students and she's not super-mega-ultra skinny. But her character's actions and behaviors just got on my nerves after awhile. However, I think that was what kept me hooked on the novel. It would have been kind of cliche for me otherwise.

Ironically, a lot of what I didn't like about Trina was that when it came to men, she seemed to be seeki More...

Hollywood Ending is the first novel by Los Angeles-transplant Lucie Simone.

Trina is barely making ends meet when, in the midst of trying to land her ultimate dream job, she meets her sexy neighbor Matiu and falls head over heels. The only problem is that Matiu seems openly repelled by Trina and purposely avoids her. Little does Trina know that Matiu is attracted to her in return -- but is focused solely on business since he plans on returning to his New Zealand home upon gaining the ex More...

Trina Stewart came to Hollywood with big hopes and dreams of making it big in Tinsel Town. That was ten years ago. Trina teaches class to Japanese students on how to speak English. Trina still hopes to make it big.

Matiu Wulf has come to Hollywood all the way from New Zealand to take a design scene class at UCLA. Matiu has no plans to stay. In fact he can not wait until he can return home. Matiu has moved into Trina’s apartment complex. Matiu never expected to fall in love. From the s More...

Oh, this is really like 2.5 stars. I'm sorry. I don't savor publishing lackluster reviews of books. However, I wanted to like Hollywood Ending so much more than I did. Lucie Simone's inherent sense of humor is undisputed. I laughed at some lines where I least expected them, and I found that refreshing. Sadly, this book seems disjointed in areas and the character development is a little clunky. Trina is a bit one-dimensional, although there are moments, such as those where her family background i More...

Having just read a fantastic chick lit by Adriana Trigiani, I was happy to review this chick lit book too. But, after reading Hollywood Ending, I was a little let down. Don't get me wrong, I did like it. Just not near as much. This one was little more "steamy" and threw me for a loop. The language was a bit more in this book, too.

There is laugh out loud humor in this book, as Trina tries to find her niche in Hollywood. That doesn't happen though and she's "stuck" More...

Hollywood Ending is filed under Chick Lit on my book shelf and it fulfills every element that I enjoy about this genre. We have a loveable, relatable (if slightly slap-able) protagonist who keeps falling for the wrong guy while looking for her dream job. Meet Matiu, the hot *hot* love interest with the wicked accent and the unstoppable determination a girl needs to win her heart over. The setting, Los Angles, was perfect and the straight forward writing drew me into a nice, easy to read, fun sto More...

Trina Stewart is trying to live the hollywood dream. She's not trying to become an actress but instead wants to be on the otherside behind the camera. Her 100,000 debt will prove that she's taken the necessary steps to get where she wants so why can't she find that dream job to get her where she wants to be. When a sexy neighbor moves in the vacant apartment upstairs but too bad he seems repelled by Trina.

Unfortantlly the characters didn't invest too much important f More...

Looking for a fun and summery romantic read? Well, look no further because Hollywood Ending is the book for you!

Hollywood Ending tells the story of Trina and Matiu. When Trina moved to Hollywood several years ago she had a grand future planned out, but now she's broke and has a job far from the Hollywood movie scene she craved before. But she's okay with it. She's sending out applications and one will get her somewhere, right? Plus she has an awesome best friend and a possible boyfri More...

Have a free afternoon? This is a good book to fill your time with. Easy, non-heavy entertainment. The relationship between Trina and Matiu is funny to watch and they each try to fit in with each other.
The book was very easy to read to read. One thing I had an issue with was the language. While I am certainly not shy, some choice words were added into the narration. It seemed a bit off to me. It would make more sense if one of the characters if the characters had said them. There were other More...

Trina came to Hollywood 10 years ago with dreams of making it big. And in all that time, nothing exciting and certainly nothing big has happened until the new guy moves in upstairs. Matui Wulf is here only for six weeks in hopes of beefing up his resume, so he pushes Trina and all of her advances away.. right into the arms of wannabe actor Blake. Matui realizes the error of his ways and then proceeds to turn his charm on in hopes of winning Trina back.

Other than the language, which a More...

This is a Hollywood love story, ok well it’s more like a story of two regular Joes looking to break into Hollywood—but an ending with true Hollywood style. Trina Stewart and Matiu Wulf are both looking to make a name for themselves in Tinsel Town. Well trying to make a name doesn’t pay the bills. Trina teaches English as a second language as her day job, but has been dreaming of breaking into the business for the last ten years—and according to her best bud what Trina really needs is a good man! Trina has lived in LA for 10 years trying to live out her Hollywood dream. So, far she has gotten into debt by going to film school, teaches ESL to barely makes ends meet, and keeps striking out romantically. That is until Matiu sublet's the apartment upstairs from Trina. Matiu, has come to LA to take a scenic design class, which he hopes will open doors for him when he goes home to New Zealand where more and more productions are filming.

This started off promising, but the writing really fell apart mid-novel. Also, the main characters, Trina and Matiu were completely annoying. Trina was one of those average, chunky, desperate girls who in real life you'd want to smack...Matiu was unrealistic and a bit of a stalker, not to mention totally unsexy. Chicklit seems to be geared towards the type of girl who can't get a guy and wants to fantasize about what it would be like if she could. This book could use a good editor and a few rewr More...

Won this as a giveaway!

I was looking for a lighter, easy read and this was just that. It was very "Hollywood" as you might assume. Romance, drama and just the right amount of predictability. All about making choices and how they not only affect your own life but the lives of others around you.
